Once, the name Macalister Hale was uttered in the boardroom with respect. Now, it’s whispered in disgrace at cocktail parties hosted by Boston’s elite.Scandal nearly destroyed me, but the one thing larger than my infamy is my bank account, and I’ve learned money can solve anything.Well—almost anything.Sophia Alby’s preferred currency is secrets and the way she trades information puts Wall Street … information puts Wall Street to shame.
This girl charges into my life and claims a partnership can restore my reputation. My downfall was swift, but with her, my climb to redemption will be greater.
Our arrangement is professional. Appropriate. It has to be, because she’s half my age. But it doesn’t stop me from wanting . . .
To move on. To control and indulge in her. To hear the name Macalister Hale echo in her breathy moans.
But I can’t. Giving in to temptation led to my undoing before, and I won’t survive it a second time.

Secrets, scandals and hot, hot, hot encounters! You’ll want to read this one!
I finally got to read this when it came out in audio! Loved it… the first chapter or two it was hard for me to get into (nothing wrong with the writing, it’s a “me issue” with different set-ups/tropes) but I’m SO glad I gave it a chance because the next chapter I got SUCKED IN. And omg this was SO hot and just freaking great. and the narration was fabulous! This is a dark-ish one. Not like dark dark but definitely power games involved.
If you’re looking for a deliciously steamy dark romance, this one is a must-read that hits all the sweet spots of the genre!
I was wary about Macalister Hale being a hero. After all he’s the steamy, dark core of the first three books, but I’m so happy to say The Redemption works beautifully! I loved Macalister and Sophy together. She’s every bit his equal. It was wonderful to be back in this world and I can’t wait for Vance’s book.
Need something to dive into? The Filthy Rich Americans series is darkly erotic and unputdownable. Check it out!
The Redemption is exactly what I was hoping for when I saw Macalister was getting his own book. There’s always been something about him that had me intrigued and wanting to know more. In the end, Nikki Sloane made me fall in love with a man who, at a glance, has few redeeming qualities.
Macalister’s domineering and a bit rigid, with a personality that made him unexpectedly attractive in previous books. He does learn to loosen up just a bit as this book progresses, and Sophia challenges him at every turn. Their story is serious and sexy, but it’s also fun…her sassiness is the perfect foil for his arrogance. Add in their age gap, and this book checks all the boxes for me!
Macalister Hale needed his own story and I loved every minute of it!
Macalister’s redemption, as it’s rightly titled, was stunning. A must-read if you’re a Macalister fan!
” . .”
: adult, huge age gap, office romance, angsty, steamy
As someone who loves age gap, I was a little hesitant about this book due to the huge age gap between the characters (she is 26 and he is 56), but I honestly loved the storyline and characters.
Macalister Hale for years has been called the villain. He is this manipulative cold man, who lusted for his daughter in law and spent the last two years in prison after his wife’s death.
Enter here Sophia Alby, a woman who claims she will save his reputation in exchange to be his assistant.
At first he is a bit hesitant about her work skills, but Sophia proves to be this tenacious hard working woman who fights hard for her goals.
As more time they spend together, they realize they are more alike than they thought and if you add sexual tension, things get more intense.
I wish their conclusion was a bit longer because after everything they have been thru, they deserved an extensive epilogue.
Overall, if you love a good age gap romance with some fluffy scenes, I highly recommend you to read this one!!
What a wild ride! I was really skeptical of Macalister’s redemption but holy shit I loved this story!!!! Sophia is his prefect match. She’s smart, sophisticated, strong, and everything he needs. I cannot stress how much I loved this book and I can’t wait for Vances’s story!
It takes one heck of a storyteller to pull off the redemption of one of my favorite Villains, and Nikki Sloane did it!!
The age-gap is deliciously hot, their chemistry off the charts and the tender vulnerability that transpires is phenomenal!
Macalister Hale, the Man who won’t take “No” for an answer.
Sophia Alby, the match who takes you (and him) by surprise and calls the shots.
Fingers crossed we get a book for Vance!!
I loveddd this.
Stayed true to McCallisters character and allowed for growth.
Sophia is such a badass. I loved her!
This book was great. Plot. Concept. Character evolution. Loved. It. Nikki Sloane
Age gap romance with secrets galore.
Highly recommend!
This series has been amazing. I’ve loved every bit of it and I’m soooo happy Macalister is finally getting his own book. Sophia Alby of all people.. She’s really shown her true colors here.
I don’t wanna say too much, spoilers and all, but the title says it all The Redemption…so I can let you in on a little secret.. Macalister Hale isn’t as bad as anyone thought, duh! Coulda told you that from the get go as everyone loves the anti-hero.
Oh but the lengths the characters had to go to get The Redemption that we, as readers, so desperately needed.
Wonderfully well written with fabulous characterization. Nikki Sloane tells an amazing story with lots of *gasp moments and lots of steamy times.
Another stellar installment in the Filthy Rich Americans series!
Macalister. Fucking. Hale.
That’s it. I’m off to swoon until Vance’s book…
This isn’t your traditional billionaire story, but it resonates with alpha male appeal and the strong woman needed to redeem him. Fans of older man/younger woman, and second chances should 1-click this story.
Oh, Macalister Hale…
I knew reading the first books of this series were supposed to make me not like him. I knew he was supposed to be a villain – a controlling man who would stop at nothing to get the things he wanted. He was a bad man with a not-so-good heart.
I fell for him anyway. And if you’ve followed this series, you’ll understand why. Macalister was addictive before and he’s much more addictive now. He’s not the same man he was two years ago. As his heart thaws, his softer side shines through. He’s charming, attentive, and dare I say even sweet. But not everything has changed. He’s still the dominating alpha male he always was. And this new combination is extremely sexy.
