A Top 50 Amazon Bestseller.“Powerful, gripping, unflinchingly honest and sensuously gorgeous writing.” — Kristan Higgins, New York Times Bestselling AuthorRITA® Award-winning author Kennedy Ryan delivers the gripping conclusion to the All the King’s Men Duet.Ambition. Revenge. Love.Raised to resist. Bred to fight. Survival is in my blood and surrender is never an option.Though surrender is what … resist. Bred to fight. Survival is in my blood and surrender is never an option.
Though surrender is what Maxim Cade demanded of my body and heart, I had other plans. We were fast-burning fascination and combustible chemistry, but the man I trusted with everything was a trickster. A thief who stole my love. If what we had was a lie, why did it feel so real? The man I swore to hate will have it all, and wants me at his side. But power is a game, and we’re the pawns and players.
Facing insurmountable odds, will we win the world, or will we lose it all?

Like Kingmaker, Rebel King gave me all the feels. Literally every emotion. I laughed, cried, yelled at the book. I was scared and feeling the heat. Yes! Exquisitely written, paced, and executed to make sure I fell in love with Maxim and Nix all over again. Can’t wait for Queen Move.
Wonderful conclusion to the All the King’s Men duet.
Maxim and Lennix go through some truly heart-wrenching stuff in this one. Unfortunately, I didn’t think it was quite as solid as the first. This might be my preference, as I’m not a fan of “in your face” socio-political views. However, the remainder of the story was strong enough to carry me through. Still gave it the full 5, because their arc as characters and a couple was immensely satisfying.
I should be used to Kennedy Ryan putting me through the wringer, but I wasn’t prepared for the All the King’s Men Duet. I inhaled The Kingmaker and waited with grabby hands for The Rebel King. Then life got in the way and it took me some time to get around to reading it. Holy crap. What a ride.
There’s not much I can say about this book that won’t ruin it for you if you’ve not yet read, so I’m going to keep it simple. If you’re into politics with your romance and want a beautifully-written duet that will keep you guessing, this is the duet for you. Clear your schedule and prepare to binge.

“I would kill a thousand times for you. I’d die a thousand times for you if I could.”
“The past is behind us. The future is ours. Figure out how you can change the world right now, and don’t fear it. Do it.”
“We weren’t unlikely, Nix. We were inevitable.”
I read each of the books in this duet, The Kingmaker and The Rebel King, when they were first released but it’s taken me the last 3 months to really process everything. I have to admit that I even grieved (just a little bit) the end of Maxim and Lennix’s story. I’ve read a lot of books over my 45+ years and the authors that truly stood out to me were the ones whose writings went beyond just the emotional connection between the two main characters and Kennedy Ryan’s writing not only does that but more. Within her stories, she builds a whole world, spanning decades, with wonderfully complex primary and secondary characters that take us on an action-packed journey of love, loss and humor on the way to their happily ever after and along the way even educates us about social and cultural issues…hence my 3-month post story hangover. If you’ve never read a Kennedy Ryan story, then this is the perfect introduction to her amazing work. WARNING: Once you’ve read a Kennedy Ryan book, you won’t be able to stop at just one. You’ve been warned. I for one am anxiously awaiting the next standalone book in the series, Queen Move.
This duet is fantastic! The characters have so much depth, drive, and compassion.
The Rebel King took a turn I had not anticipated and following the cliffhanger of The Kings Man, that says a lot. I was not prepared for the feelings this event elicited, but as the story progressed, it made sense. I’m not happy that it occurred (that’s to you Kennedy Ryan! ), but it added to the intensity of the story.
This was Maxim’s book and if I wasn’t already head over heels for him, I was a goner for him in The Rebel King. He’s fierce and loyal, romantic and passionate, strong yet vulnerable. But mostly, he’s a man wholly in love with a woman he fell for when she was just seventeen and full of spirit. She’s his match. The obstacles thrown at them just draw them closer. It’s hard to see them struggle but beautiful as they come together. Their love on their faces and in their eyes a completely undeniable force.
The quote that stuck with me and is all Maxim and Lennix is, “We weren’t unlikely. We were inevitable.”
Kennedy Ryan delivered another fierce heroine and gave her a partner who truly complimented her, who accepted the fire within and together, they sought the stars.
Wow! What an AMAZING Story! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
I have enjoyed this duet with Lennox & Maxium. Their story is full of twists and turns, heartache, passion and so much love.
I enjoyed the relationship between brothers and the dynamic of the father and son.
I felt so much emotion while listening to the perfect narration. I felt desire, loss and the complete honesty of the characters.
The Rebel King is the second book in the All the King’s Men Duet so before you begin first read The Kingmaker. The ending of the last book we were left with a whopper of a cliffhanger and this book starts where that one left off. I enjoyed this book more than the last because we see more of Maxim and Lennix relationship come together even though they continue to struggle with their careers and keeping those separated. This book has everything family drama, tragedy, danger, friendship, passion, heartbreak, forgiveness, undeniable chemistry and love. The writing was once again outstanding as we come to expect from Kennedy Ryan.

