Hunted, shot, and without her memory, eighteen-year-old Ann Baker wakes in shallow water on a deserted Pacific Northwest island. She is soon approached by two young men claiming to be her friends. Something isn’t right, but when gunshots sound, Ann is left with little choice but to allow Devon and Archer to help her escape. Soon she finds herself in their North Bend mountain compound, where the … the higher evolved humans claim to be mind-readers. While Ann heals, she realizes they believe her to be one of the last and most powerful of all – The Lost One.
She’s welcomed by most with opened arms, but not everyone is happy about her arrival. A jealous adversary has plans for Ann, which spirals the entire Reader community into chaos.
As lies, murder, and betrayal threaten to rip apart the once harmonious mountain dwellers, Ann is thrust into making a decision that could save or devastate not only The Readers, but all of mankind. But there’s just one glitch: by doing so it may require her to make the ultimate sacrifice.

The YA paranormal romance is dynamic and riveting. Harkins does a fantastic job creating this universe and developing relatable characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the pace of the writing and the detail throughout. It is a very well thought out book and plot and is one I will definitely recommend to others.
Loved this book! I hope that there is a second letting us know for sure who that was at the end. Such a neat concept and I really liked it, I wish that it had been longer, more Devon and Ann scenes, and some Archer and Ann scenes too!
This sounded really interesting and as I started to read it I was pulled in. However, it quickly became predictable. Just like the 2 main guy characters Devon the broody one and Archer the sweet and nice one. I could see from a mile away which one would turn bad. It wasn’t a surprise for me at all. I liked Ann and Lucy very well. I liked all the characters actually and thats rare. This was definitely different and I wish it had more depth. This really could have been a novel if the author added a little more to it. I dont know if there are plans for more or a series. I dont like how the last chapter was written. The last chapter revealed everything pretty much all at once kinda. I mean we already pretty well knew but still it was weird how it just was thrown all out there at the last when I am used to gradual revealing. Since it was so predictable it didnt bother me too much just enough to say something. I dont read many YA because they really can come off as juvenile. I didnt feel it was. I kept forgetting she was 18. There were times she felt older but she really wasnt. So thats a good thing. Overall its an ok book.
I love Ann’s story. I love the premise of the 3 types of paranormal people and would love to see more books to learn more about the backstory of them and Ann’s gifts. Henry, Devon and Archer have more to be told, too.
Great book! Different paranormal about immortals.
