As a female firefighter in a small town, Suzanne O’Connell knows that every day will go one of two ways: Either nothing happens, or she suddenly finds herself in over her head. Firefighters never, ever say the words “It’s a quiet day!”—because that’s when all hell breaks loose, and their peaceful, easy day suddenly turns into their worst nightmare. This is exactly what happens to Suzanne when she … she finds herself trapped with Harold Waters, local law enforcement officer and her old flame, and fellow fireman Toby Chandler, who, according to everyone, is the kind of guy you want watching your back.
In an unusual turn of events, the stakes turn deadly, and Suzanne discovers that trusting the wrong man could leave her life hanging in the balance.

Suzanne Oconnell is a strong , fierce, firefighter. Toby, whom she trained and was promoted over her. When a dangerous fire popped up, she was trapped inside with Toby, and Harold Water, her former boyfriend. It was intense, and couldn’t believe the mistakes that Toby was making. she was reprimanded for her speaking out. This is a story of who to trust, forgiveness, and a second chance of love.
Jason Markiewitz narration was very good I enjoyed listening to this story

This is the fourth book in The O’Connells Series. I love this series! Suzanne’s story is fast-paced, and filled with suspense and twists and turns. Harold and Toby are both interesting and intriguing characters. Jason Markiewitz is a new narrator to me. I like his voice. He did a good job with the narration. I believe it is better to listen to it in order. This is an amazing and captivating series.
The Quiet Day
The O’Connells, Book 4
By: Lorhainne Eckhart
Narrated by: Jason Markiewitz
Something has to be said for a strong heroine. Suzanne has been seeing Toby, though their relationship at most times seems one sided. After training him, Toby is promoted above her. Fire breaks out and the two are trapped in the blaze with Deputy Harold Waters. Inept and unable to deal with the situation, it’s clear how he had gotten his position. Now, someone has to take responsibility for the disaster, and it looks like there is a fall guy. Will Toby come clean? Will Suzanne take the wrap? And what happens when Toby finds out about Suzanne and Harold’s previous relationship? This short is packed with suspense, romance, trust issues, corruption and family. It’s another fun listen by Lorhainne Eckhart and is fantastic.
Jason Markiewitz is a new narrator to me. I enjoyed his performance with multiple voices easily distinguishable and his easy pace. I like how he built the relationships and suspense. It’s a good listen and one you want to add to your O’Connell collection.

Another well written, enjoyable story by this talented author with believable and likeable characters.
I love the O’Connell series. Each family member has quite an interesting story.
This is a great story that is well worth reading. I highly recommend it!
I received an author’s copy and have left an honest review
Suzanne O’Connell is a firefighter and loves her job. She is kind of seeing Toby, a fellow firefighter and her boss. Suzanne trained Toby but he got the promotion because of his family connections. One day she runs into a man who was her high-school sweetheart. She broke up with him because her best friend told her that he had slept with her. That was the end of that. Now he has come back to town to work with her brother as a deputy. They get caught up in a fire and are trapped in a room with Toby who has not acted in accordance with regulations at the scene of a fire, putting their lives in danger. An unfair promotion. A demotion. Danger. Trapped. Smoke. FIre. Her fellow firefighters going against her because they want to keep their jobs. What a wonderful book of second chances. Loved it.
Another good read about the O’Connell clan. This is Suzanne’s story. She’s a female firefighter who loves her job. There is a fire at a box store that goes wrong and politics come into play. Will Suzanne be hung out to dry or will truth prevail over politics? Can’t wait to read more about the players in this one. The Quiet Day is not over yet!
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This book had everything I enjoy in a good story. There was conflict, action, mystery, romance, villains and heroes. This is book 4 in the O’Connell Series, and it is the story of Suzanne the youngest sibling. She is a firefighter and it is her dream job. She excels in it and even trains others. One of her last trainees, Toby, is a man who she is currently attempting a relationship with. She is in awe of his good looks and fails to realize his lack of morals and overabundance of conceit and self promotion. When she is bypassed for a promotion and nepotism causes it to go to Toby, she still doesn’t grasp what type of person Toby truly is. As Suzanne’s family tries to expose the real Toby, her ex-boyfriend, Harold enters the picture. Mix in small town politics, lies and corrupt politicians and you have a very exciting read. All the characters are really well written. You find yourself rooting for the heroes and hating the villians. I could not turn the pages fast enough. My only criticism is that I wish the ending was longer with more details and extended further into the future. I received an ARC in return for an honest review.
This quick read takes us back to the small town where the O’Connells reside. A family in which the siblings all have dedicated their lives to serve.
This time it’s Suzanne’s story. She loves being a firefighter but when her “boyfriend”, a firefighter that was less experienced that her is promoted and later makes a rookie mistake, Suzanne is the one that pays the consequences. Sadly, something that happens to women too often, even in this day and age.
Add to that the return of her HS sweetheart, the one who broke her heart, and you know that you have a story that will keep you engage from the start.
Another well written story by this talented author.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Suzanne’s life is being a firefighter. She has put her heart and soul into her job. When trapped in a fire she learns the one she thought she could count on has feet of clay and, ultimately, it may cost her much more than she ever thought until she finds support in the last place she ever would have expected.
The tale is an all too common example of what a woman faces in what’s still considered a male dominated world. It’s a tough lesson, but Suzanne’s inner strength and the support of her loved ones will see her through. This is a romance filled with emotions and drama, well-drawn characters, and a strong, fast paced storyline that will keep you captivated from start to finish. A perfect addition to this engaging and highly entertaining series.
Interesting things happen when politics and personal power trips become the truth, especially when a scapegoat is needed. Suzanne is a strong woman is getting thrown under the bus because her supposed boyfriend, Toby and boss gets promoted with minimal practical experience. Then he seriously mishandles a fire. It doesn’t hurt that his grandfather is a retired chief and buddies with the mayor. A past boyfriend, Harold is back in town and has her back and wants her to fight back. Ergo, we have the good-ole-boy network pulling the puppet strings on a Fire Officer who got his position through nepotism when he wasn’t qualified for the job. Well written and pleased to see a wronged woman fight back which could be to her detriment. She is strong in her job performance, but seems to self-esteem issues and backs down when risk and confrontation is needed. Great read!
