Once, the name Macalister Hale was uttered in the boardroom with respect. Now, it’s whispered in disgrace at cocktail parties hosted by Boston’s elite.Scandal nearly destroyed me, but the one thing larger than my infamy is my bank account, and I’ve learned money can solve anything.Well—almost anything.Sophia Alby’s preferred currency is secrets and the way she trades information puts Wall Street … information puts Wall Street to shame.
This girl charges into my life and claims a partnership can restore my reputation. My downfall was swift, but with her, my climb to redemption will be greater.
Our arrangement is professional. Appropriate. It has to be, because she’s half my age. But it doesn’t stop me from wanting . . .
To move on. To control and indulge in her. To hear the name Macalister Hale echo in her breathy moans.
But I can’t. Giving in to temptation led to my undoing before, and I won’t survive it a second time.

The Redemption
Filthy Rich Americans #4
By: Nikki Sloane
REVIEW
Are some people so vile that they can never be redeemed? Take Macalister Hale, for example. He’s the guy the devil calls for advice, but is he still the same wicked villain? The Redemption is his story, so if you’ve loathed Macalister, of course you have, now is your chance to…not hate him? love him? This story is so clever and flies in the face of conventional thinking. Yes, Macalister has changed. Really. Sophia comes into his life with a plan to help him show that redemption can happen. She’s a woman you don’t want to cross because she knows your, and everyone else, secrets. This information is like currency. Macalister and Sophia have great chemistry. Remember, he’s an older guy, but I like that. Men of age are experienced, commanding, sophisticated and much more self aware than the younger generation of boys. Macalister is that hot older guy you would love to get your hands on! With Sophia, he can repair a demolished reputation and maybe lay some personal demons to rest. I love this story because it’s so unexpected and authentic. Nikki Sloane has changed my mind about Macalister Hale, and that is miraculous indeed. She must be a witch or something. Anyway, read this and be amazed!
Nikki Sloane writes another steamy winner with Book 4 in her Filthy Rich Americans series!
One of the best redemptions of a villain I’ve read. I loved Macallister Hale from the other three books and was hoping she would give him his own redemption tale. She totally redeemed him. I loved this so much!
I’m truly in awe of how Nikki Sloane managed to actually redeem a character like Macalister in my eyes! In the past 3 books, he was one of those characters that I can’t decide if I love or hate! The events in this book are taking place approximately 2 years after what happened at book 3. Get ready for a wild ride!!
Macalister is back after spending 2 years in prison, but the reception he gets is nothing like he used to. He’s not the King anymore. Everything that happened tarnished his reputation and he lost some of the respect he got. Now most people fear him and stir clear from him. Enter Sophia, a woman on a mission that won’t take no for an answer. She’s determined to make a deal with him and she’s ready to do anything to achieve her goal.
When I’m with you, everything outside of that ceases to exist.
I won’t tell you more about the plot since I don’t want to spoil the story. What I want to discuss is the relationship between Macalister and Sophia. Many factors might deem this relationship forbidden, but neither of them backs out from a challenge. There’s attraction and passion and when they finally succumb a sizzling fire explodes from the pages. Macalister is a master of seduction and his eyes are set on Sophia. I have to tell that he definitely found his match. Sophia is a woman that may surrender to him physically but she’s as good at chess as he is!
I loved the “Filthy Rich Americans” series since book 1. Nikki Sloane wrote a series that is both unique and awesome. All the books are filled with passion, hotness and of course secrets. The players are moving their chess pieces, but you won’t know who wins until the end! I was really excited about Macalister’s book and it exceeded my expectations. Hopefully we’ll get Vance’s book soon!!!
I have loved all of the books in the Filthy Rich Americans series and Macalister Hale has the spotlight in Book #4 The Redemption. Undoubtedly Macalister was loathsome, manipulating, cunning and at times heartless in all of the 3 books prior. However, there were glimpses of something underneath that showed he was human and actually cared deeply. But there is no denying the issue that he was too consumed and obsessed with Marist. But now Macalister is back home after being released from prison and has to try to resume his stature and standing in the community. Being the richest is not enough, Macalister wants to be respected again. In walks Sophia Alby. She has a proposition for Macalister. Sophia will help him regain his reputation. She admits it will be a power play for her so it’s a win win for them both. What they don’t anticipate, after they enter into this partnership, is the force and connection that their physical attraction causes. The age gap and dominance fuels the heat. There are many twists. You definitely see Macalister not as the man to hate, but the man you want for your very own. The Redemption definitely needs to be your next 1 click!!!
