A Top 50 Amazon Bestseller.“Powerful, gripping, unflinchingly honest and sensuously gorgeous writing.” — Kristan Higgins, New York Times Bestselling AuthorRITA® Award-winning author Kennedy Ryan delivers the gripping conclusion to the All the King’s Men Duet.Ambition. Revenge. Love.Raised to resist. Bred to fight. Survival is in my blood and surrender is never an option.Though surrender is what … resist. Bred to fight. Survival is in my blood and surrender is never an option.
Though surrender is what Maxim Cade demanded of my body and heart, I had other plans. We were fast-burning fascination and combustible chemistry, but the man I trusted with everything was a trickster. A thief who stole my love. If what we had was a lie, why did it feel so real? The man I swore to hate will have it all, and wants me at his side. But power is a game, and we’re the pawns and players.
Facing insurmountable odds, will we win the world, or will we lose it all?

I truly and genuinely do not have the words to fully express how incredible this book, this story, this series really is. From the chemistry, passion and love Lennix and Maxim have for one another. To the real, hard-hitting, heart-wrenching issues that are ever present in our culture and country (and around the world quite frankly). To the emotional turmoil the characters experience throughout this story.
“My point is, this bracelet is significant. It’s symbolic of the fact that I’ve been all over the world, but you are my one place.”
I unequivocally felt everything. Every heart-ache, every tear and sob, every smile, the anxiety and fear, and of course the love. I felt every emotion throughout this story. It made me feel…it made me look at the hard truths, it made me swoon. I felt as though I was a part of this story. Like I was right there by Lennix and Maxim fighting for what’s right, fighting for justice. Like I was right their consoling characters after tragic incidents.
From the very first page to the very last word I was completely and utterly enamored. I was sucked into this incredible world Kennedy Ryan has created. With each character enhancing the story, each word creating this powerful story that readers lose themselves in and escape to. Every single minute detail adding to this extraordinary story.
This is story I will never forget. A story that have no doubt I will go back to time and time again to re-read and get lost in the wonder Kennedy Ryan has created. But also reminding myself and others of the very real implications ever present in our current world. That though this story may be fictional, the issues Kennedy Ryan weaves into this story are very real indeed.
“She said revolution requires a certain degree of hubris. I have hubris to spare. Whether you know it or not, we need a revolution. We need to shake things up. The status quo is insufficient for what lies ahead. Let’s not fear the future. Let’s make it.”
If I could give this book infinite stars I would!
The Rebel King concludes Kennedy Ryan’s ALL THE KING’S MEN duet. A steamy second chance, enemies-to-lovers romance meets SCANDAL, it’s an epic journey spanning 2 decades, 4 continents, featuring a new breed of alpha male and the woman who proves to be his match.
My goodness! Kennedy Ryan put me through the wringer with this gripping, heart-pounding conclusion to the epic All the King’s Men duet. Twisty, suspenseful and emotional, I freakin’ devoured every single word of The Rebel King.
Lennix and Maxim’s journey is one that will stay with me for a long long time. I didn’t think I could love this couple any more than I already did. Yet, their bond, their strength, and their devotion to one another is proof otherwise. Individually, the dedication to their causes and their drive is aspiring. However, the passionate powerhouse of them together …*standing ovation*… it’s perfection. I cannot get enough of these two. I almost hate to leave them. I can only pray we get some more in the future.
In addition to these amazing characters, Kennedy Ryan does an incredible job of blending the beautiful love story with social issues and politics. She does it with heart and well researched information. I absolutely looove a story that educates. I learned so much about a heritage and certain issues that I didn’t know too much about.
With its outstanding writing and intense, meant to be romance, All the King’s Men’s duet is not one you want to skip on. Definitely top reads of 2019.
I loved the journey Kennedy Ryan took us on! Mix and Maxim are an epic love tale! This book picks up right where the last left off. We get to see the ruthless side of Maxim and Grim and see just how Nix works. Mix is such a strong woman and both her and Maxim are faced with some really hard decisions and if you have read any of Kennedy’s other books, then you know the drama is packed!
I gave the book 4.5 stars because it was so good but the ending was lacking. There will be an epilogue emailed so be sure to sign up for it.

