A scarred hero, whether physical or emotional, will draw me to a story. We now get the story of Rachel, the lost Morgan, and Cauy Lymond and what a story it is. There is so much emotion featured in this story. Controlling is an issue for both of these characters and stubbornness to boot. Can either let go and try not to control situations all of the time? Read this fabulous story and find out.
My second favorite story behind Yvonne and Rio’s. Even though we have now seen stories for all of the Morgans, could there be more stories…maybe Jackson? Oh, I see there is one. YAY! And Dave, yeah he deserves a spitfire also.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
I have loved this series and was looking forward to Rachel Morgan’s story. She was the daughter taken away when her mother left the Morgan Ranch , her husband and her four small children. Never to be heard from again.
Rachel has now been reunited with her family and is adjusting to her new place in it, when she meets Cauy Lymond. He is the son of the Morgan’s long time enemy. Much to his surprise, he has inherited the dilapidated ranch from a father that never showed him any love. After an accident that still causes him pain, he’s determined move to the ranch and restore it.
Though their first meeting was less than ideal, the Morgan family and Cauy started forging a friendship as does a relationship with Rachel.
Will Rachel allow herself to be loved and will Cauy feel worthy of love?
A story with an engaging plot that at times was heartbreaking but also heartwarming. Not only were the main characters complex individuals but it was also great to visit with the characters from the previous stories.
Another winner in this series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgall
Rachel and Cauy are two individuals who were brought up to feel unloved and unwanted. They both dealt with this in different ways. Rachel became a people pleaser. While Cauy left his family home, because his father treated him so bad.
These two broken soul meet up and at first old prejudices born from other people kept them at arms length. However, they find themselves being thrown together time and time again and unbeknownst to them an attractions is building.
I loved the dance these two had. I loved that Rachel was a little more aggressive in her seduction. I loved hat she was owning what she wanted and in this case it was Cauy.
I will say there were times I didn’t know if I should hug Cauy or throat punch him. He liked to run hot and cold to Rachel. I completely understood why he felt the way he did but after discussing it with Rachel and she telling him it didn’t matter, he still tried to push her away.
I highly recommend this book.
Perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Cauy was left the ranch when his dad passed away but it was run down so he has a lot of work to do to get it back in shape. Struggles both Cauy and Rachel go through to find who they are and family and friends help to show they are loved.
Great romance. Kate Pearce’s story reminds me of a Linda Lael Miller novel.
This is my first time reading this author and I’m so happy that I decided to order this book. It’s a very nice plot and wonderfully written so it’s very easy to read and lose track of the time. I loved the characters and their dialogue. It’s a down to earth story that’s a real joy to read.
Awesome read
Loved this book very entertaining. Great series. Fan of this author.
Strong characters who work through their issues and come together.
I particularly liked the strong female character. Fun read with a bit of suspense.
This book moved slower than the other books in the Morgan Ranch series. I feel kind of dumb because I didn’t know how to pronounce the H’s name, Cuay. I don’t have a clue.
Cuay and Rachel trying to have a relationship was like pulling teeth. That relationship did not really flow for me. I also did not pick up on any chemistry between Cuay and Rachel. I am not sure if it was because they blew hot and cold through most of the book, or they just did not have that spark. I am still on the fence about how I felt about Rachel.
I liked Cuay and his brother Jackson. There were a lot of hits and pieces to pull together for this story. It feels like a number of things were left unfinished. The book seemed to end abruptly. I was expecting more, and was a little disappointed they say things were wrapped up.
There were a number of funny moments. All of them occurring from the Morgan brothers, or Cuay’s brother Jackson. You still got part of the same feel as you did from the other Morgan Ranch books, just not as much. This book would be 3.5 stars for me.
I was between ratings on this one. The writing alone was 4 stars, but I didn’t like Rachel 99% of the time, and the ending was a little too abrupt for me. Cauy was a good guy, and I felt like he was upfront about who he was right from the start. He knew he had problems with certain things, but he didn’t try to hide that fact. Rachel acted like she was upfront too, but she wasn’t. She had random bursts of anger, and then covered everything up with a smile. She was very immature and acted a lot younger than her 23 years. I understand she had a screwed up childhood, but she didn’t try to change her behaviors at all. That didn’t keep her from acting like Cauy was the one with problems. She ran away from him every time something didn’t go her way, she even stomped her foot at him like a child. When she reads something that she shouldn’t have (totally not her business), she automatically assumes the worst of Cauy. It’s bad when your whole family is coming to his defense, but Rachel still believes the worst. It doesn’t take much to change her mind when Cauy talks to her. The ending was very abrupt though. You know that the couple is together, but everything else is just left hanging. I would have really liked an epilogue to finish this one out.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
This was a romance set in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas in northern California and is part of the Morgan family series. Rachel Morgan had recently found out she had a family of four brothers and father that she had never known anything about. She had come home to spend time getting to know her newly discovered family, including her grandmother, Ruth. She had just graduated with an engineering degree and was taking a break to figure out what her next steps would be.
Cauy Lymond had received the family ranch in his father’s will. Actually, he didn’t really know where he belonged. He had been injured in an oil field explosion and after a long recovery was beginning to feel almost normal again. His father had always hated the Morgans who owned the ranch that bordered their property. But, his father had also hated him and treated him with contempt, too.
Rachel and Cauy’s first meeting at the abandoned silver mine bordered both properties wasn’t the most friendly. But, as they spent a little more time together, they found that they were both a little lost and had wanted to be loved all their lives but had struggled to please those who should have loved them the most. Was it possible to heal and learn to love and be loved? Would the sparks between them grow into something wonderful or burn them alive?
