James Ryker thought he had started a new life away from the chaos and violence. He couldn’t have been more wrong.Carl Logan dedicated nearly twenty years of his life to the Joint Intelligence Agency. Now living in a secret location, under the new identify of James Ryker, he wants nothing more than to be left alone, the chance to start a new life away from chaos, violence, destruction and deceit.… destruction and deceit.
It’s not long, however, before Ryker’s short-lived idyll is destroyed when he is tracked down by Peter Winter, his ex-boss at the JIA. Winter brings with him news of the murder of a woman in Spain, Kim Walker, whose fingerprints match those of one of Ryker’s former adversaries who’s been missing presumed dead for years – an infamous female assassin known as the Red Cobra.
A cyber attack at the JIA led to the Red Cobra’s profile being compromised, and Winter believes JIA agents may now be at risk too, Ryker included. But Ryker knew the elusive Red Cobra better than anyone, and when he sees the grisly pictures of Kim Walker’s corpse, he has news for Winter – she isn’t the assassin at all …
So just who is the mystery dead woman? And where is the real Red Cobra?

FAST
Unpredictable, but predictable. No sympathy for protagonists, he was a putz. Too overbearing and unrealistic.
British references/terminology confused meaning of author’s point.
Over all I liked the book but only gave it four stars because of the bad language and descriptive sex.
Please read the other books They are great to.
Action packed with some unbelievable events, but good just the same.
Lots of action, but wordy, poorly thought out and a total bail-out for an ending.
Don’t waste your time…
A good thriller that kept me involved the whole way. I recommend this book.
Poorly written, hackneyed plot
Super good book. Author has scary imagination.
Loved the characters and the story plot
Enjoyed it. A little wordy but not as bad as some. Nice twist toward the end.
Exciting from to finish. A consistent storyline through the entire book
Great read!
Hard-boiled spy thriller with a heart. I cared about the characters
and the questions were not easy to answer. Complex story-telling
and made me buy more of his books.
gory in places
My husband loved it and recommended it to me. I loved it too.
Enjoyed the book very much….a little confusing with the time changes.
Excellent 1st book of Series with a complex plot, fast-paced action and twists and turns. James Ryker (a/k/a Carl Logan) & “wife” are found in hiding by his JIA boss, Winter, and he goes to Spain to find the Red Cobra, his old ally-lover and assassin extraordinary and the daughter of “long knife” – legendary Georgian assassin, whom someone killed. In Spain, he encounters killers, drug, human & arms traffickers and is bailed out repeatedly out by a phantom, whom he believes to be his supposedly dead ally, the Red Cobra. She is not. The “new” Red Cobra is Ryker’s ally & lover, the older sister of the deceased and the real one all along.
Together they kill those who deserve to die and separate again, this time forever, she to retirement; he to look for his missing wife.
Great book! I loved the twist at the end, really enjoyed!