How does one get over the hangover after reading prolific Kennedy Books, long enough to attempt to write a review?. The urge to re-enter the her sacred realm is acute, the world she creates and hands over to you is so very real and alive. All her subjects carry a strong message of racial harmony and tolerance. Everybody MUST READ this fantastic Duet. Set against the backdrop of powerful, redemptive love story, this is a socio-political commentary underlining the timeless importance of it, especially so in the current volatile climate of our country.
“She said revolution requires a certain degree of hubris. I have hubris to spare. Whether you know it or not, we need a revolution. We need to shake things up. The status quo is insufficient for what lies ahead. Let’s not fear the future. Let’s make it.”
Kennedy in her infinite wisdom has given us not only a novel but an important lesson in history and humanity. Her kind demeanor reflects in her stories like brilliant sunshine. Her ability to connect with her readers spills her trademark compassion and graciousness as major characteristics in the fictional people she creates.
They are humane, strong, staunch believers and tireless fighters. Holding on to their beliefs and convictions, Maxim and Olivia share a once-in-a-lifetime kind of connection that happens when planets and the moon align together on rare occasions. Their unlikely but inevitable coupling makes up a powerful winning combo that is both envied and celebrated.
“The girl who chases stars landed on the moon, planted her flag, and I’ve been hers ever since.”
Ms. Ryan not only entertains, she reminds us that the core values on which this great nation is built on, are as pertinent for survival now, as they were decades ago. Her story glimmers in hope when all seems lost.
Her hero- Maxim Cade carries the same Zeal and drive to succeed as our nation builders did centuries ago. He’s strong, down to earth, passionate nationalist who wants to better the world and leave his clean footprint on this earth for our future generation. I wish I could gather Kennedy’s words and bring Maxim to life. Lord knows our country needs a superhuman like him right now!!
A man of huge ideas and impossible dreams and enough hubris to bring them to fruition
“This bed is our map, and we make love until it feels like we fall off the edge of the world. It’s just us, the longitude of our bodies aligned and locked and loving. The latitude of our hearts, crossed, pressed together.”
Their path to eternity is littered with political dangers and social potholes, coupled that with family hostility, it makes it a super angsty read and couple of scenes had be bawling like a baby.
In particular, the scene when Maxim goes to Millie’s house, just broke my heart into million pieces.
Earth shattering grief, foundation shaking passion and an overload of sentiments had me engrossed, reading this book NON STOP. For the first time EVER, I didn’t cook food because I was reading. It has been an eye opening, subsuming journey for me reading this Duet. And as usual she’s thorough in her research, her weighty and intelligent prose forces you to broaden the horizons of your mind, make room in your soul for diversity and sensitize your heart.
I was more informed, more aware of Apache culture, their tragedies and bias they face, their struggles to cling to their identities and land everyday.
“Lennix Moon Hunter, Yavapai-Apache Nation,”
“The last warriors to surrender. And I am the girl who chases stars.”
Very few authors manage successfully to have you fall in love with the characters and shake your Psyche at the same time. I always come out enriched and enlightened when I close the last page.
Such informed and profound conviction in writing deserves all the RITAs which are inevitably coming her way
Time to get a bigger shelf Ms. Ryan.
I’m honored and humbled to have read your words
You write and I shall follow
“I signed on for you.
Whatever that means
Wherever it takes us”
From page 1 The Rebel King had me reeling and yearning. Reeling at the crisis Maxim and Lennix were facing, and yearning for them to finally attain their roles of taking over the world (figuratively)—each in their own right—together! The Rebel King is an insightful conclusion to this astonishing, remarkable, superb duet, and it will leave your heart pounding. And when you finish you will want to raise your fist to the sky and shout “F yeah!”
I think you will find a recurring description of Maxim and Lennix if you browse the reviews—these two fictional humans make ME want to do better! I am in love with the fact that neither of them waver one bit on their drive and dedication to their life pursuits of making a positive impact on the world and righting devastating mistakes from the past. Sure they didn’t expect to find the kind of all-consuming love that they have, but it only makes them stronger. I said it before in my The Kingmaker review and I’ll say it again here—Maxim puts all other book boyfriends to shame! His resolute and dedicated love to Lennix will make you smile and swoon for days! And Lennix is wholly outstanding herself with her love and loyalty. She draws incredible strength from her cultural heritage and it’s an awe-inspiring thing to read. These two characters are written astoundingly.
