The Racketeer is a little different tale than the usual John Grisham novel, that said like all Grisham works, I had a hard time putting it down. A Federal judge is murdered and the FBI has no idea who did it. Former lawyer Malcolm Bannister, wrongly prosecuted, is serving time on a RICO charge in a federal prison in Maryland. He’s able to put …
Almost all of the books I’ve read from John Grisham I’ve loved. This one is one of my favorites! The book is a must read! You will be taken from the first page and will go through all the twists and turns and wonder…WHAT… how did he do that, at the very end.
Talk about “page turners.” I couldn’t put this one down … literally … I could not put it down. Read it in one long session. No work got done that day.
It kept me interested the whole way. Following his plan to get away with the money and set up the real killer.
Another terrific story from a master storyteller. This one keeps you guessing until the end. Highly recommend it!
Not my favorite John Grisham
Anything by John Grisham is good! I have never read a bad book that he has written so you cannot go wrong reading his work!
I really like all John Grisham books
Great plot although portions were forced.
My favorite author!
Mr. Grisham is very good at telling the story. The pace is good, there’s a balance, always a nice flow. He’s not a Scott Turow, whom I like but but find Grisham a more enjoyable read, an easy read.
This book had so many twists and turns it made you just keep turning pages. The end was a complete surprise. Must read.
I love the hero Malcolm Banister. Can’t put it down! Suspenseful, fascinating to read about all the in/outs of prison life and the politics. I know there’s a big surprise waiting around every corner.
Grisham is always great.
An entertaining and suspenseful read by John Grisham w/ an interesting twist… the lead character is black. As an African-American who’s read countless John Grisham novels, I thought it was long overdue.
this book is a very good book to read .
Any book I’ve read from Grisham well worth the time. He’s likely my favorite of the prolific writers such as James P.
Most certainly not one of Grisham’s finer efforts. It seems he is banking on his previous best sellers to make money on The Racketeer. Could he possibly have paid someone to help pen this one? The realism and style appears to be far from his usual well-researched and plausible novels. All that being said, it was still entertaining. I could see the …
Did not expect the ending. Good story line.
