In the romantic tradition of Dear John, an injured Navy doctor meets two extremely important women whose secrets will change the course of his life in this #1 New York Times bestseller. Trevor Benson never intended to move back to New Bern, North Carolina. But when a mortar blast outside the hospital where he worked sent him home from Afghanistan with devastating injuries, the dilapidated … Afghanistan with devastating injuries, the dilapidated cabin he’d inherited from his grandfather seemed as good a place to regroup as any.
Tending to his grandfather’s beloved beehives, Trevor isn’t prepared to fall in love with a local . . . yet, from their very first encounter, Trevor feels a connection with deputy sheriff Natalie Masterson that he can’t ignore. But even as she seems to reciprocate his feelings, she remains frustratingly distant, making Trevor wonder what she’s hiding.
Further complicating his stay in New Bern is the presence of a sullen teenage girl, Callie, who lives in the trailer park down the road. Trevor hopes Callie can shed light on the mysterious circumstances of his grandfather’s death, but she offers few clues–until a crisis triggers a race to uncover the true nature of Callie’s past, one more intertwined with the elderly man’s passing than Trevor could ever have imagined.
In his quest to unravel Natalie and Callie’s secrets, Trevor will learn the true meaning of love and forgiveness . . . and that in life, to move forward, we must often return to the place where it all began.

This was an original tale with a different kind of “feel-good” love story. The plot developed around the characters’ lives. We all have “wounds” from or in our lives. You can feel yourself drawn into their small town and their lives and the loving and caring and trying to help others and how, in doing so, it helps and heals the wounded in all of us.
Another great Nicholas Sparks book, Highly recommend!
This is an easy read and enjoyable book. It’s written from a man’s perspective which was interesting. I liked learning about bees, psychology and nature as side stories in the book. The positive strength and integrity of the characters was heartening – no bad guys or evil characters needed.
I just finished this book. I’ve read Sparks books before and this one was as good if not better than the others. A really good read.
Nicholas Sparks always delivers an emotional and realistic story
Just a good old fun love story from old Nicky Sparks. Always a good tale.
Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite writers in the world. I’m always inspired. Guaranteed to fall in love with his characters and excited to go on yet another journey to small town USA. xoxo’x Judy.
You can always count on Nicholas Sparks to entertain you! His characters are realistic and full of life. Ver enjoyable!
I’ve enjoyed a majority of Nicholas Sparks’ books that I’ve read. I would have to say this one ranks among the very best. The characters are extremely well developed and realistic, and there are twists and turns. It was a read that put into the minds of the characters and the place setting. I would highly recommend this book to others.
Another great book from Sparks, he never disappoints.
Always enjoy Nicholas Sparks books
This is a moving read similar to the “Notebook” lost loves and second chances. Some unexpected twists and drama keep you turning the pages.
Not as demanding to be read as some of Sparks wonderful books, but still a great read from a great author!
I have read every single novel by Nicholas Sparks & this was a total disappointment. Disjointed story. Not up to his standard.
Who doesn’t love Nicholas sparks
I haven’t read a Sparks book that I didn’t enjoy!! This was a little different the way the story is told. Loved the lessoned learnd and the respect shown for the grandfather. Very enjoyable!!
A good read with life’s twist & turns.
When I see a book authored by Nicholas Sparks, I immediately expect an entertaining and interesting book. I was not disappointed in “The Return”.
Another typical Nicholas Sparks book, it did enjoy it.
A clean romance with some intrigue and all likable characters. The small mysteries keep the reader wanting to keep turning the pages till the end. A happily ever after for all involved. Nicholas Sparks really knows how to draw on our emotions.