You once told me it’s the dreamers who change the world the most- that something about the present wasn’t good enough, so they made the future
I am happy to say that the second book in the All the King’s Men Duet does not disappoint. In fact, I think I enjoyed it more than The Kingmaker. Rebel King is filled with action, heartache, and aching tenderness.
Maxim and Lennix’s romance progresses in ways that feel honest and mature. They don’t play silly games with their emotions. These two strong-willed people butt heads sometimes while navigating several obstacles. However, when they argue they talk it out, listen to each other, and then have great make-up sex. Holy smokes! These two are hot, hot, HOT!
Maxim officially took my heart hostage and I don’t want it back. My massive girl crush on Lennix continued. I didn’t get nearly enough of these two or of their story. Even though an epilogue is included, it feels like there should be a huge “To Be Continued” note tacked to the ending.
Kimba, Lennix’s firecracker best friend and co-owner of their campaign management company, is getting her own book. I’m so excited! Queen Move is a standalone second chance romance that I have already added to my TBR list.
This is going to be a review of few words. Epic Love Story!!!!
If you haven’t started this duet yet, I suggest you do, it is phenomenal and Jo Raylan & Jason Clarke did an Outstanding job narrating.
Kudos Kennedy I started this book this morning and didn’t stop till the very end and I guarantee I will revisit this story again it’s definitely a favorite.
This is an Audible review
NO SPOILERS!
The Rebel King was quite the conclusion to Maxim and Lennix’s story and the All the King’s Men Duet, and I certainly won’t forget it anytime soon!
Kennedy Ryan, in her typical fashion, took me on a roller coaster ride of thoughts, feelings, and emotions that still have my mind reeling. A lot, I mean A LOT, transpired in The Rebel King, and I’ll be honest, it’s a lot to process and think about. Kennedy took me on a journey like no other with the All the King’s Men Duet, and she definitely threw a ton of plot twists my way in The Rebel King that I wasn’t expecting AT ALL, but she still made me fall even more in love with Maxim, Lennix, and their absolutely unforgettable, amazing, and memorable story. Maxim and Lennix have been my all-time favorite Kennedy Ryan couple so far, and I was extremely happy with the ending to their MUST READ love story!
Everything Kennedy Ryan writes is PURE GOLD, and the All the King’s Men Duet was no exception! Kennedy always gives the reader an immersive experience they’ll never forget, and she definitely blew my mind with Maxim and Lennix’s story. The All the King’s Men Duet was unlike anything I’ve read before, and it was certainly another MUST READ from the undeniably talented, Kennedy Ryan. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next!
ღ The second installment & unfortunately the conclusion
I couldn’t wait to start this after finishing The Kingmaker & What a journey these two embarked upon!
What an epic conclusion! You sit back with your fluorite bottle of wine & get ready for one hell of ride !
Alpha Male + Alpha Female
Passion spanning 4 continents & nearly 20 years
2 fighter-dreamers determined to change the world!
Enemies-to-Lovers + Second Chance Romance…..
I would say this just sums it right up
*Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion+ Also I wouldn’t never discourage anyone from reading this book.
Books in All The King’s Men duet should be read in order:
Book 1: The Kingmaker
Book 2: The Rebel King
Happy Reading & Enjoy ——–Paulette Alphas Review
The Rebel King by Kennedy Ryan is a fast paced, emotional, and thought provoking conclusion to her All The King’s Men duet. Maxim and Lennix’s chemistry is undeniable and intense. I reveled in their passion for each other and to make the world a better place.
I voluntarily received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Aaahh! Talk about a conclusion! A must read for ALL!
I loved this duet! This may be the best one I’ve read all year to be honest. This is truth right here. I felt this book from page one. I cried from pride for this girl Lennix. How can you NOT feel throughout this entire book! It was written so well! This Duet is definitely going on my bookshelf.
Five Stars is not even close to being enough for this book!!!!
Where do I even start to write this review????
This is the second book in the series, and you HAVE TO READ BOOK 1 , THE KINGMAKER first!! This book starts off right where the first book leaves us, and it just keeps getting better!!!
Kennedy Ryan captivates you with her ability to make you FEEL like you’re the one witnessing this story in real life!! Not only does she put you under a spell with her words, but she also gives you real hard facts about what she’s writing. You will not only fall head over heels in love with Lennix and Maxim, but you will fall in love with their character and strength! These two suffer so much throughout their lives that would crush most people, but not these two,, no, they only seem to get stronger, and braver! Their love story spans decades, and it’s not an easy one, but for your true soulmate,,,, ANYTHING is possible!!
This is definitely a MUST READ!!!!
The King Maker, the first book in this series, was one of my favorites in 2019. Unfortunately, this book was a disappointment. It was a major departure from the first book.
Book one ends in a cliffhanger with Lennix being kidnapped while she is on a mission trip. This is where the series goes from a very deep dive into Native American culture and environmental issues to a romantic thriller. It seemed like a complete about face to me.
And, the plotline seemed to totally jump the shark. Nobody knows where Lennix is but then they are magically able to remotely turn on a tracking device that Maxim put in a bracelet he gave her. Then Maxim, with no military training, travels to the jungle to save Lennix. Maxim goes from CEO to military-grade special ops in a few pages. He brings Lennix back to the states but then danger follows them. It was completely unclear as to why the bad guys were fixating on Lennix and Maxim. The remainder of the book involves them running from the bad guys.
This started out as such a great story. I just wish the second book would have focused more on the environmental and cultural issues that were the focus of the first book. I don’t understand the need to turn the book into a explosive, shoot-em-up, thriller.
5 +++ Stars

