“I loved the fact the story was built on interpersonal relationships, not sex. The main characters fell in love slowly and honestly… Melissa Storm is a pro at character development, and it shows.” ★★★★★ from Becca
“What a great book! It grabs you at the first page and doesn’t let go until the last page.” ★★★★★ from Alice Shepherd
“Such a strong and powerful story that will make you laugh, make you cry… and yes, believe in answers to your prayers.” ★★★★★ from Rosemary Pfeiffer
“Melissa’s Storm’s writing is so vivid that I felt as if I were the one falling in love for the first time and I even caught myself grinning goofily from ear-to-ear as Summer and Ben fall in love.” ★★★★★ from C.L.

Too predictable.
This story about how Ben & Summer fall in love and choose to deal with their pasts keeps readers interested until the very last page.
A good read with characters who are, deep down, good people. Doesn’t get too deep into issues like forgiveness, salvation, etc. If you’re looking for a good story to take you away from it all for a couple of hours, you’ve found it in this book. Enjoy!
Kind of silly. The characters were supposed to be in their 20s, but acted like teenagers.
It took me awhile to get into it, but I did finish it and it was a good small town feel of how two people can fall in love.
Thank you for writing this heartwarming book.
Reading this was more on the “slow” side. The end was out of character for the young man. That being said, there were parts that were cute but I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend.
I stopped about half-way through. I found it very depressing and not very believable.
An enjoyable book to read.
I loved the characters and the sweet story. They were a breath of fresh air., I was sorry when it ended
It’s a sweet story, and with demonstration of handling true challenge.
Excellent read!!!
The opening was gripping and just like real life. I experienced a lot of different emotions while reading. I feel like I can relate with the author and what she was sharing with her story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more.
I loved reading Summer and Ben’s story. “Love’s Prayer” is the first book in the First Street Church romance. I can tell I will be reading them all and have already pre-ordered the second book in the series, “Love’s Promise”. Ben has endured much pain for a man in his 20’s. He has given up a tremendous amount of himself to help take care of his mom after his brother committed suicide and his father left. Summer, a recent summer graduate, does not know what to do with her life but is asked to take care of her Aunt’s florist while she is away on a cruise of a lifetime. A wrong delivery of flowers by Summer allows Ben and Summer to meet. I always say that things happen for a reason and God sure had plans for both Ben and Summer. The problem is that neither quite knows what “it” is but with God leading the way, they find “it”. Dealing with real-life issues, Ms. Storm writes a great story that has characters that find strength and determination to deal with their lives.
Original First Street Church Romance Series
Wonderful story! This is Book one of the original 4 books that began the popular series. This is a sweet and clean romance with strong faith elements. I can see why Amazon chose this as one of their Kindle Worlds. I have other of this author’s works and this is the high quality that I have come to expect from her. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to share my honest review.
I like stories where the characters try to do good and this is one of them. Summer is upbeat, perky, and kind. Ben tries to help others, even though he is depressed. The story was a nice escape. I only gave it 3 stars because the two main characters are always in their own head and having negative thoughts or trash talking themselves. They are happy, but they don’t deserve to be happy kind of thoughts. Everyone in town is nice, even when they are jealous or unhappy.
With that said, it still was a nice bit of escapist literature.
This is a hard review to give. The story was ok but I had a hard time getting into the story and characters. Summer was a visitor to the small town. She was only there for a few months to help her Aunt Iris and run her floral shop and take care of her bird.
Ben had grown up in this small town and after his brother committed suicide, his mother began to drink and his father left town and he was left to take care of his mother. He had given up so much. He had to give up a full scholarship to college. He was working at a small-town grocery store and had no hope for his future or his mother’s. Then, Summer showed up and his world began to change.
Again, this really is a sweet story. It is clean, no foul language and no sex. The message is a good message and for those things I liked the book but I just couldn’t get into the story.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this story. I’d already read book #2 in the series, so I wanted to read this one as well. It was a wonderful story of faith, love, family and friends. It tells a story of how life can appear to be at it’s bleakest, and a little faith and love can help turn it around. In this case, both Summer and Ben were at different crossroads in their journey through life. Together with the town of Sweet Grove they were able to find the right path. I’m looking forward to reading more about the people of Sweet Grove.
This is a book that is well worth reading!!
A great story about finding love amongst the trials life throws at you. Loved the story and the easy with which the book flowed.
