Former class nerd, Lucy Carr, comes home with a tantalizing offer for hometown hottie Aiden Harper: she’s developed a natural pesticide that will kill off the spider mites eating his crops, and she’ll give it to him for free…if he agrees to father a child for her. Time is running out to go the traditional route for finding a man, and Lucy wants her baby to be smart AND good in gym class. Aiden …
Aiden has put everything he has into his fields of hops, and the award-winning beer he brews with them. But one more year of mites eating half his crops and his family’s farm and legacy—as well as his dreams for his brewery—are going to go under. When Lucy shows up looking hot, and being hailed for her scientific achievements, Aiden is more than a little jealous. He remembers how fun science class was the year they’d been lab partners and how much more enticing Lucy had been than the cheerleaders on the football field. He’d never had the guts to admit his crush in high school—after all, jocks and nerds didn’t mix. Now Lucy has everything, and he’s on the verge of losing it all.
But what starts as a trade of necessity to achieve their goals turns into a tangled jumble of emotions when they realize they might have found more than bugs and babies: they may have found the person who completes their lives.

Two very good Authors co-Authored this well written book, once I started reading I was not putting this book down. This is a second chance story of Lucy Carr who has developed a natural pesticide that will kill off spider mites which she offers for free to Aiden Harper if they can have a child together. This story drew me in and held my attention throughout. This is a book I will read again. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lucy longs for a baby of her own but isn’t involved with anyone right now. Aiden was the high school jock that was heading towards a big career in football when an injury nipped it in the bud. Now he is working the family ranch and fighting spider mites that are eating his crop before he can even produce enough to sale. Lucy has developed a natural pesticide to help Aiden with his problem she just needs something from him. For him to father her baby. Will Aiden do it? what will they do once real feeling become involved?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Loved this book! At first I thought it was going to be a variation on the classic ugly duckling story. Lucy is the nerdy high school oddball who went off to Stanford to get her PHD and reinvented herself in the process. Aiden was one of high school elite, trying for a football career that ended with a knee injury, bringing him back to Montana to take over the family farm. Aiden’s crops are infested with a pesticide resistant insect that Lucy has a remedy for. She is a professional success but is feeling her biological clock running out for her greatest desire, a baby. Lucy offers Aiden a deal: she will make sure he gets a lifetime supply of her pesticide, if he will help her become pregnant. She planned on a doctor’s office, he wanted to go the old fashioned way. There is an easy familiarity between Lucy and Aiden that adds to the gentle tone of the story. Lucy regains part of herself that she lost trying to succeed in graduate school while Aiden learns what is most important to him.
Mary Sue Jackson is a new author for me and I am going to find more of her books. She has a deft touch in developing her characters and the communities they live in. I received this ARC from Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.
I liked this book a lot. It was a nice combination of cute, sweet and heat. Lucy and Aiden are likable and I liked that they had history. Both characters had baggage which added depth to them. The story held my interest with drama and emotional turmoil as these two struggle with what they think they want and the unexpected surprise of more. Very good.
The dynamic of the story is awesome, the nerdy girl who made herself more and the jock who she always crushed on. The story really flows and the highs and lows pulls you in. I got lost with the characters. A really good read.

Will this nerd get what she wants? She has the technical aspect down but when it comes down to romance, not so much. She wants a baby and Aiden wants his crops to succeed. When Lucy comes up with a solution, will Aiden get on board or will it be a disaster waiting to happen? This story will touch your heart and have you cheering this couple on as their story unfolds on the pages.

Opposites Not Only Attract, They Bloom!
THE RANCHER’S BABY BARGAIN, by authors Mary Sue Jackson and Leslie North was a modern love story that took place in Montana.
Our two protagonists new each other from high school. He, Aiden was a popular football player while Lucy was the science nerd and his biology lab partner. Years later she has come home with a PhD under belt and he is the owner of the family ranch which he now grows hops that are infected and has created a brewery. She has the cure and is willing to trade it for his sperm.
An unusual and somewhat questionable ethical proposal to say the least. But it doesn’t seem to sway his preferred package delivery. And soon hers too.
The authors do a good job bringing them together as a couple and shows the strengths and stubbornness of each.
Definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and I am leaving this review for your consideration. Peace.
The choices we have to make. She was sure about that he was going to say yes to her deal. Someone else but not him. She may have planned it that way but it wouldnt have worked because they liked each other. Good deal for him bad planning for her. I liked how he switched it around to get what he wanted out of the deal. It worked.

Lucy has come to her hometown for two reasons, prepare her parents house for sale and to make a proposition to Aiden. She has always been a science geek, went to Stanford for her doctorate and has created an environmentally friendly pesticide that will kill the mites from Aidan’s crop of hops. She will gift it to him in exchange for being a donor for the baby she wants. You could have knocked him over. He needs the hops for sale to sustain the ranch and for his own brewery. So, he agrees to help her but only to have her conceive the old fashioned way. They were lab partners in high school where she always had a crush on him. He ends up spending a lot of time with her when morning sickness hits her with a vengeance. She is on sabbatical from a position in Portland to attends to her issues in Montana. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Do I stay or do I go? Nicely written lightweight story that is a very enjoyable and entertaining.
