The FulcrumLife is a chain of defining moments that determine our choices, change us, and shape us. Sometimes they fly by us in a blur or a series of blurs, barely marked or remembered. But every so often, a moment comes along that is so forceful, it becomes a fulcrum that sets us on a new course. Such an event happened for Rex Dalton on March 11, 2004 at Atocha Station, Madrid, Spain. Power of …
Power of Three
Rex Dalton was sent on a mission to Afghanistan to gather information about the opium trade. His mission brief was to find out who were the key players, the trade routes, and to follow the money trail from the producers, distributors into the coffers of Taliban and other terrorist organizations. Before long he had opened a can of worms revealing spine chilling deceit and corruption that reached into the highest hallways of power in Afghanistan, America, and Europe.
His submissions to his superiors to take action to wipe out the drug stores, labs, and the drug lords, fell on deaf ears.
Eventually, the deliberate inaction and ineptness of US politicians drove Dalton to take unsanctioned action and it stirred a hornet’s nest which even he, one of the world’s most lethal assassins, might not survive.
Unchained
Rex Dalton and his new friend, the military dog, Digger escaped from Afghanistan and made their way into India where they started a new life.
Within a few weeks, Dalton had a new name, a new passport and no worries about money. He and Digger were on their way to Kapal Mochan, India, where Rex intended to dip his hand into a sacred spring.
But then Digger started shifting around in the front passenger seat and looking at him as if to say, “So, when are you going to stop and give a dog a chance to go to the toilet?”

This is a great series of books that kept me reading and buying more.
Always enjoy Rex Dalton & his dog Digger
This was an excellent series -heart pounding action great writing -loved them all
I love Rex Dalton and Digger. The military dogs are absolutely amazing and in this book it seems they also have great personalities. When we were first introduced to Digger, he and Rex had been working and went back to their hotel for the night. Digger wouldn’t get in the shower so Rex took a shower and when finished saw that Digger had gone to bed. He took his half right down the middle and did not want to share. He finally did, starting a routine sleeping arrangement. I could relate to that story as my own dogs have tried that and succeeded. The characters in this book are very interesting and it is easy to get to know and like them. I just love this series of books.
J C Ryan is a great author and I really enjoy everything I have read by him. The hero, Rex Dalton is an American undercover intelligence agent. In ” The Fulcrum ” Rex is sent to Afganistan to learn and report on the opium poppy/heroin business. Rex exceeds his orders and destroys a huge warehouse full of heroin, which somewhat damages the US and European drug supply, upsetting high level American drug dealers and politicians. In ‘Power of Three” the corrupt American officials plan an ambush after the drug supply is disrupted, killing all Rex’s team except Rex and a briliant war dog,” Digger”. Rex and Digger together wipe out several of the major Afgan drug lords and the corrupt American officials ordering the ambush; Rex and Digger together being more powerful than a mere pair, constituting a power of three. They flee Afganistan for India, get involved in human trafficing of Arab harem women in Saudi Arabia and free 6 women who wish to flee a prince’s harem, after the evil prince is killed, in “Unchained”. Rex provides a new free safe life and financial security for the women.
Good series. A fun and interesting read. You should take a look
Great read. Real page turner!
if you like suspense you’ll like Dalton!
This whole series is amazing. If you haven’t tried it this is a great starting place.
I love Rex Dalton’s character. He doesn’t use his multi-range defensive skills unless it is absolutely necessary. He and Digger use amazing communication techniques that even Rex doesn’t understand. Even though Rex has suffered tremendous loss, he still has so much compassion for the underdogs of the world. His ability to speak seven languages fluently is great, but his desire to add to this repertoire is mind-blowing.
Great author, great books
Rex and his dog Digger are not the typical heroes in a story.
