Hounded by paparazzi, Dylan McAthie—the former lead guitarist for Crucified, Dead and Buried—craves quiet anonymity to regroup and sort out his life. An accident leaves him dependent on the family he once ran from, with no choice but to return to the small town of Pine Bluff, Alabama. Hired by Dylan’s estranged brother, private-duty nurse Jennifer Adams remembers the charming boy Dylan was before … was before fame and misfortune. And she notices he’s developed a knack for blaming everyone else for his problems, rather than bothering with introspection. She’s not having it.
Despite their clashes, as her patient heals, the chemistry between them grows undeniable—until scandal finds Dylan again, threatening to destroy the progress he’s made and the couple’s growing respect and affection. Can Dylan fix what fame has so easily broken? Or will his public resurrection mean the death of any relationship with Jennifer?

This is my first read by this author and I was glad I gave her a chance. Her characters and the blurb drew me into what I hoped wouldn’t be the sex filled rocker book but an emotional journey instead. I was happy that I was correct. This emotional roller coaster was just that, Dylan although the older of the two sometimes felt just as emotionally young. Never facing up to issues just running and letting others handle the fallout had been his norm. Having her as his nurse, well she might be enough to finally cause him to stop running and face things head on. She knew him and had dreamed of more than that one moment in time imprinted on her memories and now she was his nurse. Hiding from a life that was less, she finds herself immersed in a tornado of Dylan. I have to admit while it is a well written and great story her over the top reactions and their inability to have open communication almost did me in at one point. However I did truly enjoy this introduction to this author and plan on reading more of this series.
Loved this book. The story line between Dylan and Jennifer is beautifully written and keeps you turning the pages.
I always start by saying love stories aren’t my genre. But Nancee Cain’s story is more than just that. The story has more to it than “boy meets girl” There is tradition, family, mistaken truths. Of course, sexual tension is always a good addition to any love story. An easy, very fast read. Plan to read it all at once.
I love messy, genuine heroes and heroines who make mistakes.
When my day job gets frantic I love to be able to immerse myself in a book series where the characters are real and compelling and the story believable and interesting. I’m so glad I found Nancee Cain’s Pine Bluff series.
I love that Dylan has flaws, and that Jennifer is an awkward home-town girl. But what I love even more is how they work through their issues. Nancee Cain takes you inside their heads and shows you how they make each other better. It’s sweet (but pretty spicy) and satisfying.
Probably the best part of the book is the setting, which is distinctively southern. There is no faking the small details and there’s no stereotypes. After a while you start getting thirsty for some sweet tea and a nice shady tree to read under.

An inspiring story of two lost souls, finding each other and themselves.
Many lives have moments so broken there seems no hope.
The dream each one could find the exact person that frustrated & inspired to heal is beautiful. Sweet innocence to the jaded soul. Steamy and full of all lives most inconvenient misconceptions. Blessed are those who live out these circumstances in the humble peace of privacy.
The Resurrection of Dylan McAthie will leaving wanting to hug Dylan and Jennifer and then smacking them both. Stubbornness and lack of communication make things harder for these two than they need to be. Will they ever get it together? This is the first book I’ve read by Nancee Cain and it was so good! I loved the characters and the story line had me hooked! I can’t wait to read the next one.
This is the first book in a new series, and what a fantastic introduction Dylan and Jennifer are. Dylan is the typical bad boy rock star, whose life is in a total shamble, and after a bad accident he returns to his home town to heal. Jennifer is hired to nurse Dylan back to health, and she used to be his next door neighbour. This is a well written story with witty banter, and I was enthralled throughout, and cannot wait to read more in this amazing series.
This was a really fun Rockstar romance with lots of twists. Dylan runs away at 17 and becomes a rock star. Unfortunately life doesn’t always go as planned.Dylans band breaks up and a few other things happen then he’s in a car accident. Welcome to Pine bluff Dylan’s grandmothers home and his nurse Jennifer. His brother hired her and try as he might to fire her it won’t work. They’ve met before but he doesn’t remember. If you like angst and humor and love great read.
Dylan and Jennifer’s story is emotionally volatile, to say the least. As they both learn to communicate with each other, Dylan finds a way to do the same with his brother. With Dylan making less than wise choices, and Jennifer not listening, will this couple ever make it? Just for the record, I don’t like what papparazzi does to people.