I enjoyed the story but I am not a fan of the descriptive sex scenes. I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my review.
The family drama at the Morgan Ranch has intrigued me over this series. The characters are interesting with their strengths and weaknesses, their appealing and irritating habits of nature make them like most of us, thus easy to relate to.
The family has faced so many problems over the years, or should I say decades, yet one of the happier events was when they found their little sister, Rachel, again. No, it hasn’t been all dancing on the roses to adjust being part of a family Rachel Ford Morgan had no idea existed, but with time and lots of TLC, she is slowly but surely finding her place with the rambunctious crowd that is her biological family. Some of the struggles of that adjustment are shown in this story, and the mix of pain and jubilee Rachel experience aided her way to my heart.
Cauy Lymond has faced troubles and heartache in his life from the young age. The difficult relationship with his father drove him from home at the early age of sixteen. He has made a good life for himself, but paid the price dearly, with an accident that scarred him for life, and a divorce that left him skeptical towards love and romance, happiness in general. He is on the quiet side, an introvert, who avoids big crowds and rather lets other people take care of the conversation surrounding him.
The connection between Cauy and Rachel is immediate, the attraction somewhat sweet in nature, and their physical chemistry sizzles. They seem so perfect together, like two opposite making one harmonious whole, if they could just communicate better with each other, and trust the raging emotions in their hearts and minds.
I enjoyed the story. It is entertaining as it pulled me into the country life; to the troubles and concerns of the rancher’s life, to the drama of the families, the neighbors, and unruly guests of the dude ranch. As much as the book is a love story between Rachel and Cauy, it is also a part of the Morgan family saga, that has continued over the series. The whole family is gathered together for the holiday season, and the readers get to witness the progress of their lives and loves.
An enjoyable, inspiring, and touching story of families that sticks together and has each other’s backs in all the hurdles of life, and in the midst of it all, two broken souls, people who deserve to be loved and cared for maybe more than most, find the home of their hearts within the safe harbor of each other’s souls.
~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
This was my first adventure away from Kate Pearce’s historicals, and it was an enjoyable one. Well developed characters, intriguing plot line, overall a very well written novel.
Cauy Lymond is trying to escape memories and ends up on his family’s old ranch. Deserted and in need of a lot of TLC, just like he is. Rachel Morgan is trying to find her place in a family she didn’t realize existed until recently. When she meets the mysterious rancher next door she just can’t keep away. Together they have an explosive relationship.
Well worth a one-click and a rainy afternoon!
Isn’t going from heartbreak to HEA, with all kinds of messy things, like drama, emotional scars, falling in love and making it work, exactly what a reader is looking for in a good romance book? Rachel and Cauy’s journey to their own is a real page turner. Rachel not only shows her own strength of who she is, but finally comes to terms with her brothers and the past that has always lingered as they truly become a family again. Next door neighbor Cauy comes back home to build the ranch his father left to decay. Fighting his own demons as well as the Morgans isn’t as easy as he thought it would be as he falls for Rachel. The drama and suspense as they fall in love, is such a perfect ending with Cauy and Rachel Morgan’s story. I have enjoyed reading all of the Morgan stories, and as each book is a standalone read, it is a series I would recommend. I would like to thank NetGalley and Zebra/Kensington Books for gifting me “The Rancher”. My opinion is my own. This is mine. 5 Stars!
Another great book from Morgan ranch. This one is a love story between new found sister from Morgans Rachel and new owner of neighbor ranch Cauy. Lovely book with two well-developed characters. I loved both of them they were so opposite Rachel open, optimistic and talkative and Cauy her dark opposite. But in the end, they developed toward each other deeper feelings. The story has a great plot, it is fun, has a few unexpected twists and is just enjoyable to read.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
The Rancher is Book 6 of the Morgan Ranch series. I would have to say this story stands fine on its own but between the backstory which involves Rachel pretty heavily and that all of the characters from the earlier books appear here, I highly recommend reading the others.
Ever since Rachel was “found” in the earlier books, I was so looking forward to her story and Ms. Pearce certainly did not disappoint. Cauy was the perfect match for her. Very enjoyable story.
Based on the hints in this story, it appears a Book 7 will be coming involving Jackson. I can’t wait!
I have loved this series from the first book and always feel like I am coming home with each book in the Morgan Ranch series. Rachel and Cauy’s story is filled with so many emotions.
I laughed and cried. I felt the anger and hurt, the betrayal and heartbreak, the tragedies and the triumphs. I felt the uplifting power of overcoming adversity and the beauty of true, unconditional love. I loved how they weren’t exactly hearts and flowers at first, a little like enemies to lovers. But there was no denying their draw to each other.
Kate gives us another masterly crafted addition to a brilliant, well-developed series that you do not want to miss.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for an advanced copy. These are my honest and unbiased opinions.
Loved the story. Rachel and Cauy meet and slowly an attachment is formed between them, but along the way there are miscommunications and hurt feelings that almost destroy their budding relationship. Rachel is the youngest of the Morgan children and only now comes to find a family she never knew existed which is hard to accept at times. Cauy inherits his father’s ranch, much to his surprise because his father treated him badly growing up and at age sixteen he left home and made his own way. Rachel talks constantly and wears her emotions for all to see and Cauy is the exact opposite. He is soft spoken and a man of few words which at times is nit to his advantage. There is a happy ending but they both struggled to get there. The book is well written and at times highly emotional. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and would highly recommend it as a great read. I hate to think this is the last book in this series.