Kennedy Ryan has woven an intense, gripping, inspirational tale with finesse, sensitivity, and acumen. 5 plus plus stars for The Rebel King and ALL THE STARS for this spectacular duet! Must Read! #NixXim FOREVER!
The Rebel King is an absolutely beautiful conclusion to the All The King’s Men duet. The writing is gorgeous, the story is heart stopping and intense.
“I’m feeling the weight of finding your person in a world full of somebodies. In a crowded galaxy, finding your star.”
I NEEDED this story after the extreme cliffy at the end of The Kingmaker. I was immediately pulled right back into Lennix and Maxim’s story.
“And in just this moment, it’s like déjà vu, and we’ve been here before, said these things before. I’m the guy and she’s the girl, her innocence reincarnated, my ideals resurrected, and it doesn’t matter if we’re in a field of tulips, or under a canopy of stars. We believe again.”
At times this story completely shattered my heart, but I’m so glad that I was along for this amazing ride. I whole heartedly recommend this duet! A Must read!
-5 Stars!-
Wow oh wow
Have you ever read a book, any book in any genre that just make you speechless at the end?
When you just lying there in bed looking at the ceiling and question you’re self about what you’ve just read?
When you feel like seeing the world in different set of eyes because of what you’ve just read?
And what if that book is a romance book? Yes, romance books that make lots of people look down and have lots of steamy and dreamy scenes in it.
Reading All The King’s Men duet give me all that and more
In Rebel King, the conclusion of the duet, we’re serve with fast pace and intense scene following the end of book one. I couldn’t put it down until the pace get slower.
In this “relax”time, I fall even deeper for #NixXim. Their growing stronger with their new found relationship. Nix strong character amaze me from the start of this duet. Maxim dominant and won’t back down character pull me in like a moth to a flame. These two together is like fire! They are combustible!
In books, authors can’t help putting their own personal opinion, in this book it’s about politic, shown. The way Ms. Ryan portrayed Maxim and Owen as leader, makes me want to believe in human behind the politic dirty ways. I want to change my citizenship under the King’s Men govermentship. That’s how strong Ms. Ryan put her opinion so elequently in this book.
And her plot Twist! don’t even start with it! I throw my phone away so when I come back, the awfull, devastating, something I didn’t see coming…. Wouldn’t be happening.
Ms. Ryan succes of driving me crazy with wait for this conclusion only for me to cry at the end cause I couldn’t except the fact it is ending of Maxim and Lennix epic story.
Thank GOODNESS I got this book, I was slipping off the literal cliffhanger I was on. What can I say? I loved Maxim. I love how constant he was with his love for Lennix and that never wavered, no matter what. Lennix was his heart and he did everything in his power to prove he would move heaven and earth to keep her safe.
I loved Lennix and her heritage and her dreams of being more. I understood the PTSD and nightmares she had, but honestly, I feel like she would have had more things wrong with her after the ordeal of what she went through. If it were me I would need some serious counseling to deal with what happened to me, but I digress. Lennix is a STRONG leading lady. She is passionate about what she does and she lets nothing stand in her way. When she finds herself in a position to be on the campaign trail with Maxim, she fears that their relationship should be hidden because the company she owns is so against fraternization, but I felt like this demeaned their relationship. They were not just a hook up, they were everything to each other. I appreciate the struggles, but there were times I felt like she wasn’t all in and that made me sad for Maxim. I really hope we get an extra epilogue for this because I still have so many questions.
This couple had so many struggles to get to the point they are at now and I loved to see them overcome so many obstacles for love.
Not my first read by author and yes I was lucky enough to also receive the Book #1 ARC. Not to mention that I was even considered for this one, super excited and honored! I love this author!! Now I don’t want to get too much into Book 1 again because the ones that have read it understand of course and the ones who haven’t I wouldn’t suggest starting with a BOOK #2 in a duet! Just sayin’
Book #2 jumps right into the left over action, so basically I was hanging from that cliff and then still hanging until I got pulled up. INTENSE right off the bat…the love between these two just PULLS YOU RIGHT IN! The hero and heroine have a way of bringing out the best and worse of one another, in the bedroom…I seriously though my kindle was going to burst into flames. HOLY HOTNESS!! I don’t want to give out too much but this combo is fucking fantastic!
