I’m the type of girl who’s given up on fairy tales. So when Beck – the hot new busboy at work – starts flirting with me, I know better than to get my hopes up. Happily ever afters aren’t for the average. I learned that the hard way. But how can I be expected to resist a man who can quote Austen, loves making me laugh, and seems to be everything hot and good in this world? Only there’s so much … there’s so much more to him than that.
Billionaire playboy? Check.
Troubled soul? Check.
The owner of my heart, the man I’ve moved halfway across the country to be with, who’s laying the world at my feet in order to convince me to never leave? Check. Check. Check.
But nobody does complicated like the one percent.
This is not your everyday rags-to-riches, knight-in-shining armor whisking the poor girl off her feet kind of story. No, this is much messier.
“Rich Boy takes you on a literal ride! Funny. Angsty. There’s mean rich people and people you root for. It’s a definite recommend from me! –Tijan, New York Times bestselling author
“Rich Boy was witty, exciting and had the most intense slow burn romance I’ve read in a long time. The complexity of the characters was refreshing and made me wish for more!”—Audrey Carlan, #1 New York Times bestselling author

Alice Lawrence is a 22 yr. old woman who works as a waitress/bartender in a dive bar in Los Angeles. Her life is pretty uneventful until the gorgeous new busboy Beck arrives at work. In a short period of time he’s become her whole world, and is all she wants and needs, but nothing is easy in his world. She long ago gave up believing in fairy tales, but will Beck be her happily ever after?
The Rich Boy by Kylie Scott is a heartwarming, romantic, sexy, swoony standalone romance that I absolutely adored!!! Beck is super dreamy and easy to love, and Alice is a confidant, strong woman who knows her worth. I couldn’t get enough of these characters, and didn’t want the story to end. I was smiling throughout, and couldn’t put this book down. I would love a story for Ethan and Henry too!
Be still my swooning heart!!
Kylie Scott has knocked it out of the park with this swoon-worthy, slow burn romance. Beck can seriously woo me with this Jane Austen quotes <3
When Alice and Beck meet, they connect instantly and the attraction is palpable. They meet at work where Alice is a Waitress and Beck is the Busboy. Their dates after work were seriously sweet and so romantic, their connection was built up and became beautifully intense.
Just as their connection is beginning Beck is forced back home to Denver but there is no way he is letting her go, he wants her with him so its time to drop the bombshell that he's a billionaire.
I loved the connection between Alice and Beck. They were perfect for each other. They gave each other strength and so strong, hopefully they can survive the outside interferences being sent their way.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is the start of a series as I would seriously like to read more from the Elliott family

THE RICH BOY by Kylie Scott is the story of Beck and Alice.
Alice has a degree in literature but hasn’t found that job yet with that nor does she know where she really wants to go with her life, so she is working as a waitress in California. There is a new busboy Beck who has just started that she is attracted to. Beck is sweet, lovable and is totally into Alice. But then he gets a call that he needs to come home to Colorado. Beck wants Alice to come with him since she isn’t sure what she wants to do with her life. But we learn that Beck is the son of a billionaire and life is totally different in Colorado.
Enjoyed their story.
So here’s the thing – I tried really hard to fall in love with these characters I really did. But I kinda like the side characters more than the actual MCs. I mean I did like Alice but for a smart girl she sure was naive. It was fun to she her putting mean people in their place. As for Beck; I’m not sure what his purpose was with everything that went down between them.
All in all it was an OK read with funny banter and great side characters which is why I’m giving it 3,5*. I really hope next book will work better for me because I’m a huge fan of Kylie Scott and her books.

Kylie Scott has a way of creating some of the most swooniest men ever! Beck is swoony, hot, sweet, hilarious, vulnerable, and so freaking adorable. Can I has a Beck? I fell in love with him almost instantly. He has so many past hurts and vulnerabilities, but he also puts himself so far out there like they don’t matter. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to push the lovely Alice aside and scream “MINE”. He is just that awesome.
Alice is one of the characters that you hate to love. You want her man, but you can’t deny she’s perfect for him. She’s so sweet and although she feels like she doesn’t have a good head on her shoulder, she really does. She grounds Beck in so many ways and it was refreshing to see how she reacted to his money. Why? Because it’s how I see many women who grew up morally right reacting. She was uncomfortable with it, but when Beck explained he just wants to spoil her she understood. She enjoyed it while also not taking it for granted. *sigh* I guess I’ll move aside because Alice really is perfect for Beck.
The words flowed naturally and weaved a beautiful love story that I didn’t want to put down for a second. I was captivated by the true relationship struggles this two went through. Hands down a five star read you’ll regret not grabbing!
4.25 stars–THE RICH BOY by Kylie Scott is a contemporary, adult, stand alone romance focusing on twenty-six year old, reluctant heir and billionaire Beck Olsen Elliott, and twenty-two year old, waitress Alice Lawrence.