If you have not read this series, you are missing out! Kennedy Ryan did not earn the RITA award for anything. The second book in the All The King’s Men Duet, The Rebel King is just as amazing as the first book. It’s so beautifully written, you cannot help yourself and you feel all the feels in this story. And let me tell you, you just don’t know what you’re missing until you read it. This cannot be read as a standalone as you will not receive the same impact. So please read book one first.
Words everyone should live by:
Raised to resist. Bred to fight. Survival is in my blood and surrender is never an option.
This statement in the book synopsis is a point to how this story will go.
The power behind this story is so strong. The chemistry is out of this world and I just don’t want to tell you the story because I don’t do spoilers. SO, I will use single descriptive words in no particular order.

This series is a must for everyone.
My second Kennedy Ryan novel finished in the same day. I would never have slept without knowing the end of Maxim and Lennix story.
Like Kingmaker, Ms. Ryan kept me on my toes throughout Rebel King. There are parts that are hard, emotional, and heartbreaking, but so many more that uplift.
If you like books that empower women, combine all the good things about politics, history and Romance than you’ll love the All The Kings Men duet.
The Rebel King is the conclusion to the All The Kings Men Duet, and boy did it keep me on my toes.
The Rebel King is an emotional story that touches on several issues that are prevalent in today’s society. I’m not from the United States, so I was fascinated by the portrayal of the democratic process.
Dedicated, driven, strong, resilient and determined are just a few thoughts that come to mind when i think of these complex and captivating characters.
Not only is the banter witty and intelligent, but this story is intense with passion, suspense, grief, and love. Kennedy Ryan has an uncanny ability to tap in to your emotions and this title took me through a gamut of emotions smiling one minute, and crying the next.
I was intrigued, moved and captivated a sign of a true five star read.