Readers a wow-ed and devouring the fourth book in Nikki’s Sloane’s Filthy Rich Americans series!
I loved Macalister in the first three books in this series even though he was the ‘bad’ guy so to say I was excited to read his story is an understatement. And OMG! It’s fantastic! The storyline is brilliant and had me hooked from the start. Macalister and Sophia’s chemistry is off the charts hot, but what they have goes deeper than just physical attraction. They’re made for each other. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it!
This book was everything I needed in Pandemic 2020. I have been *dying* for Macallister’s story ever since I finished the Filthy Rich Americans trilogy. And This. Did. Not. Disappoint. Macallister crackles on every page. One of the best anti-heroes I’ve ever read. Sophie is the perfect match for him, and these two were oh-so-sexy together. I need more Macallister epilogues!
I never knew exactly how badly I needed Macalister Hale’s book until I finally had it in my hands!
Macalister was really hard to love in the first 3 books of this series, but there were small glimpses into his true character and the thought that he was redeemable was always there. At the end of The Deception, I was left feeling robbed of Macalister’s story. I knew he had greatness in him, and I knew he could be the Hero of his own story. Well, Nikki must of heard us because we now have it. And what a great story it is!
The Redemption starts off with Macalister’s return to Cape Hill after serving his time in prison. He sets out to repair the damage done to his reputation, going about it the only way he really knows how, by intimidation and money. Little does he know someone already has their eye on him. Sophia Alby throws herself in Macalister’s path, hoping to entice him into hiring her as his assistant. She has the skill and the knowledge needed to repair his reputation, but she also wants something from him, something only he can provide…revenge. Their agreement leads to more than either of them bargain for.
This book was EVERYTHING I wanted for Macalister. It was so fulfilling to watch him grow and change over the course of the book. His moments of vulnerability and lose of control were so amazing to watch, to see that he is just as human as everyone else. Sophia was perfect as the h, with here own issue and vulnerabilities. She was a perfect balance to Macalister’s rough edges. I highly recommend reading this book, even if you were not a fan of Macalister from the first 3 books. He definitely found redemption in this story!
These words. These characters. A top read for 2020 that wil absolutely floor you, gut you, make you have to change your panties and completely make you happy by the end. Her characters are these people that we dream of; rich, dominating, and gets whatever they want. Theee books are worth everything and are filled with so many thing you love in a romance, you will one click nikki sloane forever.
The only way to describe nikkis writing it is EVERYTHING you need!! The words come to life as you blaze through the pages of this book (and any other book she writes for the matter!). An absolutely MUST READ by this amazing, over the top author!!
I absolutely loved the past 3 books of this series and totally had a love/hate relationship with Macalister. At times, I wanted to devour him and other I wanted to strangle him. But, Nikki sloane sure knows how to make a hated character turn over a new leaf. Sophia is a very manipulative, rich girl who gets what she wants every time. Their age gap just plays an even steamier, forbidden aspect of this story. This should be a one click, no brained buy for all romance lovers!!
This series is amazing! Dive in and enjoy.
MACALISTER, THE MAN THAT YOU ARE TODAY !!!
I was insanely intrigued by his character in the first book then he got WEIRD but I still wanted to see where his story went. His redemption started by the end of book 3 and I just knew his story was going to be unparalleled.
In this story we get to see a deeper, emotional side to Mac and I am so grateful for it. It was such a relief to see that he isn’t evil incarnate. He just needs to be loved. Sophia was his perfect counterpart and I adore the way she challenged and complemented him.
Sophia is the kind of person that scares me but I’m also so in awe of her that I’m halfway in love with her. I almost thought that she was a secret agent the way she threw off Mac. WHAT A QUEEN!
This story was hot, passionate while being emotional at the same time. I think this might be my favourite in the series. The Hale family is finally healing from their tumultous past and I am so damn happy for them. There is just one story left in this world and I CAN’T WAIT FOR IT!!!
I LOVE THIS SERIES SOOOO MUCH.
This was so good and sooooo steamy!!!
If you pay any attention to my reviews at all, you’ll know Filthy Rich Americans was my favorite trilogy of 2019! With that being said you can deduce this book was one of my most anticipated releases of 2020!!!!
