This is one of the best, most refreshing books I’ve read in a long time. I put down Brandon Sanderson to pick up this book and although he’s good, I much prefer Ali Winters. She’s now one of my favorite authors (and that’s hard to do with how much I read! Almost nothing gets added to that list anymore).
The Reapers is a refreshing new story with a brilliant take on not only death, but the balance of the universe. Throughout this enthralling story, Nivian makes many shocking discoveries, each more unprecedented than the one before, giving the reader a gripping, sometimes shocking story with each turn of the page. I struggled to put this down and get back to the chores. All I wanted to do was find out what happened, and the WHY of everything, which Ali slowly tells us in her masterful way.
Very satisfying read. I loved it. On to book two!!!
Ali Winters just took my mind on an adventure I will never forget. The Reapers was an amazing journey of the life of a grim reaper. The loneliness, the heartache, and the friendship. This book was so unique and imaginative that I wanted to read as much as possible all the time. Although it took me a while to get through, that was my fault. I was busy, but still this book and the characters stayed in my mind.
I loved Nivian. She had such heart, such compassion, and I especially loved her naivety as she explored the life of a human.
I also really like Caspian, and although we found some things out that he did wrong in the past, he always did what he did out of love.
Kain was another interesting character as well, and while I didn’t want to like him since Caspian had already weasled his way into my heart, I found I really did.
All in all, I absolutely adored this book. It might take me a while to dive into the next one, but as soon as I can, I am. Do yourself a favor and get this book today
Wow what a amazing series. This book had me from the beginning to the very end.. I will be working on the next book as this is a hard book to put down..
Rife with unexpected plot twists and a delicious love triangle, this book was everything I look for in the paranormal romance genre.
Listened on audio. Great narration!
The Reapers was a fantastic fantasy novel that had me hooked right from the start. It was fast paced and action packed and unlike anything I’ve ever read as this was the first novel I’ve read with Reapers.
The author did an excellent job with world building as she gave us a world that was easy to imagine. With well developed fascinating characters you will love, a plot that was imaginative and engrossing and quite a few twists and turns that will have you at the edge of your seat, this novel was an excellent start to The Hunted series and I would highly recommend it to all fantasy lovers.
The audiobook version was narrated by Sarah Colton who did a fantastic job with the characters, giving each one their own voice and personality. She brought the story to life and it was a pleasure listening to her narrate this novel.

This is a series you have to get. Book 1 will get you hooked and wanting more! Delve into the world of Reapers and Hunters you will enjoy it.

This is the first book in The Hunted series. It is a standalone story with no cliffhanger ending. It does set up what will likely be the next story in the series.
Here, Nivian is a reaper and very good at her job. She has no qualms cutting the life thread of a human and sending them to the afterlife. Humans cannot see her, except when she wants them to, yet one day – a human – Kain – looks right at her and she is sure that he can see her. She reports this even and told that the human likely looked in her direction or past her and she only believed he saw her. Nivian starts to follow Kane – and believes more and more that he can see her. Then she is given her next assignment and just three days to complete it – her assignment is Kane. Yet, she is reluctant to complete it without knowing who Kain is and how he can see her. Once she learns Kain’s true identity, will she be able to complete her assignment?
This is a unique twist on reaper stories with great world building. It grabs you from the beginning and builds on that intrigue as you learn about Nivian and Kain and how they fit into the world. I really enjoyed Nivian’s humorous adventures amongst the humans – eating fries, doing laundry. This a complex plot and just when you think you’ve got it figured out and who to trust – curveball and you’re back to questioning [just like Nivian] what is true and who to trust.
I listened to this book – thd narrator was excellent. She was able to distinguish between the various characters, kept a good pace and certainly enhanced my enjoyment of this book.
This was my first Ali Winters’s book, and won’t be the last. This is the first book in The Hunted Series, a YA Fantasy Paranormal Romance. I loved it! The World building with Reapers and Hunters is fantastic. The quest to the balance of life and death is captivating. The storyline is complex, intriguing, intense, and romantic. The main characters, Nivian, Kane, and Caspian are wonderful. Silas, Eva and the other characters are really interesting. I love to have multiple POV’s. Sarah L. Colton did an amazing job with the narration. I love her soft voice, and her smooth pace. Now, I can’t wait for the next book in the Series. #AudiobookObsession
Niavian is a fairly young reaper considering how long reapers can live for. Her character seems slightly naive and sheltered at first. Then through a series of events Niavian gains more knowledge and grows considerably. With the growth of her character I found my opinion of her changed and I ended up liking Niavian more.
Kain’s character is strong, caring and kind of funny. He’s very amiable.
I liked how the relationship between the two develops, changing from mortal enemies to allies.
They make a great team.
Their’s is a tale of mystery and hidden secrets. Where friendships are questioned and figuring out who to trust is crucial.
It’s original and quite different from other reaper books I’ve read. I especially thought the connection between reapers and their pocket watches was interesting.
One of the things that kept me from giving this a higher rating was that the beginning moved kind of slow for me and it took awhile for me to get into it. Otherwise, I thought it was a pretty good story and look forward to starting the next book.
Audiobook review: The Reapers is an interesting tale involving Reapers and their life long adversaries the Hunters. In a tale as old as time, two parties meet and are attracted to each other in a twisted game of fate and during the height of tension. Secrets are revealed but some questions remain unanswered that hopefully will be resolved in subsequent books. The characters are likable if not a bit naive, and a few are self centered. The narrator did a good job! I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
The Reapers by Ali Winters is the first book in the Hunted Series. I listened to this book on audio narrated by Sarah Colton. Sarah did a great job narrating and I can’t wait to hear future projects by her. This is the first book of Ali’s that I have read and look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
The storyline really pulled me. I enjoyed the multiple points of view through out the book so I was able to get into all the characters head. The romance portion of the story was very subtle which is perfect for the YA Genre. Heads up the storyline does end on a cliffhanger. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys YA, Paranormal, or Fantasy books.

The Reapers was a wonderful start to this young adult series. Full of action from the start. The characters are interesting, and were well defined in the narration by Sarah L. Colton.
Ali Winters, I cant wait to hear more in The Hunted series.

What a unique story. The detail put into this world with this book is a fantastic read. The line between good and bad is so thin you really don’t know what side you are on between the reapers and the hunters. The two main characters have so many twists that they have to deal with and try to understand but as soon as they think they get it, another bomb is thrown there way. This story does have a bit of a cliffhanger in my opinion and can’t wait for the next in this series.
The Reapers (The Hunted Series, Book 1) is a ya paranormal/fantasy novel that is told in third person multi-pov with each chapter lists character who’s thoughts are being voiced. The odyssey of the life of a grim reaper is told in a pie-in-the-sky kind of way. With a creative backdrop that is intriguing. As the story evolves it gets better & keeps you ontoes. Character’s are well seasoned with detailed backgrounds & elements that tie them all together. I loved Nivian & Kain Evers character’s & interactions. Darkness vs light, who’s side to join, all unanswered questions in this unparagoned fantasy. A spoonful dose of romance infused with mystery, unveiling of secrets & a unimaginable twist. A fun & entertaining listen.
Narator Sarah L Colton enhanced the experience with a smooth pace and tone. Her performance brought pleasure to listening to this audiobook.
Looking forward to listening to the next audiobook in this series.