Told from first person perspective (Alice) THE RICH BOY follows the building relationship between twenty-six year old, reluctant heir and billionaire Beck Olsen Elliott, and twenty-two year old, waitress Alice Lawrence. Alice Lawrence struggles with a direction in life and finds herself working at a local San Diego bar to make ends meet where she will come face to face with her future in the guise of new busboy Beck. A slow seduction ensues until the day Beck is called home to Denver, Colorado, to assume his position upon the death of his father. Secrets and lies, and dysfunctional family dynamics follow in the wake as Alice sets out on an adventure of a lifetime with a man she has known for barely a few weeks. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Alice and Beck, and the potential fall-out as Beck’s lies, and lies of omission push Alice one too many times.
The relationship between Beck and Alice is one of immediate attraction but Beck keeps secret his family history and the potential to inherit billions of dollars. Beck is a reluctant heir who had been trying to experience a life of normality but the death of his absentee father pulls Beck head first into a lifestyle he was hoping to avoid. Alice Lawrence is at a crossroads in her life. With a business degree, and working as a waitress going nowhere fast, Alice agrees to move to Denver with Beck but must battle her way to be accepted by the Elliott clan. The back and forth between Beck and Alice is fun, flirty and frenetic. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Beck’s half-siblings: Ethan, Emma (and Matias) and Henry; his ex-girlfriend Selah, Grandmother Catherine, and her assistant Winston. We are up close and personal with the broken and dysfunctional Elliott family: their power and control; and their inability to understand the common man. Here’s hoping the author has plans for each of the Elliott siblings.
If you are a fan of the author’s Stage Dive series you will recognize her style of writing. Our hero Beck is similar in personality to our beloved Mal Ericson with his delivery, his humor and his playful attitude; the premise is reminiscent to David and Ev’s story line.
THE RICH BOY is a story of family and friendships; secrets and lies; vengeance, betrayal and love. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the characters are sassy, spirited but flawed ; the romance is spicy and tender. I struggled, ever so slightly, with Alice’s reaction to Beck’s secrets and lies, although not dangerous or destructive, the lies were more heart breaking for our heroine when she discovers the reasons and why.
Hooked from the beginning with this instant attraction storyline. Beck and Alice’s chemistry smolders until it finally explodes. Loved their banter and the supporting characters. Another great read by Kylie Scott.
The latest by Kylie Scott is what every little girl dreams of having someday the Prince Charming coming to the rescue. We have Alice a waitress by night, big dreams by day falling for Beck the bus boy or so we think. The thing is that this is not the usual courtship she has experienced before but a whirlwind literally. The chemistry is there but to me felt way too fast for me. We see more of Alice and very little of Beck. Then when we do we see a Beck that well not even Alice knows about until now. Don’t get me wrong the romance is there even filled with a villain depicted by a feisty, stubborn and very regal grandmother. Kylie Scott did a great job in so many obstacles with these two making us see how different Alice and Beck really are yet no amount of money can destroy love. All in all it was a good book filled with the faith of love overcoming everything including the grandmother, money and society. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
What a fun book! I really liked it! I felt it was different than some of Kylie’s other books. But a food different. We follow along a journey of two young people who just want to be. Alice is independent working at a bar, still trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life. Beck is funny busboy. He starts their relationship. They start to hang out together until Beck has to go back to reality. Well, his reality. Alice really doesn’t know anything about Beck, except that he’s nice, charming, hot and funny. So a few days later, Alice is asked to go be with Beck. She really misses him. So she quits her job and off she goes. She suddenly finds out that he is a billionaire. So, she is not readily accepted by others in Beck’s family. But Beck does everything he can to get her to stay. She’s his “Alice” after all. So our journey continues on with Alice finding a place next to Beck. Can these two make it work or will there be some bumps in the road? For a fun, make you smile book, go grab this one today!
The Rich Boy has given me the HUGEST book hangover I’ve had in the longest time. I’ve tried to pick up several different books and none of them can grab my attention. All I want to do is slip back into Alice and Beck’s world –I truly wish I could read it for the first time all over again–it was that kind of book.
I loved how the premise of this novel was such a fantasy (I mean, who in this life is lucky enough to get swept off of her feet from a sucky waitress job by a bazillionare who is quite wonderful?!) and I was so there for every second of it. From the first few days of working together to the day Alice realized who Beck really was, I loved their everything. Their conversations, their taking it slow, their sweetness and humor? It was exactly the novel I needed.
Alice was so level headed and I really admired how she handled everything that came her way. If I could have an ounce of her poise on a daily basis, I’d be happy. I loved how she seemed to have an interior monologue that was snarky and normal while her outward dialogue was measured and completely appropriate for each scene. I loved her body positivity. I loved how honest and forthright she was, even when it could’ve made her vulnerable. And I loved how she refused to back down or allow others to demean her and how she basically expected those around her to do better and be better, when they weren’t.
Alice was just what Beck needed and I loved Beck for her. He was charming and sweet and his pet names for her made me all gooey inside. His family was a hot mess and I appreciated how he did his best to make sure they treated Alice the way they should. And even when things got messed up and I found myself disappointed, Beck managed to grovel and charm and work his magic to get them to the HEA I was thrilled to see.
