WWIII explodes in this electrifying debut military thriller in the tradition of Red Storm Rising and The Third World War.“Delta-Two, I’ve got tanks through the wire! They’re everywhere!” World War III explodes in seconds when a resurgent Russian Empire launches a deadly armored thrust into the heart of Germany. With a powerful blizzard providing cover, Russian tanks thunder down the autobahns … cover, Russian tanks thunder down the autobahns while undercover Spetsnaz teams strike at vulnerable command points.
Standing against them are the woefully undermanned American forces. What they lack in numbers they make up for in superior weapons and training. But before the sun rises they are on the run across a smoking battlefield crowded with corpses.
Any slim hope for victory rests with one unlikely hero. Army Staff Sergeant George O’Neill, a communications specialist, may be able to reestablish links that have been severed by hostile forces, but that will take time. While he works, it’s up to hundreds of individual American soldiers to hold back the enemy flood.
There’s one thing that’s certain. The thin line between victory and defeat is also the
red line between life and death.

A close comparison to Tom Clancy’s Red Storm Rising, just set in Germany. Easy to read fairly well researched and interesting to follow, maybe not a page turner but close.
It’s 2019 and considering the current political climate, a really good, scary, and I hope doesn’t happen, read.
The author went into great detail for his characters benefit, it gave them humanity in a war zone setting. The prosecution of the war in this story was not the usual process the US and Allies practices now. Interesting politics involved in the evolution of this story.
As they said…best since Red Storm Rising.
Great book
Another nice example of a what-if between two superpowers. Sometimes the author was spot on and others he fell short for whatever reasons. All in all a good and enjoyable read.
The Red Line grabbed my attention right away. While I think the premise of the tale is rather far fetched, the character development and the multifaceted storyline kept it exciting and interesting. This one was hard to put down.
This is a book that reflects the dangers and impact of impetuous decisions on international issues and a true insight into the impact of the brutality involved in war. Good read
Impossible and very dark
I’d give it 2 1/2 stars if possible.
It had potential, but not as good as “Red Storm Rising” (Clancy) or “Team Yankee” (Coyle) or similar books. Characters not developed and followed in depth. A lot of the book was broad sweeps – big battle, a lot of people died – without much detail. It was like the author couldn’t decide if he was writing about individuals or a general overview of strategy and events peopled by a few examples. The explanation of events leading to war was pretty convoluted and not very plausible to me.
It had great potential but just didn’t deliver. I hope the author will try again. Spend more time on developing and following characters. Also a little more “upbeat” ending. It just kind of stopped on a downer – maybe that was author’s intent.
FYI – I lived in Germany as Army Brat in 50’s & 60’s and in the 70’s while in the Army. Many of us are familiar with the locations, military, etc. so there are some quibbles on these items as well. For example, I just don’t see German refugees attacking American convoy after Russian’s shot up the highway! Just an opinion.
It’s a shame the author didn’t get this book out during the cold war. As it is the plot is contrived and retro. It is no secret that Putin longs to rebuild the Soviet Union or more likely re-establish the old Russian Empire. However to see the return of the Warsaw Pact and the Nazis to Germany is way more than I can suspend my disbelief. This scenerio was much more likely during early 70s when the US was tied up in Viet Nam and Nato much weaker than it is now. Of course our current president could make it much weaker. The ending was unsatisfying and somewhat inconclusive. I also hate it when the heros all die.
This was a fun easy read, haven’t read a WWIII story for a while so this was a nice change. The timeline is somewhat improbable and military procedural stuff is a little light but I enjoyed it. It definitely not Red Storm Rising but it’s a decent read.
The action was great hard to put down very well written
Good read
This book is an exceptional look into the political future between the United States and Russia. What would the next world war look like? Not far in the futures Russia decides to take back all it lost at the end of the cold war. The United States is in the way. This is a story about the people in war. The characters are outstanding, the setting very realistic, and the action powerful. A must read.
