There will be a battle, and you will need to protect your heart.Kjell of Jeru had always known who he was. He’d never envied his brother or wanted to be king. He was the bastard son of the late King Zoltev and a servant girl, and the ignominy of his birth had never bothered him. But there is more to a man than his parentage. More to a man than his blade, his size, or his skills, and all that … his skills, and all that Kjell once knew has shifted and changed. He is no longer simply Kjell of Jeru, a warrior defending the crown. Now he is a healer, one of the Gifted, and a man completely at odds with his power.
Called upon to rid the country of the last vestiges of the Volgar, Kjell stumbles upon a woman who has troubling glimpses of the future and no memory of the past. Armed with his unwanted gift and haunted by regret, Kjell becomes a reluctant savior, beset by old enemies and new expectations. With the woman by his side, Kjell embarks upon a journey where the greatest test may be finding the man she believes him to be.

I only had one book left that I hadn’t read by Amy Harmon.
Don’t ask me why I waited so long. I don’t understand myself.
This book was so beautiful and so good that I don’t know what to do with myself now.
Historical fiction and paranormal books are usually not so often on my TBR list, but Amy changed that. I love this genres and that’s thanks to her unique writing style.
This book has so many layers and so many heartbreaking feelings, that I’ll never be able to describe it property or give it the praise that it deserves.
In the unforgiving fable world of changers and people gifted with all the different powers, a beautiful and incredible gripping love story blossomed.
Sasha’s and Kjell’s story is so never-ending sad and emotional that I spent the last 2 days after I finished it constantly thinking about it.
What a book!
We have already met Kjell in the first book.
He was just like in this book, the tough, moody and bad-tempered knight.
The illegitimate king’s brother.
The one who doesn’t feel at home anywhere.
The one who feels worthless but actually has the greatest gift of all. Yes, I have a crush on Kjell
And then comes Sasha, a slave from Quondoon, and Kjell’s life takes a completely different and surprising turn.
She is his biggest fight, but this time not against enemies, but against feelings and desires that were never in his mind. He wants to belong. He wants what he can’t have.
Ok. I’m all over the place and write more than I should.
Please read this book. I’m sure you’ll love it and enjoy it like I did.
This book is the second book in a series, but can be read as stand alone. I really recommend to read the first book too, it’s as this one unique and beautiful.
Oh Amy, you’ve a gift too and yours is writing amazing, extraordinary, exceptional and beautiful books
I loved this second book in this series even more than the first. It has everything I love in a book and it is written so beautifully. The fantasy elements don’t take over or overshadow the characters or situations. The romance is sweet and complicated and I felt every ounce of longing and heartbreak with these characters. I want more in this incredible world!
4 Stars. A fitting sequel for those of us who needed a little more time before saying goodbye to Amy Harmon’s magical world.
Amy is becoming one of my favorite authors. She can write a powerful story no matter the genre. This is her second fantasy it is important to read The Bird and the Sword first or you will be lost and not get the full meaning and depth behind some of these characters. Amy’s books have powerful moving characters that pull you in and break your heart and make you love them. The story is so unique and beautiful and I loved every minute of this book. Like most of her books the love story is a powerful part and there is a very sensual feel to her books. This one had some nudity that was none sexual and sexual and a sex scene that is not detailed in the normal way a sex scene is detailed, it’s always about what is going on inside them, then out. There is some violence, not as much as in the Bird and the Sword. It would be pg 13, but I think these are adult reads.
Reread_ Sep 2019- It was time:} These will be books I reread for years to come. They way they are written is just my bread, cake and donuts:} Love these 2 books. My favorites of Harmons.
I wasn’t expecting to love this series as much as I did. I am not normally into fantasy but loved these books! Lots of twists and turns and it left me guessing constantly. Great reads to get out of my comfort zone.
I loved this book and read it in two sittings; I could not put it down. It’s not a book for everyone, but if you love fantasy written in beautiful, simple prose and based on old-world myths, this book will be perfect. It’s super clean, suitable for younger readers. I found myself transported and eager to read the other books in this series. Years ago, I fell in love with Ursula K. Le Guin’s A Wizard of Earthsea, and although this book is not about the same dark theme, the writing style is similar. I highly recommend it.
Not as good as the first book. Ending was really lame.
This book is going to stick with me for a long long time. I read Book 1, The Bird and the Sword and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was surprised by Amy’s writing style, her poetic words and the well created world these books are set in. But nothing and I mean NOTHING, could have prepared me for what was in store in The Queen and the Cure.
Kjell’s story is in one world: fulfilling. I’m not left wanting anything and that’s so rare for me in the book world these days. I am bereft today after completing the book around 2:30am, only because I didn’t want it to end. And I still feel as if I’m floating around in the clouds and tip tops of the trees in a dream land where this book took place. My head and heart need a moment to realize my journey with Kjell is over.
Kjell of Juru FOREVER.
“I fell in love with you in pieces. Layer by layer, day by day, inch by inch.”
I don’t really know where to start with this review. I kind of forgot how The Bird and the Sword made me feel while I was reading it. This book brought back all the feelings. The Queen and the Cure was a very magical and emotional roller coaster. It was so beautiful and unique, I was hooked from start til finish. I am blown away with Amy’s creative mind and amazing story-telling. Nothing was rushed and the author really took her time to tell the story in the best way possible. There is nothing I would change about this book, it was perfection. It was like I was under a spell.
If you read The Bird and the Sword then you’ve met the main character of this book Kjell as well. He was a very important character in that book and I was happy he got his own book. I was intrigued and fascinated with him and I couldn’t wait to learn more about him. There were many secrets uncovered in this book. The main female character Sasha was perfect and a mystery. Kjell healed her when he found her lying in a lifeless heap. I loved how Kjell and Sasha met, and the loyalty she showed him was just incredible. The chemistry between them was there from the start but the author really took her time with their relationship. The growth both of them went through as individuals and as a couple was very beautiful to read. There was so much going on but it all fit perfectly together. Every little thing that was revealed played an important role to the overall story. I didn’t want their story to end. It was romantic, emotional, and very sad at times. It was mythical and action-packed as well. It was the perfect Fantasy Romance book. I seriously don’t want this series to end! AMY, I NEED MORE!!
