USA Today BestsellerAn inconvenient engagement turns a marriage of convenience into so much more in this sparkling new series from award-winning author Sara Portman . . . Lady Emmaline Shaw’s reputation was irreparably damaged when her fiancé, John Brantwood, disappeared immediately after their engagement four years ago. Since then, she’s grown from a shy, uncertain girl to a woman who knows … shy, uncertain girl to a woman who knows her own mind. And what she knows is that London society holds nothing for her.
Rumor has it that John ran off to war and died in battle. Now, as the new Duke of Worley, his shocking resurrection throws the ton into a tizzy and makes him one of England’s most sought after bachelors—except that he’s already engaged.
John needs a wife capable of smoothing his beloved sister’s introduction into society. But though Emma
happily grants him his freedom, her fiery beauty and resilient spirit hold him captive. In fact, John has no intention of letting her go. Her fate is now in his hands, but will her heart be safe there as well?
“Smart, sharp, and insightful . . . a must-read.”

The Reunion is a fabulous debut for a new series by author Sara Portman. For Regency fans looking for a new author, this book and series definitely one to read!
A Delightful Story.
I adored this story, Emma was such a feisty heroine whilst John’s love and care for his mother and sister were inspiring. I liked that Emma gave him such a hard time before agreeing to marry him and the solution she found to have Charlotte accepted into Society. I will be looking to read more by this author
I enjoyed this historical romance. New author for me. Filled with humor, plucky characters (great character development and growth BTW), and some sweet (and steamy) romance. And I just realized that even though there was no big adventure or diabolical plot here, I didn’t miss that. This was all about relationships…losing them, repairing them, fighting them and embracing them. It was simply a joy to follow these well-written characters as they moved forward in their lives within those relationships. Can’t wait for Lucy’s story up next! Thanks to #NetGalley for the ARC.
Lady Emmaline Shaw never wanted to be engaged and certainly not to the rude and arrogant Duke of Worley, John Brentwood. When he disappeared 4 years ago, she was relieved that she never had to think of him again, that is, until he showed up at the ball and informed her he intended to keep their engagement and marry her. Thus begins an unlikely marriage where Emma would help tutor his sister Charlotte in the ways of society.
Ms. Portman teases out the story of Emma and John’s growing attachment for each other. Of course, along the way, there are numerous misunderstandings. There is also a small side plot with a villain, but I wasn’t particularly impressed with it. It was bland at best. The story moved along at a good pace and I it kept me turning the pages until the end. Fans of Regency romances will certainly enjoy the story.
Entertaining
Great twist on independent lady vs. alpha male. Their father betrothed them, and the day after he disappears making her a social parriah. 4 years later (just as she’s finally thinking she can leave the ton behind) he reappears and holds her to the betrothal. They end up believing to have a marriage of convenience, but of course fate disagrees. Lots of good banter and unexpected twists and turns. Good read – I recommend this book and will be looking for more from this author

Good book
Enjoyable light readin
The beginning part of this book was great. However it sort of lost steam about half way through, so only 4 stars not 5.
I enjoyed this book very much. Sometimes its nice to read something that is light and fun, and this was just the ticket. It was well written and a very nice summer read. I am looking forward to reading other books by this author
I found the main character completely unbelievable.
I love the feisty, strong, protagonist. This fits into the “good-guy-acts-like-jerk-because-he’s-clueless-until-someone-points-it-out” romance genre, which happens to be one of my favorite story constructions. Well done. The tale includes a very observant and likeable young woman whose romance is yet to be told. I can’t wait to read all about it!
Enjoyable read.
Throughly entertaining.
While a good writer, the plot line of “I’m not going to fall in love with my wife no matter how sweet she is” wears after not so very many pages.
