A second chance at the one thing his billions can’t buy…As a trauma surgeon, Isabelle Rockwell has devoted her life to helping others. Her life is too crazy for romance…despite a powerful attraction to a stranger during an unexpected layover in Italy. But there’s no time to obsess over the mystery man. Recurring dreams of her mother are calling her home to the family lodge in the mountains, … mountains, where a surprise guest is staying for the holidays—who else but her airport hottie!
Battling a takeover, billionaire Lyle Guero has been asked by his board of directors to lay low. What better place than Rocky Peak Lodge, his latest silent investment, home to the woman who’s haunted his thoughts since Rome? Independent, fascinating, equally career-focused, she’s the perfect temporary distraction.
But he didn’t count on the holiday spirit, the zany Rockwell family, or the danger lurking in the snowy shadows of the Cascades.
How far will two renegade hearts go for a chance at love?

A new Jennifer Bernard book…just in time for the holidays. Everything about this story puts you in the Christmas spirit!
Always love Jennifer Bernard!!!!
Love love love Jennifer’s series!!
If you have been reading The Rockwell Legacy stories, The Renegade is the latest. This time, it is about Isabelle Rockwell, twin sister to Jake (we met him in previous books), a trauma surgeon working with Doctors Without Borders. She’s come home to Rocky Peak Lodge to help her family bring the lodge back to life. (No worries, it is a standalone story however it is much more enjoyable following the antics of this family.)
I won’t get into detail about the story but it starts with a bang, at least for Isabelle, when a very rare occurrence one-night-stand shows up in the lodge at Thanksgiving. Just so happens that the billionaire helping the Rockwells hang onto their legacy is none other than Lyle Guero…yup, her one night stand. The re-meet/cute is fun, well, at least for Lyle, but these two are combustible. Both have backgrounds that shaped who they are today. At least Isabelle has a loving, make-you-crazy family while Lyle was an orphan who struggled in the early years of his life. As you can imagine, Isabelle’s family dynamic makes for a ton of laughs and they are the most loyal bunch you can imagine. Lyle is like the kid standing outside the candy store, looking in the window, wondering what he has missed all his life.
There is intrigue and mystery but also some fun times and sexy-times, all within a great story. Lyle will touch your heart, as he did mine. Isabelle is a fireball and may have been the one sibling closest to her mother than the rest. Reading about both and what they are working thru made such a great read. I can’t wait to read more about these siblings and their new ‘significant others’.
Steamy, romantic, fun for the holidays! Loved it!!
These covers–and this series–keep getting better. You’ll swoon over The Renegade!
Each book in this series just keeps building on the awesomeness of it all!! I absolutely love Isabelle and Lyle as a couple but I just love them as people too!!! I find them to be complex but also really down to earth characters. Isabelle is caring and fun but she can be so sassy too. Lyle is so much more than his nickname of “Lyle the Pile” lol, he is quite charming and kind and not at all cold and calculating like people think because he is a billionaire. I really love their story and everything they go through from the funny to the sweet, and all the sexy steamy moments in between. It was a pleasure to watch them grow as a couple from that stolen night they met in Rome to that dangerous day in the woods. I also love that we get so much of the Rockwell family in this book just like the others and I felt like I was right there with them for their fun and fantastic Holiday traditions!! Can’t wait for Grace’s book up next!!
The Renegade is a fantastic contemporary romance with a twist of suspense by Jennifer Bernard. Ms. Bernard has given readers a well-written book populated with an outstanding cast of characters. Isabelle is a trauma doctor that works in hotspots around the world, in the worst conditions. Lyle is a billionaire orphan that grew up in foster homes. They spent one night together when their flights were grounded. Months later Lyle found Isabelle at her family lodge. Isabelle and Lyle’s story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to my next book by Jennifer Bernard. The Renegade is book 3 of The Rockwell Legacy but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Loved the idea how the Rockwell’s challenge each other and the non Rockwell’s went along with the challenges. I was glad Isabelle found love and how she realized that her heart found love.
fun read
Enjoyable
Love this family!!
Loved this story!! The third story in the Rockwell family and we finally get to meet Isabelle, a trauma surgeon whom is home for the holidays, and only the holidays. Not expecting to ever see the man from a wonderful night in Rome, Lyle. Billionaire, Lyle has arrived at the lodge to lay low during a takeover, hoping to find the lady that is still haunting his dreams.
Both Isabelle and Lyle are strong willed personalities and not looking for the forever. But after spending the fun filled holiday, things may change. Loved the chemistry between these two. Such fun family traditions the Rockwells have. Love catching up with the rest of the family. With the added element of the mystery, makes for the perfect read. Can’t wait to read the next installment!! Highly recommend.
The Renegade is book three in the Rockwell Legacy series. This is Isabelle and Lyle’s story, and it sucked me right in. I really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend this book.