Macalister, definitely the villain of the series, has served his time and now he’s back and he’s trying to rebuild the Hale name and hopefully repair the damage done to his relationships with his family. Enter an unlikely ally, Sophia Alby. Sophia is the queen of secrets in Cape Hill and vows to help make Macalister look like a hero if he helps her in her quest to unearth a secret.
This book has it all, an interesting and intriguing plot, secrets, a major character overhaul, a charming yet formidable heroine, big age gap, and some steamy scenes that will light your Kindle on fire!!! Oh, Daddy! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. Yet another fantastic addition to an already stellar series!
Wow!!! Macalister Hale stole my heart!!
Macalister Hale spent three books being the devil in plain sight, the man everyone loved to hate. The irredeemable manipulator of people’s thoughts and feelings. He was the quintessential bad man with no regard for how his wants affect those around him.
Including his own sons.
The trilogy came to a close with all seemingly lost for this most ruthless of men. It was a fabulous series, one that I read with baited breath.
It pales in significance to this single, stand-alone companion.
The Redemption isn’t simply a title, it’s a beautifully written, skillfully crafted trip into the mind of this man. He’s deep, he’s dark… he’s gorgeous and sinfully, broodingly sexy. He’s also the oldest HOT guy ever to grace the cover and star in a story like this. He’s everything you can imagine and a whole lot more, as Sophia Alby discovers.
Sophia is no shrinking violet, she’s a straight-shooting, strong-willed independent woman. She has an agenda and a plan. One that she needs Macalister’s help with. He balks at first, but Sophia knows how to get her way.
These two were combustible from the outset. It was a battle of wills and the pages were filled with sassy banter and a ton of dirty talk. Passionate and intense, this was a story of a man finding himself, and the woman he truly loves.
Macalister Hale is The Redemption. One-Click this amazing story today and be prepared to see him in a new wondrous light.
*´`*•. 5.5 STAR REVIEW•TOP READ LIST .•*´`*
I was extremely excited to learn we’d get an additional story, based on Macalister Hale, the antagonist featured in the Filthy Rich American series, someone I was sure had many secrets he wanted to keep hidden. And I wasn’t disappointed, The Redemption is the delicious icing on the cake; this ‘darkish’ romance is a #MustRead, only after you’ve read the previous books of course!
The writing is phenomenal, as usual, filled with delightful and surprising tricky twists and turns we’ve come to expect from Ms. Sloane. And can I just say, oh lordy, I’m head over heels in love with Macalister Hale!? This damaged, but still arrogant hero has met his match in Sophia; she constantly surprised him, putting Macalister off his game. I was in awe of her sharp intelligence and quick wit, she was a formidable opponent, and Macalister never knew what hit him. This was the story I was anxiously waiting for and I’m so happy it exceeded all my expectations!
“Twice in my life, I’d been utterly powerless. I did not have the strength to bear it a third time.”
Macalister Hale was back home, ready to reclaim his throne. The two years spent in prison only made him more determined to take back what was his, he’d once been one of the most powerful people in the world, and he wasn’t going to let anyone forget it.
“I didn’t apologize for the things I’d done, not even the terrible ones. For most of my life, I’d been incapable of admitting a mistake, and now it was too late. I didn’t see the point. If you broke a glass, an apology would not put it back together.”
Macalister was going to make sure he took everything back, one way or another. Except for his daughter-in-law, Marist. That obsession had been put to rest; a weaker and lesser man would have been humiliated by the scandal, everyone had heard about it, but it only made Macalister more determined to rise above it and rule his kingdom once again. At fifty-five, he was in his prime. But Macalister is thrown off his “A” game right off the bat; he never expected to be tricked into hiring his new assistant, the young and confidant Sophia.
“Before, he’d been a man who only thought about himself, but it couldn’t be true now. He spent a lot of time thinking about me.”
Sophia Alby had very few real friends. People distrusted and disliked her, but for some strange reason they decided to confide their innermost secrets to her, and as a result she knew the ins and outs of the upper echelon she was a member of. She’d been popular in school, competed in the Olympics, graduated from Colombia, and had over a million followers on Instagram.
“She had an infectious smile, and that saying was appropriate. I was becoming infected by Sophia.”
But at twenty-six, she knew she’d done nothing to please her parents, their only child had constantly seeked their approval. Sophia comes up with a plan to work alongside Macalister, someone she’s always admired, to get their attention but he wasn’t interested on having her on his team. So she made a wager with him for the position, one she knews she wouldn’t lose. There’s a purpose to this, one that will surprise just about everyone. And if some lives are ruined, well then that’s just a little extra somethin’ somethin’.
