A man’s past doesn’t have to map his fate, especially when a woman holds the key to his destiny in this timeless novel by New York Times bestselling author and legend in historical romance Mary Jo Putney…
Disinherited and disgraced, Reginal
I first read this book years ago when it was first published under a slightly longer title. I love all of Mary Jo Putney’s books, but this one is one I come back to again and again. It features an exceptionally flawed hero, and even though I know how it ends, I root for him every time.
One of the best books I’ve read this year! I loved these characters and the plot of this book. I’ve known people with this illness and its not easy to overcome. I felt for both the leads down through my soul. Putney’s writing grabs and holds you throughout the story. Can’t wait to read more from her.

Mary Jo developed her characters seamlessly and with historical detail. I have read it twice.