If you have read any “Rex Dalton” books by J. C. Ryan like I have, you should go back to the beginning of the series and read “The Rex Dalton Thriller Series: Books 1-3” because these books give meaning to why Rex Dalton got started to right wrongs in the world and help people who need help. If you are new to the series, you will be hooked because these books will make you want to continue reading more of Rex’s adventures. Rex Dalton is a brilliant man who started out in academia with the hopes of working in the United States Foreign Service. He has mastered many languages and speaks them as if each is his native tongue. He has an incredible memory. He also has mastered many of the martial arts and knows how and when to use them. Book One, “The Fulcrum” starts with Rex, his parents, his younger brother and sister and his girlfriend Jessie on vacation in Spain. They are about to board a commuter train to Barcelona when Rex and Jessica go to get coffee in a nearby coffee shop just two blocks away from the train station. They suddenly hear a terrible explosion and see a huge fire, right on the train platform where they had left Rex’s parents and siblings, Terrorists have blown up the train and killed his family. He runs back to the platform and searches for them, only finding his mother, burned beyond recognition and dead, and his near-dead sister Quinn. Rex and Jessie return to the United States and Rex tries to lose himself in alcohol. He feels guilty that he is still alive. Jessie stays with him for eleven months and tries to help him stop drinking and go on with his life. He had wanted to pack up his parents’ belongings, put them in storage and sell their house. Each day Jessie tries to help him until the day he gets angry with her lectures and tells her to “get out”. He then decides to sober up and on Valentine’s Day, tells her that the Rex she knew is dead and he is going to join the Marines so he can kill terrorists. He asks her to sell the his parents’ house and belongings. They both now know that this part of his life is over. He joins the Marines and excels in every kind of training. Then, while waiting for his first assignment, he is transferred to the Army’s Delta Force and after extensive grueling training in which he has again excelled, he is told that he has failed the Delta Force training. His depression and return to alcohol is relieved after two days when he is told that he did not fail and now is a desired candidate to train for the CRC, Crisis Response Consulting, an invisible Black Ops group led by its CEO John Brandt. He will be sent all over the world to do things not overseen by any part of the American government. In the Book Two, “The Power of Three”, Rex goes against orders and tries to stop the opium trade in Afghanistan and is sent into an ambush. He is the only survivor and is given the responsibility of caring for his dying friend’s military dog “Digger”. He does not know whether John Brandt was responsible for sending him into the ambush and decides to sever all ties with the CRC and Brandt and under a different name, travel the world and see all the things he has read about. He wonders whether Brandt would still try to have him killed if he knew he was alive. Book Three “Unchained” has Rex going to Saudi Arabia to rescue Rehka, an Indian girl whose parents he had met while in India. He then sets Rehka up as the administrator of all of the money he has taken from criminals. I am looking forward to reading more “Rex Dalton Thrillers” by JC Ryan and am sure that as soon as people read “Books 1-3”, they will want to read all of the “Rex Dalton Thrillers” too.
I was prepared to not like these books since they were written by a man & I prefer women authors (more emotional; not so matter-of-fact). But I gave them a chance & was pleasantly surprised – especially that there was NO PROFANITY or SEX! Bravo to JC Ryan! This series gets you very interested in seeing what’s next in the antics of Rex Dalton & his dog Digger – I’m now hooked!
I enjoyed the first three books going to be reading more. Very entertaining.
It was easy to get involved in reading this book, some others have really long “set ups to set the stage” I got interested right from the start and once I got through the first book I was anxious to move on to the next to see what was going to happen to the characters. The only thing that was a little bit too repetitive was how Rex Dalton is absolutely the best at just about everything and no one can compete with him. I got the point early on and didn’t need reminding . Liked the growing relationship with the dog, especially since he was totally NOT a dog person.
Great thrillers – all 3 books. Presents some very tough situation that Rex always manages to get out of.
A very good read
I could not stop reading this series. Amazing story telling, believable and very well put together. I Would finish one book and go purchase the next. If this genre interests you at all, pick it up, you will not regret it.
An excellent series.