I was not ready or prepared at the beginning but then you hit the middle and on and BOOM! Twists and danger! Seriously was on the edge of my seat reading this. Not your conventional ending either, the author made sure to finish it the way it started, AH-MA-ZING!!

⇨ H A P P Y – R E A D I N G ⇦
This 5 star review is for the duet that includes The Kingmaker and The Rebel King….
If you have followed me for any length of time, you know the I DO NOT like duets. I have been burned so many times by them that I actively avoid them. Why then did I read this one? Simple – it’s Kennedy Ryan. Not only has she been a favorite author for a while, she is a thorough researcher and uses her platform to challenge readers social conceptions/biases without “preaching.” Ms Ryan has a unique talent for bringing issues to the forefront while also making every reader feel seen.
This duet has a suspense/intrigue element that is best experienced first hand, so in an effort to not give anything away, I’m going to tell you why I don’t like duets and how this one changes the game.
1) Does it REALLY need 2 books? In this case yes. The Kingmaker has the history of Maxim and Lennix that starts when she is 13. It is the book that answers the question of “can these two be a couple?” The Rebel King’s time line is much shorter, but asks the question of “now that they found each other, can they make it work?”
2) Drawn out or overdone sexy times for filler. Yeah, that doesn’t happen here. There are plenty of intimate moments between Lennix and Maxim, but they all help drive the story and confirm the relationship between the two. Some of their most intimate moments aren’t in the bedroom and have them fully dressed. The emotional connection between the two radiates off the page.
3) Drama for the sake of drama. Yes, there is plenty of drama here, but it’s never feels gratuitous. There were some surprises and some things that I saw coming, but how they were handled help show the depth of relationships and emotional growth on multiple fronts.
If you are looking for a light, quick read then this is not the duet for you. If you are looking for complex, unique characters facing challenges and changing dynamics then dive right in! I will tease you a little bit – I loved the ending of The Rebel King. It was the perfect balance of resolution and “what happens next?” That leaves the door open for the reader’s imagination to spin the story out…. or maybe there is more to the story?
I was really hoping I was going to like book 2 better than I did book 1, but I didn’t. There was just too much politics and I felt like their romance and the story of them got lost to it. It felt more like their relationship was just a part of the story instead of it being the story, if that makes since. Not get me wrong, I enjoyed the writing, this story just wasn’t really for me.
When I started reading this book my heart was still filled with despair and panic from The Kingmaker, I was looking for solace in the pages but what I found was another wild ride through the pages I turned, one that I never truly could see a way out that didn’t devastate my soul!
Kennedy Ryan worked over my heart with every chapter that left me hanging on tightly to the fragments she had caused with such a heart wrenching tale of a subject no one wants to highlight!
I felt outrage and disgust flowing through the words and actions of some of the characters I felt grief like I would my own but I also felt happiness and joy, pleasure and outright respect for a nation to finally find the balls to take a stance on outdated principles that should have been removed from society centuries before!
“Love is such a dynamic force, isn’t it? It is the most inexplicable and yet the most beautiful force in life. O, how joyous it is to be in it.”—Love Letter from Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. to Coretta Scott (July, 1952)
The relationship between Lennix and Maxium was unconventional, unobtainable and all consuming they gave the whole selves to each other unapologetically even on the hard days, even when they disagreed the always found a way to be as one without letting the little things rule there hearts which made me fall deeper into there little bubble.
A truly remarkable book that will no doubt storm there charts and knock all the rest out of the way.
I’m so glad I got my hands on this story it really has left a huge impression on my soul!
The start of The Rebel King is fast-paced and hard-hitting. The action had me on the edge of my seat, anticipating an interesting read. The author has done a great job weaving a political education into this fictional story. The story has a good ebb and flow. The dramatic start moved into a slower, more serious middle, then I was smashed with a twist I didn’t see coming.
Maxim and Lennix are strong characters; opposites in so many ways, yet a perfect pair. They are well written and more developed than the average romantic couple. Lennix’s Native American heritage and Maxim’s passion for the environment gives an extra depth to both the characters and the story.
I enjoyed this second instalment of the All The King’s Men duet. I especially liked how the author didn’t stick with a particular romance formula or script.
Let the binge begin!
Alpha Male + Alpha Female
Passion spanning 4 continents & nearly 20 years
2 fighter-dreamers determined to change the world!
