The Rebel King, the second book in the All The King’s Men duet, was so much more than you could have possibly expected. Kennedy Ryan gave us a conclusion to rival all conclusions. The novel begins right where the first book ended and will have your heart racing as the story progresses. The twists and turns you won’t see coming, the suspense, the characters growth and development, their passion, chemistry, determination and love for each other all serve to make this novel one you won’t be able to put down.
Expect to be taken on an emotional roller-coaster ride as you will experience intense feeling of all kinds throughout the novel. However expect to also learn a thing or two as Kennedy always deals with specific issues relevant to our current times and relates them in a way that’s bound to open your eyes and make you think and that’s exactly what she did with this novel.
I don’t have enough words to adequately describe how exceptional this story was. The entire duet was well-crafted and detailed but it all comes together so perfectly in this book. Lennix and Maxim “unlikely but inevitable” will definitely have a place on my list of top, unforgettable couples. Worthy of more than 5 stars The Rebel King is a must read and I would highly recommend it to everyone.
“We weren’t unlikely, Nix,” I say, no levity in the words. “We were inevitable.” What Kennedy Ryan gives readers in The Rebel King is so incredible. This book is so well written. It has suspense, intrigue, many unexpected twists and I could not put the book down.
I was a lucky reader to have had dinner with Kennedy Ryan as she was writing this duet. I loved hearing her passion and research she does when she writes. From presidential elections to native Indian tribes to locations where her characters go, Kennedy sends readers into a world that you feel you are part of.
I love Maxim and Lennix. I love their strength, the passion between them, how they challenge and love each other and themselves! This duet of The Kingmaker and The Rebel King is my top 2019 read! Kennedy Ryan delivers books that make us feel and make us want to be better to those in our life.
The Epilogue of this book is probably the best I’ve ever read!
I was completely consumed and captivated by the wonderful conclusion to this epic duet. Ms Ryan is without a doubt an amazingly talented author. It’s fortunate that my review is a written one, as right now she’s left me speechless.
The storyline is intense, thrilling and suspenseful, the words poetic, with beautiful descriptive language that helps you experience events as if with your own eyes. Ms Ryan holds nothing back and I don’t think there was an emotion I didn’t experience during the course of this book. It took several turns I really wasn’t expecting, ones which both shocked and surprised me, left me open mouthed and quite frankly feeling like I’d been put through the wringer.
Oh how I love Maxim and Lennix. Their relationship is complex, hot and intense and, whilst their intimate moments are passionate, the connection between them does not just exist in the bedroom. There is a spiritual layer to their relationship that cannot be explained by mere chemistry and their bond continues to grow and mature in a way which makes them stronger and fills them with determination. I respected them so much, both as a couple and individuals. Neither of them were envious of, or threatened by, the others success. Maxim’s pride in Lennix, how he evolved and learned to listen to her in a way he didn’t when they were younger was inspiring. The way Lennix has the courage of her convictions means she is someone to look up to in my eyes. She is not without fear, but she is brave, even in the face of great danger.
“Lennix Moon Hunter, Yavapai-Apache Nation,” she says, her voice fierce, her eyes lit for battle. “The last warriors to surrender. And I am the girl who chases stars” “… every line of her body a declaration of war”
I was so proud of her. I particularly loved the way she refused to let anyone define her, drawing strength from her traditions and her mother’s teachings at times when she’s feeling overwhelmed by life’s events. The way she spoke of her mother was wonderful and incredibly touching.
“They buried us, but they didn’t know we were seeds” … “Mama lives on. I am her harvest”
Personally, this author’s books are not merely stories, not simply an escape from reality. Without lecturing or preaching to the reader, they are inspiring and thought provoking, in a way which for me educates as well as entertains. The Rebel King is a stunning conclusion to this superb duet, one I did not want to end.
