This is a sweet and heart warming story with great character development. This is Mason and Jenny’s story. It is a fun read with enough action to keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
A nice, quick read. Mason’s family has sort of forced him to pick a bride, so he advertised for a bride. He corresponded with several, but picked Jenny. He hopes they will get along. The town also needs a new teacher and she can fill that job as well. Jenny is so glad to see the end of her trip to meet her future husband. She is pleasantly surprised by her husband, but wants to know him better. It doesn’t take long for them to realize they want to get married right away. As Jenny tries to protect a couple of her students from an abusive father, it does cause some contention between her and her new husband. The father has had a grudge against Mason’s family for years and Mason knows what kind of person he is. He just doesn’t want Jenny to get hurt. Can they come to an understanding?
Mason gets pressured into picking out a mail order bride. He is approving of Jenny when she arrives. She is not only there to be his wife but the towns new schoolteacher too. Jenny is new to the area but soon fits in very well. Add in some domestic abuse that the Crawford’s want yo help solve and you have a great story.
When I read a book by Amelia Rose I expect strong gentlemanly men and strong capable women, I was not disappointed with this book. Mason might not have wanted to get married but his aunt and uncle were correct in that he needed to. Jenny might not have been raised on a ranch but she was determined to learn what she needed to know to be a helpmate to Mason. This book has romance, humor and social justice. I love that there is usually problem or injustice to be solved in most of Ms Rose’s books. This was a very enjoyable book to read.
In this story about Jenny and Carson we read about an almost perfect love between two people who first learn about each other through their letters and when they meet, though there is a bit of uncertainty about their relationship, they find they like each other very much and work on that.i
This ‘liking’ soon turns into full-blown love and though there are differences of opinion, they are able to sort that out.
What I enjoyed most about these characters was that they built a solid trust and a devoted caring for each other and also that they were both keen to help others too.
The story is written from the heart and is a quick and easy read that made me wish for it to continue but it also left me content in the knowledge that ‘they made it work’! And that’s a big sigh from me as well as a recommendation for you to read this book too!
