It’s been quite the year for the Hayes/Gamble family, but now things are looking up. When you’ve survived a tornado, a concert shooting, and being stranded on a deserted island, what else can possibly go wrong? After all, isn’t that the rule—three strikes, and you’re out?
That should totally be the rule.
Dillon Hayes has dreamed of her wedding day since childhood. Now, after months of planning, … months of planning, the chapel is booked, the invitations are sent, and the dress is ready and waiting. In only a few days’ time, Dillon will become Mrs. Liam Gamble in front of God, Tennessee, and everyone she loves.
But when a rare blizzard dumps piles of snow on Nashville and the entire southern region three days before the wedding, all that planning goes up in, well…snow. Businesses close. Flights are grounded. Roads are nearly impassible. Even the chapel now has a gaping hole in the middle of the roof and a giant mound of white powder blocking the aisle.
Dillon can feel her dreams dying one by one…and there’s nothing she can do to stop it. A year filled with one mishap after another can wear a person down. But what Dillon soon discovers is this: the death of one dream isn’t necessarily the end.
Sometimes it can lead to an even better beginning.

Amy Matayo did it again! Sometimes when I get to the end of a series I get nervous to see what the author is going to do with the characters I’ve invested so much time in and grown to love. Matayo did a beautiful job of staying true to each character’s personality and the usual flow of drama, catastrophe, and humor of the series. Dillon, like any bride, is looking forward to her wedding with Liam. Knowing the all to recent history of her inner circle she should’ve known things would begin to unravel. It begins with the cake and spirals from there. The highlight of the book (and what we’ve all been waiting for) was the final reveal of what Teddy was wearing to the wedding. I love that a quick backstory was finally given as to why that outfit was chosen by Dillon. This was another winning read by Amy Matayo!
I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions are my own.
What a fun conclusion to a great series! The chaos here isn’t deadly – only frustrating – and that makes this a lighter read than the other books, allowing the characters’ wit to shine.
This was a great escape during the world’s current crisis (COVID-19 pandemic). As always, Amy Matayo knows her characters SO WELL, that the reader lives the story right along with them.
The Reunion by Amy Matayo is a novella that concludes the Love in Chaos series. How do you end a series that started with a couple being stranded on a secluded island? With their wedding of course! But the lovable characters from all three of the other books in the series reunite here for a wedding so fitting in every way. I loved seeing all the characters together again and I loved how everything comes full circle— the perfect end to a phenomenal series. I absolutely adored each book in this series and could not recommend it more. I received a digital copy of this book from the author with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
“I now pronounce you man and wife, the best words ever spoken.”
Oh, how I have loved this series so much. Just when I thought it was over, Matayo surprised me with releasing The Reunion, and what a reunion it was. As with the other books in the series, there seems to be chaos that follows this family, even to the altar. This time it’s a snowstorm. This is a must read for anyone who loves a happy ending, and especially if you’ve read the rest of the series. If you haven’t, start with The Waves. Liam‘s heart for Dillon really shines as he makes sure everything comes together for the wedding. Glimpses into all the couples from the series made for much humor. I think my favorite part of the book is the bride and her dad‘s moment. It was truly heartwarming and inspirational. This is a great story for seeing that even when life throws you a curve, you can still have a happy ending.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions in this review are given honestly.
The Reunion wraps up these characters’ happily-ever-afters in an imperfect-yet-perfect way. While unexpected things happen (and will continue!), they don’t have to end there. Positive and happy and good can come of seemingly bad circumstances (like snowstorms and changes of venue). I think this is a timely reminder for this month especially.
I am delighted the world gets to revisit all 6 main characters of Amy Matayo’s series, along with their POVs and snarky humor, in this little novella. It’s a glimpse of their life-directions and it’s HOPEFUL. Plus it’s a chance to see just what formal wear Dillon makes Teddy wear at her wedding!
Thank you to the author for the review copy. This is my honest review.
Some families have all the luck…and it might not always be the good kind. This series started with Dillon’s story. The one where she was stranded on an island, and now that the series is wrapping up, the blizzard of a lifetime is threatening her dream wedding.
I have felt such a connection to these stories and I was beyond excited to have this little gem to tie everything up. My love of the beach and of music, along with two settings of where my sister’s have lived, really bonded me to these characters, but more than that, the magical way that Amy Matayo spins her tales always manages to capture every strand of emotion in my being.
I loved beginning and ending with Dillon and in light of all that’s going on the world right now, I loved the hope that permeated these pages, allowing the reader to recognize that dreams (and life) can be adaptable and rewritten in possibly new and better ways.
Content: mild romance; mild moments of peril