A gorgeous talented rock star, Dylan, is crashing out of control-his band broke up, he’s estranged from his family and he lost 2 of his friends to overdoses. After a car wreck Dylan sneaks out of the hospital to avoid the Paparazzi, to recoup in Alabama- a place he had escaped from 13 years earlier. A young, inexperienced nurse, Jennifer, is hired by Dylan’s brother to take care of him. It was a predictable romance of the bad boy and the Virgin. That being said it was an enjoyable read especially the chit chat between Dylan and Jennifer. So looking forward to my next visit to Pine Bluff and it’s endearing cast of characters.
Dylan was once a young man who wanted to be a rock star. Now he’s back home, after living that life. He needs time to heal in many different ways. Jennifer is a ministers daughter who has led a very strict life. She is hired to be Dylan’s personal nurse. She was expecting the sweet boy she once knew but he is definitely not that boy anymore. Being a star really changed him, and not in a good way. Together, these two need to figure out who they are, what they want from life, and figure out why they are so attracted to each other. Can these two have a relationship even though they are complete opposites and leading different lives?
I love angsty rock star romances and this one delivered in spades. I love reading about broken people who find their ways back to the light and this book delivers. I also really liked the fact that the main female character worked in healthcare so I was really able to relate to her
This is the third book of Nancee’s that I’ve read, but the first of her stories that wasn’t set within the supernatural genre. Having met and spoken with the author numerous times, I can attest to her true southern charm, and the first book of the Pine Bluff series does an excellent job of immersing the reader into the rural life of Alabama, so much so that I was yearning to take her book and sit out on the porch with a cool glass of lemonade.
I enjoyed the sassy banter between Dylan and Jennifer, as well as the fast wit amongst all the characters. There is great chemistry between Dylan and Jennifer, especially when they are far away from the prying eyes of Jennifer’s church congregation and Dylan’s entourage and paparazzi stalkers. Even if the characters are dealing with some larger than life dilemmas, there is plenty of heart to offset the extraordinary circumstances.
There are still things I would have liked to learn about both Dylan and Jennifer’s backstories – things I felt would have connected me more to them, but overall I enjoyed The Resurrection of Dylan McAthie. Once I crossed the halfway point of the book, I found it harder to set the story aside and I finished the book much quicker than I started it.
I’ll definitely return to Pine Bluff to see what happens to some its other interesting residents. There are a multitude of possibilities with this series, and I’d happily recommend this book to those who enjoy celebrity, sweet, and southern romances.
Was given this book as a gift and leave an honest review. This is something I don’t normally read. This is about a music star who is out of control in his life. After a serious car accident he goes home where he left when he was 17. And his private nurse has liked him since she was a little girl. It’s hard for him to accept help, especailly with his injuries and he can’t see.
The Resurrection of Dylan McAffie starts with a rather unusual scene that pulls a reader in, and it doesn’t stop there. This beautifully written, emotional tale and it’s charming characters absolutely blew me away.
Dylan and Jennifer are like oil and water, but at the same time, completely perfect for each other. Dylan is jaded, world-weary, and short-tempered, but there’s a kind and caring man hiding behind his walls. I spent so much of this book alternating between wanting to hug this endearing, crazy man and wanting to shake him until his teeth rattled. Jennifer is young and innocent, and she often acts with the impetuousness of youth. This pair kept me laughing and shaking my head, and even when I felt like knocking their heads together, I couldn’t help but root for their happy ending.
Jaded rockstar and innocent preacher’s daughter – what could possibly go wrong? As it turns out, quite a lot, and the emotions are all over the place. I laughed, I cried, I ooh’d and aah’d, and I laughed some more. This completely engaging story grabbed hold and didn’t let go as I met the characters of Pine Bluff. Cain has created a town that feels like home and I can’t wait to revisit this charming world.
My oh my is book is fantastic. Dylan and Jennifer and completely great together and I love how he finally opens up and starts just being himself with her not the fake bravado that he has made. But problems rear their ugly heads and he has choices to make. It’s an amazing book that you have to read.
This is a fantastic and fabulous story. You need to read it. There are many topics that take place and they are handled with care.
5 emotional stars.
