To be fair, i’m not a big fan of the “christian romance” genre or the “clean” romance genre but I actually really do like this writer who writes books in that category. (a lot of the books i’ve gotten for free that fit in those categories have bored me)
they’re not awesome/raveable where i’d be endlessly talking about her to everyone. But they do their job. They give me a good story w/warm characters that entertains.
i’m a sucker for the mail-order bride trope.
This is a quick, easy read. Delightful characters. There was a mystery element in who was harassing Dr. Sam & Lucy.
and the sexual chemistry in this story was a little more steamy than usual. (perhaps the writer is expanding her wings as it were) But nothing was offensive or too descriptive for those who prefer the more clean romances.
I look forward to reading more in this series.
Lucy traveled miles to meet and marry her husband to be. From the time she got on the stagecoach-mishaps happened! Her driver had a heart attack and she had to walk in pouring rain miles to the town. With luck 2 men came on horseback and off they went. One of them was her husband to be–the other the sheriff. They were actually looking for her since the stagecoach was never late!
Calamity after calamity kept happening–but Lucy-a stalwart Irish lass was not to be stopped. Sam, her soon to be husband (he was a doctor), were shot at-their barn set on fire and a host of other calamities. The Sheriff was trying to find the culprit—
This definitely is one strong female who knows what she want and is bound and determined to get it–did she listen–rarely!
I think you will love this novel and there is a very happy ending!
Lucy has moved from NY to be the mail-order bride of a small-town doctor in the Montana Territory. Even before she arrives, tragedy strikes when the driver of her stagecoach dies of heart failure. Then obviously someone wants the new couple dead or at least off their land. The story is fraught with dangers which take an emotional toll on the newlyweds.
This is a well written book with a good storyline and wonderful characters. In my opinion the story could have been developed more because it has the makings of an even better one.
Lucy seems to have the worst luck. Her arrival is met with a dead driver, a rain storm, miles of walking then a lost boot. Sam has the great fortune to meet his bride after all that. They get along great. Add in a bully that tries to scare them off their land and it is a great book.
At first, it did not seem that the Luck of the Irish followed Lucy to her new home, where she was to marry the town’s doctor, Dr Sam Slater. As she and Sam face difficult situations and threats, they discover that most things can be solved with a little compromise. Sam has progressive views regarding the role of women in society, but he wasn’t expecting Lucy’s level of independence and feistiness. Realising that she may need to protect herself from those leveling threats against them, Sam reluctantly shows her some basic skills in self-defense, but when he isn’t around to give her lessons, she draws on the help of their hands, thus arousing Sam’s jealousy. As the threats escalate and become more aggressive, Sam has his hands full and even though he recognises his wife’s need to become proficient in handling weapons, his inherent need to keep her safe drives him. The novel is fairly short but well written with a certain amount of suspense. There is also some wit but mostly this romance is about two people finding each other and learning to respect one another. Although I purchased this book some time back, I also received a copy for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
I enjoyed the story but it seemed short. I liked the main characters but I feel like the author just skimmed along the secondary characters and the plot was lacking in detail. I think this would have been an even better book with more detail in it. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
