They say the red zone is the hardest place to score. But for me, those last twenty yards were my sweet spot. They didn’t call me Lukas “Last Minute Lucy” Callihan for nothing.I was at the top of my game…until life sacked me harder than any linebacker ever could.Losing my mom was devastating and left me as the sole person responsible for my little sister.Taking care of Ella and juggling my career … Ella and juggling my career was like playing the hardest game of my life.
My only saving grace was Scarlett Knox, Ella’s sexy, red-headed, no-nonsense teacher.
She loved Ella. She hated me.
She thought I sucked at this parenting thing, and she wasn’t wrong.
But whenever she was around I got the same earth-shattering, heart-stopping feeling I did when I was only twenty yards from the goal line.
She made me feel like I was back in the red zone, a place I’d never fumbled.
Until now.

I love it when a book takes me by surprise, and The Red Zone by Amie Knight totally swept me off my feet. It’s a real feel good story and I absolutely loved it.
The romance between Lukas and Scarlett may be a slow burn but the pacing is just right in my opinion. The whole story flows beautifully and I love the inclusion of their friends and family, even if some of those friendships take some time to evolve and are hard won. There were moments of sadness and reflection but I felt the author kept the overall feel of the book lighthearted. For me, it has just the right amount of drama and angst to give the story depth.
The star of the show was Ella, who is an absolute sweetheart. Her character was beautifully written with respect and understanding. Lukas’ devotion and love for her stole my heart and made me fall for him even more.
There’s lots of wonderful banter between Lukas and Scarlett, brilliantly written, and the many laugh out loud moments earned me some funny looks from my family, particularly when one “hair raising” scene had me in hysterics. The simmering, smouldering sexual tension between them is off the charts but I especially love the way they’re friends before lovers. I have to admit there were moments when I got frustrated with Scarlett and I really wanted to shake some sense into her for dwelling on the past too much. She’s such a lovely person though, a special needs teacher with a big heart, that it was easy to forgive her hesitation and indecisiveness where Lukas was concerned. There are some great supporting characters too and I’m really hoping we get their stories in the future. Scarlett’s interactions with her brother were really fun. I’m dying to know what he’s all about. I want to know more about Mason as well and I have a feeling there’s more to him than meets the eye.
When I finished this story, I felt as though I’d been wrapped in a warm, cosy blanket, almost like a big hug. A truly fabulous, emotional book, full of fun and humor, The Red Zone is sweet, and sexy and was an absolute joy to read.
He was on top of the world, right where he wanted to be, and then with one single phone call it all came crashing down around him.
His priorities changed, his life changed. He changed!
She let him walk away as a teenager, but never forgot him, and wished their story had been different.
Fate puts them in the same town, the same school, the same classroom once again…
What an emotional read. I found myself welling up more than once. Tissues might be required for this folks or maybe I’m just a softie!
I loved everything about this book. From the way it plucked at my heartstrings to the completely adorable characters, and storyline which filled my heart to the brim.
Scarlett has a heart of gold. Shes so pure and innocent, yet firey too. Unknowing but not completely naive in her actions.
Lukas is my new book boyfriend! Hes got the body of a Greek God, the soul of a hopeless romantic and moves on the dancefloor! I couldnt ask for more!!
These two characters will completely melt your heart. They are both so beautiful inside and out. Their intentions so innocent and beyond sweet.
Amie always writes such amazing heartfelt stories that make you swoon and sigh. The love they share falls off the pages and into your own heart, and that to me is what makes her books extra special.
This is worthy of nothing less than Five Stars!!
The hint of Reds best friends story next has left me dancing with joy. I cant wait!!
I just devoured this book. The Red Zone is such a well written story. It’s a second chance tale that melted my heart and left me with the warm fuzzies. I absolutely adored Scarlett, Lukas and Ella. Definitely a book worth giving a try.
The Red Zone is emotional, sweet and laugh out loud funny…I feel like I was the one just swept off my feet!
Lukas and Scarlett met back in high school when he needed a French tutor. As their friendship developed, so did Scarlett’s crush on Luk. A goodbye kiss and he was gone to follow his dream of a football career. I loved the flashback scenes! Ten years later, after the crushing loss of his Mom, he comes home to look after his sister. As luck would have it, he discovers that Scarlett is his sister’s teacher. However, she’s not as happy to see him as he is to see her!
He’s floundering, not coping well with his mother’s death or this “parenting” thing as he tries his best to step in and look after his sister. He ends up enlisting Scarlett’s help and their “friendship” begins again, but they really suck at being just friends! Their encounters and text messages were so entertaining…there’s no way you won’t find yourself laughing!
A slow burn to downright steamy! I’ve definitely found a new book boyfriend because “holy shitake mushrooms that boy was hot”.
The Red Zone was a childhood crush turned to second chance romance. The story of Lukas Callihan and Scarlett were heavy at times and emotional.
The story was easy to read.. fun and flirty..Lukas was a gentleman and a kind brother 😉
The Red Zone by Amie Knight was an emotional, funny and charming second chance romance. Lukas Callihan’s life changed when his mother died and he became the guardian for his younger sister, Ella. Scarlett Knox is Ella’s special needs teacher and has a soft spot for her, her brother, not so much. He had broken her heart years ago, but now Ella needed both of them.
I loved how Lukas had no qualms taking care of his sister. He was so caring and determined. Ella had a heart of gold and loved teaching. Even though Lukas loved his sister, becoming a parent was not easy while also balancing his football career. I loved Lukas, Scarlett and Ella so much. Such a sweet story about loss, love, family and second chances.

Happy reading!
This story was the perfect fit for my rainy day afternoon. What a beautiful, sweet, and yes sexy romance book. So let me tell you a (little) bit about Mister Quarterback and Red. Not too much though cause I am a spoiler free kind of gal. Hee hee
This couple met in high school. He was a senior playing football. Can you guess the position? Haha. Anyway Scarlett (aka Red) winds up being Lukas’ (aka Mister Quarterback) French Tutor. This story flows beautifully back and forth in time. It gives a wonderful foundation and much needed insight when looking back on high school.
This book looks at living with loss and trying to manage ones new reality. You see that finding your way can be so painful and isolating. Lukas’ sister is the icing on the cake. Ummm definitely experienced “all the feels” with her and Lukas’ storyline. The use of “dibs” is ADORABLE which is only one example of all the heart-melting moments.
As someone that is a special education teacher, Scarlett’s profession not only impresses but touches my heart. Eek. I won’t say more other than you MUST read this book. It is an amazing five star book. Happy Reading!
