“An elegant and complex thriller….Harrowingly beautiful.”—New York Times Book Review“A hugely impressive achievement—ambitious in scope, and skilled in execution.”—Los Angeles Times“The Redbreast certainly ranks with the best of current American crime fiction.”—Washington PostNo disrespect meant to Henning Mankell and Stieg Larsson, but Jo Nesbø, the New York Times bestselling author of The … Mankell and Stieg Larsson, but Jo Nesbø, the New York Times bestselling author of The Snowman, is the most exciting Scandinavian thriller writer in the crime fiction business. The Redbreast is a fabulous installment in Nesbø’s tough-as-nails series protagonist, Oslo police detective Harry Hole. A brilliant and epic novel, breathtaking in its scope and design—winner of The Glass Key for best Nordic crime novel and selected as the best Norwegian crime novel ever written by members of Norway’s book clubs—The Redbreast is a chilling tale of murder and betrayal that ranges from the battlefields of World War Two to the streets of modern-day Oslo. Follow Hole as he races to stop a killer and disarm a ticking time-bomb from his nation’s shadowy past. Vogue magazine says that “nobody can delve into the dark, twisted mind of a murderer better than a Scandinavian thriller writer”…and nobody does it better than Jo Nesbø! James Patterson fans should also take note.

Once again Jo Nesbo has crafted a unique read with characters not enjoyed outside of Scandinavian authors. These books encourage one to pursue other authors of the same background such as Willow Rose. My new binge read.
Fabulous mystery.
Many plot twists that make an intriguing novel.
Another in the Harry Hole series about the Swedish detective with the unconventional approach. Great read.
nesbo is always good
Love all of Nesbo’s Harry Hole books – great stories and characters.
I love Jo Nesbo books! Harry Houle is a great character. Great plotting. Interesting to take a glimse into Scandanavian social society.
Jo Nesbo is one of my favorite writers of police procedurals and to all who have not experienced his work, this is a good one to read. His character development is beyond compare and while this particular book is a bit tangled with characters, it all comes together in an interesting way.
Hard to beat Jo Nesbo and Harry Hole
Harry Hole is the most extreme of the depressed Scandinavian detectives. He has great insight and an oversized sense of guilt. I can’t get enough.
Harry hole books always entertaining andcwell written. Early in his career when he meets many of the characters that follow him in the stories. Great writer.
Nesbo is the best!
Jo Nesbo continues to be a favorite of mine.
He is an amazing writer of the thriller/ crime mystery.
One of my favorites!!
Excellent!
I am a long term fan of Jo Nesbo. He describes his settings very well and develops the characters, especially agent Hole.
A great entry into Nesbo. There are some plot arcs in his books which cover many books. You can start here and not miss too much.
Covering how Norway handled WW2 and its aftermath is an interesting plot point.
Nesbo. Is a genius. A pleasure to read.
Enjoyed is not a word that I would be use to describe this book. Impossible to put down is the way I would describe it. Watching Harry as a detective is fascinating. Watching him in his life is like watching a slow-motion train wreck. You hate it but you can’t look away.
Atmospheric police drama. A very human protagonist.