The Renegade by Jennifer Bernard continues her fun The Rockwell Legacy series. We met Izzy and Lyle at the end of the Rogue and they definitely do not disappoint. Izzy definitely holds her own among the Rockwell siblings. Lyle is her perfect match, he listens to what she says and helps her reach her goals. We find out more about Amanda Rockwell and her life in this installment and it changes things from the previous books. I am all in on this series and can’t wait to see how the last two books play out.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
A homecoming, a bit of mystery, and the last man she ever expected to see again! With the next book in The Rockwell Legacy, we see the lodge renovation making progress, get updates on the two couples we’ve loved in previous books and begin Isabelle’s journey to love. I enjoy this family and series very much overall, but found this particular book to be lackluster. Her back story wasn’t built up nearly as well as her brother’s had been in their earlier stories, and the connection between she and Lyle just fell a little flat for my taste. Still enjoyed the story, just not my favorite in the series. Looking forward to more to come!
Doctor Isabelle Rockwell is finally making the journey home after working with Doctor’s Without Borders in faraway places. She’s torn about her journey. She enjoys the work she gets to do for people who really need it, but she misses her family and a recurring dream about her mother finally has her unable to stay away any longer. She needs to know what’s pulling her home once and for all … but she never expects to see a familiar face when she gets there!
Billionaire Lyle Guero is having a takeover crisis at his company and lying low while things get ironed out, so what better place to visit than his latest project? He’s the silent investor that is enabling Rocky Peak Lodge to be returned to it’s old glory again, so he’s excited to get to see how it’s coming along, and get a feel for what the lodge will feel like when it’s open and thriving once again. He doesn’t know Izzy will be there, but he’s thrilled to get to reconnect with the woman who caught his eye when they were stranded together in Rome overnight!
I swear each book in this series gets better and better! I loved Lyle and Isabelle’s story. Two people from two completely different worlds are exactly what they never knew they needed. It’s sexy and emotional, heartbreaking and heartwarming. I absolutely loved the banter and craziness of the holidays with the Rockwell family! I laughed out loud so many times! This is a series, a family, you want to read and be a part of.
Jennifer Bernard takes us back to Rocky Peak Lodge and the Rockwell Clan in The Renegade, which is the third book in this series. I love this family, and wish I could head to Rocky Peak just to hang out with them. Bernard has created a family and characters that you can’t help but love. Isabelle and Lyle are two strong people who fit together perfectly. They understand each other and what the other needs. Isabelle cares for Lyle the person, not the billionaire, and watching their relationship strengthen was fun to watch. The Rockwells and their interactions with each other and their growing clan are hysterical to watch. I love the way they have created their own wacky Christmas traditions that they all love and want to continue. I am also intrigued that there is still more to uncover when it comes to their mother, with both her life and accident. Jennifer Bernard has perfected her ability to create characters and storylines that are likeable and full of humor. She always tosses in an unexpected twist, as well. This can work as a standalone novel, but, and I have said it before, why would you want to miss a word of the story? Thanks to a tease at the end of this one, I am anxiously awaiting the release of book four!

How can you not love this series? The Rockwell family has had some recent mystery in their lives and it is spread through out each of these books. Add snow, romance, and a lodge remodel to the mix of finding out what really happened to their mother and you have the perfect winter romance to sit by a fire and read.
Isabelle is a trauma surgeon that has returned home to the family lodge for Christmas. Lyle is a rich billionaire that has loaned the family some money to remodel the lodge. What the family did not know is Isabelle had already met Lyle in Rome while being snowed in and not being able to leave.
The fun family traditions in this book will leave you laughing and turning pages to see what they do next. The epilogue in the book will leave you wanting more Rockwell reading as soon as possible.
Jennifer Bernard continues to blend together a little mystery and intrigue with romance in the latest series. This series just keeps getting better and better!
WOW!! I loved, loved, loved reading Isabelle and Lyle’s story in The Renegade by Jennifer Bernard, book three in her The Rockwell Legacy series. After one night spent together, stranded in Rome, Lyle Guero has not been able to forget Isabelle Rockwell; investing in her family’s lodge because of her. After returning to Doctors Without Borders in Sudan, Isabelle has been unable to forget Lyle. If her dreams aren’t about Lyle then they feature her mother; possibly sending her a message from the grave. Both Lyle and Isabelle are strong people who consider themselves renegades. My problem with the use of this term is a renegade is someone who betrays and these two just like, maybe love, to bend the rules to suit themselves. Finding each other at Rocky Peak Lodge just made this story better, funnier, and fun. The time they spent together that Christmas gave them a chance to learn about each other and give their love at first sight relationship a chance to develop and bloom. The antics, love, and pranks that the Rockwell family played on each other led to some hilarious situations as well as their approval of Lyle as a perfect match for Isabelle. However, if only the outside world wouldn’t interfere in their chance for love and a happy ever after.
Ms. Bernard wrote an amazing, steamy, and fantastic must read book. This story is filled with sexual chemistry, fun dialogue, and endearing characters; as well as heartbreak, and conflict. I highly recommend The Renegade to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.