I hated to see this one end and am selfishly hoping Kylie Scott decides to write more about this family. I loved the mix of fairy tale and realism in The Rich Boy and I can’t wait to read it all over again.
„Take a leap, Alice. Promise I won’t let you fall.”
Dear Kylie Scott, I L YOU! The Rich Boy is such a fantastic book that I’m sitting here with a shit-eating grin on my face and hearts in my eyes, trying to come up with something wise to say and all I can form is ‘WOW’. It’s kind of rags to riches/cinderella story, filled with sarcastic sense of humor, phenomenal lines and heartwarming romance. Alice and Beck stole my heart from the very start and I’m pretty sure I didn’t even blink once during this read, I was so consumed with this story.
Beck is such a charming dork that I was constantly swooning! I mean, dude was quoting Jane Austen for heaven’s sake! Considering his background and family/life baggage he had to deal with, I’m impressed with the guy he turned out to be. He’s the perfect book boyfriend material and I love him so much!
Alice is an intelligent girl, who still needs to find a path in her life. She’s sassy, brave, smart-mouthed, funny and kind-hearted. She’s also caring and understanding, but she won’t allow to be pulled by her nose. When the need arises, she’s fierce and assertive.
These two have such a magical connection that you want them together right from the start. Despite the differences they’re compatible where it counts and the chemistry they share is combustible. The sexual tension in this book was almost my undoing, but Kylie made it worth the wait- the passion between Beck and Alice was scorching hot!
I love how Kylie Scott showed that you can find your person regardless of where he comes from, what his social status is and how much his life is different from yours. Neither the appearances, nor the size of the wallet have any effect on feelings and even though on the surface it cannot possibly succeed, the heart wants what it wants. I adore how this story shows a true fact of this life- if you want to create a real, healthy relationship, you need to be honest. You need to stay true not only to your partner, but also to yourself. All these truths are intervowed with such an adorable love story and hilarious conversations, that I needed to wipe tears from my cheeks more than once! This book lands on my shelf of forever favorites!
Alice is a spunky, hard-working waitress in a bar biding time until she figures out what she is doing with her life. Beck is their new busboy. He is a bit mysterious, but playful and friendly. And soon he has flirted his way into her life. They enjoy spending time together and share a similar sense of humor.
But then it all changes…Beck is called home by his family to Colorado. And he asks her to take a big leap of faith.
But Alice has no idea what a leap it might be. They met in her world, not his. And his world is much more cutthroat, messy, and public than she is used to. Not everyone will be happy about the girl Beck brought home. But Alice is strong, independent, and sassy. Beck hopes that she will be able to hold her own and he will get to keep her.
But what happens if it is not his controlling family, the media, the lawyers, or even his ex that are making the worst mistakes?
I really liked Beck and Alice and how their connection and relationship developed. Beck had definite ideas about how he wanted to proceed and held back certain things while jumping too fast in other areas. Alice just wanted to be able to be herself and have some purpose in this new life. She knew she did not exactly fit in, but for Beck she was willing to try. I loved how Beck looked at her and saw beauty in her curves and personality where others saw things to criticize. His approach to progressing their relationship was different and it was refreshing.
Some say money can buy happiness, but it can’t buy love. Sometimes love truly has to be earned. And this is a slow-burn, modern-day fairytale about building trust and finding a true love that can hopefully last and thrive even in the most challenging circumstances.
His family was a chaotic mess of drama and excess, but I came to like and appreciate many of them. I would like to read more about his brothers Ethan and Henry especially. And I loved the side story with his sister, Emma and Matias.

(3.5 stars) Alice Lawrence is a waitress trying make a little extra money. She knows fairytales aren’t real so when the new gorgeous busboy, Beck Elliott , starts flirting she is timid to believe it. Who is this handsome man that has taken an interest? Is he really just some poor busboy or does he have more than most? When Beck’s real life disturbs his new life can he find a way to keep what was growing between Alice and himself? “…why did you leave all of this to clean tables?…Because I had to find you.” Be still my heart! This was a unique rags to riches slower romance with a side of humor. I enjoyed the beginning but it did drag on a bit for me. I did however enjoy the scenes with Beck and Alice but I wished it progressed a little more. Told in Alice’s POV
I never knew how much I needed an adult fairy tale in my life until I finished reading The Rich Boy. Seriously, such Cinderella vibes here even right down to horrible, mean family issues. But once I started reading, I was sucked in to the sweet, fun, sexy, slow-burning romance blossoming between Beck and Alice and I didn’t want it to end.
From their ridiculously adorable meet-cute, straight on through to the end, I adored both Beck and Alice. Adored how they were both ridiculously adorable, and uncertain. Yet willing to put in the work to make the small spark between them grow into a raging inferno.
I loved how I felt like I was right in the thick of things as the secrets were finally revealed and the ramifications thereof. I loved how Alice and Beck approached their relationship like adults—that the real issue between them was mostly through outside influences. But that they really worked together to solidify their relationship and their future.
I adored my time spent with Beck, Alice, Emma, Ethan, Henry, Matias, and Rachel. I want more from this crazy, messed up family because there are so many stories left to be told between them. Pretty please, Kylie Scott?