Sophia is the unexpected twist Macalister never saw coming. With her bright personality, penchant for secret-gathering, and ability to make Macalister look good, she’s a welcomed distraction for him. She brings out a side of him he thought was long gone.
This was such a good story. I wouldn’t necessarily call Macalister an underdog but it felt kind of like he was in the beginning. He had to fight to get back in Cape Hill’s good graces, and Sophia was there every step of the way. These two had amazing chemistry and their dynamic really heated up the pages (I’d expect nothing else from Nikki Sloane). And if you’re missing the other Hale family members, you’re in luck. Royce, Marist, and Vance all make an appearance.
This is a fantastic addition to the series and I can’t wait for more!
Nikki Sloane never fails to deliver! And with a wonderful anti-hero, a sassy and fearless heroine, an older man-younger woman, her quintessential HOT scenes and breathless romance, The Redemption drags you into this world and doesn’t let go until the last minute!
Good God. This was so so good.
I always knew beneath Macalister Hale’s ice stare and sharp words lied a romantic and swooney man, but it was SO hidden in there, so much so, that it was hard at first to see how ANY woman could bring that out of him.
Sophia Alby made it possible. And I believe that THIS time, he was more than ready to accept that challenge.
His time away humbled him for sure, but we still got the sane Macalister….but at the same time, different.
I gotta be honest, I didn’t know how Nikki Sloane would pull a Sophia-Macalister duo. I’m so happy to be proven wrong.
Those two were PERFECT for each other. And the sparks where everywhere.
Macalister Hale was (and is still) my favorite Hale. And I love that he finally got his redemption.
“If I had to choose between my desire or my name, I’d choose my legacy. No matter how much I wanted what I couldn’t have.”
And the most controversial and dare I say interesting member of the Hale family is back. Macalister despite arousing adverse feelings in previous books, was still the character with a more interesting trajectory and plot.
With the social prestige so dear to him shaken, and his family name sung in the gossip circles, Macalister’s focus now is on restoring his power and his family’s position in society.
After serving time for the event that occurred in the final part of the previous trilogy, he is back at his mansion, empty due to the departure of his sons and daughter-in-law. But the ghosts of the past are still present, forcing him to live daily with his decisions.
When a beautiful and young help comes his way, willing to help him restore his image, he even tries to deny her, but ends up hooked in the web of an equally intelligent and cunning opponent with a purpose.
Sophia will become his assistant, helping him to change his posture in public, to become more accessible and to show people the new and improved version. A scheme where a picture is worth a thousand words.
But if the relationship between them will be strained, the attraction will be phenomenal, even with the age difference. But for a man who values his image above all else, the scandal of an affair with his assistant can put everything at a loss. Even if the final price is the heart of both.
The book is sexy and erotic. Macalister exudes dominance, power and sex appeal. I agree with Sophia, he is the best male representative of the clan. The secret involving Sophia moves the plot and the interactions between the characters make the pages catch fire.
Despite questionable attitudes, it is impossible not to hope that Macalister will finally achieve his happy ending. Sophia, even young, is exactly who he needs at his side, is strong and faces him as an equal.
I loved the book and loved the scenes involving Lucifer. Who knew that the great villain would have his redemption.
PS: I still don’t like Marist.
The Redemption is book Four of the Filthy Rich Americans Series by Nikki Sloane and let me just say that this beauty is rich, sensuous, and leaves nothing to be desired! Ms Sloane delivers once again in The Redemption and the tone/ mood is so perfectly Macalister.
Told from a dual perspective we finally get insight into what makes Macalister tick. As for Sophia, she is absolutely perfect as a “woman on a mission”; said mission being to help the Phoenix (Macalister) rise from the ashes.
The characters are still entangled in the world of Cape Hill, an extremely affluent community just outside of Boston, yet its main player has come back a changed man.
Some readers may be delighted to know that this is an age-gap novel, Sophia is half Macalister’s age. And while you might not think Macalister will fall for another young woman, this story doesn’t carry that same tone. The urgency and turmoil readers felt in books one through three dramatically changes in book four. This is really and truly a book about Macalister’s redemption and atoning for his manipulative and sinister ways. Macalister wants his family name to be restored and to wipe the stain he created Leaving the Hale name tarnished so he knows a woman like Sophia is off limits. Yet their chemistry is off the charts hawt and the power exchange is so vastly different that you really do get a sense that Macalister has changed. Maybe not at the very beginning…
“… I was desperate to climb back onto my throne and rise above it, rather than play the game with everyone else.“
But in walks Sophia Alby to show Macalister how it’s done.
Macalister and Sophia make the PERFECT power couple, age gap aside. So how will Sophia win Macalister over knowing full well he doesn’t want to invite another scandal at his door?
Sophia negotiates.
Sophia presents Macalister with an arrangement to rebrand the fallen king’s image. A social butterfly, Sophia is a major influencer and promises to change Macalister’s image to reestablish his position at the top of Cape Hill’s elite. Not only that, but Sophia knows Cape Hill’s dirty little secrets and will use what she knows to help get Macalister back to his former glory as a changed man. And Sophia will attempt all this strictly in a professional capacity. Ha good luck!
What does Sophia get in all this? Well, I guess you’ll just have to pick up the book and find out.
Sophia makes great strides with Macalister’s social makeover and every decision made by the blonde bombshell personal assistant humanizes the godlike stature of Macalister.
This is truly his redemption.
Expect this read to be a little different. Enjoy Macalister’s change in all the best of ways while still being the dominant sexy man he’s always been.
I loved this book so much! Hands down Macalister is my favourite character. And while I loved his scenes with Marist in books one through three, I love him even more now.
Standing ovation to Ms Sloane for keeping Macalister real and true to who he is while getting at the heart of what makes this man tick. His redemption is the best kind of sweet there is!