Enemies-to-Lovers + Second Chance Romance
Words can’t express how much I love Lennix and Maxim together #NixXim. This book literally had my heart aching when I first snuck off during my lunch break to start reading. Book two picks up right where it left off in book one and I never stopped being on the edge of my seat.
I love Lennix’s strength and resolve in who she is an Indigenous woman unwilling to compromise. Maxim is back and sexier than ever. The mixture of intellect and raw sex appeal is the golden ticket. Every chapter is gilded with tension and deliverance— heartbreak and hope.
I love the handling of politics and romance. It’s a perfect mixture of all our favorite tropes: enemies to lovers, second chance and forbidden love. There’s nothing sexier than a man who can grow, lead and love with awareness while never sacrificing the aspects we LOVE in a sexy alpha. And there’s nothing sexier than a woman who holds her own in the face of a love that would consume another yet who is simultaneously undone by that love’s existence.
Nix and Maxim’s love story continues in The Rebel King right where The Kingmaker left off, and just explodes from there. I normally like to do sorta detailed reviews, but in the interest of not giving away spoilers, I’ll just talk about the characters and their love for each other.
Lennix is an astounding woman. She’s fierce and passionate and so freakin’ strong. I love how much she stood up for what and whom she believed in. I love how she refused to go quietly. And I love how she clung to her dreams and chased stars. She’s the perfect match for Maxim.
Speaking of Maxim…damn, that is one swoony af man! At turns growly possessive and vulnerable, he never backed down when he wanted something or someone. It makes perfect sense that Nix is his soul mate because she never backed down either.
I’ll just leave this off by saying the All the King’s Men Duet is an epic love story full of passion and fire and suspense. I can’t think of the last story I read that riveted me so much, and I’m quite sure that I’ll never forget Lennix and Maxim and their journey from young lovers to adults with the entire future ahead of them.
“We weren’t unlikely, Nix” I say, no levity in the words ” We were inevitable”
What an epic conclusion the this duet!!!!! 5 Stars is not ENOUGH!!! All hail the queen Kennedy Ryan for the amazing writing. The best book of 2019, hands down. This book was inspiring, informative and life changing. After reading this book, I felt so inspired to do better and be better, thank you Kennedy Ryan.
I knew from the ending of book one, Max was going to be trouble for those who kidnapped Lennix, what I wasn’t prepared for direction the story went. My heart broke into pieces with the plot twist, I was screaming at Kennedy Ryan, how could she do this to me but she made it all better.
The love between Maxim and Lennix is book couple goals. These two connect on a deeper level. Yes they have an insane amount of sexual chemistry but they have that soul binding bond that nothing or no one can separate.
” please don’t ever think you get to stop loving me or i get to stop loving you, That shit won’t happen” has to be my favorite line from Maxim
Maxim is now my number 1 book boyfriend. He was in beast mode this entire book. Don’t mess with his family, because he’s determined and whatever he sets his mind to, its not if but when it gets done!!!!
Lennix she makes me proud to be a woman. Like seriously, there is nothing this woman can’t do. She was brave in book one but fierce in this book. The amount of passion she brings to her character, is next level.
I love how both Maxim and Lennix stayed true to their values. Neither one gave up on this, that made their characters fan favorites. I wish we get another book of these two.
Rated 4.5 Stars
The Rebel King was phenomenal. There’s action, suspense, sexy times, politics and twists. It’s also an emotional rollercoaster. It played my emotions with expert precision. I loved it. Lennix and Maxim’s story is epic, one not to be missed. I very highly recommend it.

I was totally absorbed in this book and was waiting until I could get my hands on it after reading The King Maker. I couldn’t wait to see where Kennedy was going to take us from the ending of that book, to practically hyperventilate to see how they were going to make it with all the obstacles in their way.
There’s so much love between Maxim and Lennix but will it be enough when all of the pieces are on the table? Will they become stronger together or will they have to do it apart to be able to follow their dreams? Is there going to be a breaking point for these two? My mind was just all over the place while reading this trying to guess where it was going to go next.
The love that they two felt though bled through every single page and I fell in love with them more and more. I laughed and I cried with them and I sooo would have gave them hugs if they were in front of me! Loved this duet and how the author will transport me into her books!