“I hadn’t seen anyone ever look at me like that before, as if I were the center of their universe.”
Macalister and Sophia soon join forces, confiding in each other, and even have some extra benefits thrown in. But Macalister makes it clear to Sophia there can’t be anything serious between them, he’s learned his lesson well when it comes to all things having to do with love.
“I gave you control over my body, not my heart.” “Last time I checked, the heart is located inside the body.”
This story is so amazing. I loved these two, and when their May-December romance takes off, setting the pages on fire, it had me happy sighing! This is the Macalister I wanted to read about, someone who was knocked down a few pegs, by a spitfire, but rose from the ashes stronger. This is going on my #TopRead2020 list!
“I’m good at nearly everything I do, but there are two things I truly excel at. Banking is the other one.
His redemption was riveting! 5 stars
I was fascinated by the “villain” Macalister in the first three books of the Filthy Rich Americans series, so when I knew I was getting his story I was elated! After the events in the first three books, Macalister needs back into Boston elite’s good graces. I was intrigued at the beginning with the first meeting of Macalister and Sophia, because she says she can help him. It was the spark and pull between them that got my attention, and as their relationship caught fire and his redemption unfolded I was riveted to the pages. I loved that Sophia loved to get under his skin, test him and push him, but she had vulnerabilities that broke my heart. Macalister was an intoxicating mix of relentless cutthroat billionaire executive who was controlling that demanded excellence from everyone around him, and a man coming undone by a woman who challenged him and a family he realizes he needs to heal because all he ever thought about was himself. Some of the history he revealed about himself to Sophia made me ache for him just like she did. He made me swoon a few times! When the story concludes, Macalister has turned from a villain to a hero at the hands of his equal in Sophia and by what he has learned about himself, and it was a magnificent reading experience. This book took me on an a rollercoaster ride of emotions and twists that had me riveted to the pages and loving it immensely.
*I received an advanced copy of this ebook for my honest review.*
I received a free copy of this book from the author.
This is the fourth book in the Filthy Rich Americans series. It is possible to read it as a stand alone, however I wouldn’t recommend it. You’ll miss out on a lot of back story.
This book is the redemption of Macalister Hale. In the first three novels he’s the villain but you do hope that he has some redeeming qualities. Those qualities are honed in this book.
To say Macalister has a type you’d be spot on. Currently they seem to be the same age as his children! Not that there’s anything wrong with that – especially if you have more money than anyone else in your entire community. It can buy you a lot of things, that money, but it can’t buy you love or respect. Both of which Macalister is in search of.
His new assistant, Sophia, is the keeper of the town’s secrets. She knows a lot about all the players in town. Her secrets can help a man like Macalister Hale upon his return to his throne, so to speak.
Yet, Macalister doesn’t want to be the same man he was before. And boy does he do a complete 180. This book doesn’t have any of the angst the previous three books have. It’s a smooth ride with a couple of bumps but mostly this contemporary romance flows right on through to the HEA at the end.
4.5 stars
From the beginning, I have not been able to put this series down and have patiently waited for Macalister’s story. He is a domineering, arrogant, intelligent rich man who wielded his power as if he was a g-d. He is the one that you either love or hate depending on which side of him you fell on. Be that as it may, one could not hold out hope for a way to see through to his core and get to his vulnerable side. Given everything that Macalister has endured, it has brought him to a place of being wiser yet not willing to project anything but authority. Sophia is Marist’s former classmate who knows where the bodies are buried, so to speak, and can use that to her advantage. In order to bring her plan to fruition, she needs to enlist Macalister’s help. He is not exactly receptive to the idea. Will Sophia be able to change his mind? This is one drama filled storyline that has everything including the kitchen sink. It is a page turning older man/younger woman read that proves what can be accomplished with the love of a good woman. It is not a standalone and the books need to be read in order. I look forward to reading more of the Hale family in the future.
Well…this was just a spectacular series! I can’t express how talented Nikki Sloane is. This series is chock full of betrayals, lust, twists and turns, and yes redemption if you can believe it. This is Macalister Hale’s story. And wow!! You will not be able to put this book down. Just like the others of this series, you will be wrapped so deep in the story never wanting to leave. If you want to escape reality for a bit, this is the series for you. It’s beyond entertaining!
