5 Stars
I absolutely LOVED this book! Even if it did have the mother of all cliffhangers at the end LOL! It really is hard for me to believe this is Jacob’s debut novel. Yes, you heard that right…debut…novel! This story is very well written, the characters are fantastic, and there’s just the right amount of suspense, angst and definitely a whole lotta sexiness!
Quake follows the love story of retired cop turned PI, Kyle and Janny, the sister-in-law of the client who hired him. Although theirs is an unconventional love story at best, it is theirs and they own it every bit of it. I was completely drawn into this story from page one and as it continued to unfold, I was on the edge of my seat to know what happened next. And that cliffhanger…KILLING ME! I NEED to know what happens!
Overall, this book is fantastic and if you’re looking for a new author to follow, then look no further! I expect to continue to read great things from Jacob Chance.

Quake Duet is worth the read, I have and read Quake and Quiver and I still love Kyle and Janny, it was great to re visit their story, was so happy that an extra epilogue was added to this duet, it made the story so much more special and sweeter.
I loved this duet read by Jacob Chance. He successfully manages a perfect fusion of intrigue, suspense, drama and emotion. With a steady pace throughout both books; the appropriate amount of time is given to effectively inform and unfold.
Whilst effortlessly enhancing the experience of the reader, Jacob Chance provides a story that is completely heart-stopping and will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, with a thrilling edge. Each and every depth and detail is superbly added, plus Chance’s brilliant use of mystery and secrets sets the tone and adds essence.
This was such an extraordinary story, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The bonus extended epilogue was fab and I just adored it. I cannot recommend this highly enough!
Quake – Kyle’s parents died when he was 23 and he brought his fifteen year old sister Kenna up. He was in the police force but got shot while on duty, as a result he was going to be stuck behind a desk. His best mate Derek and him go into a private investigator business together. When he’s watching the surveillance camera he sees her and is thrown into a head spin. Janie Moore lost her parents and high school boyfriend in a fire at her family home. She’s never let anyone close to her heart again. A night out at Quake finds Jannie in Kyles arms when they both literally crash into one another. Over time romance blooms between them. Then everything turns to dust when she finds out that he knew about her before they started going out.
Quiver – Kyle has to undergo surgery and rehab he pushes Jannie away thinking it’s what’s best for her. Heartbroken Janie takes a job in New York. Everyday she plods along trying to forget a Kyle. Meanwhile Kyle is remembering her and realises he has made a huge mistake. He heads to New York to tell her how he feels and asks for forgiveness. However Jannie was so distraught from his throwing her away that she can’t let him back in. Unknown to her she has a stalker, who is letting himself in, going through her underwear and watching her on cameras.
This was my first duet by this author and I must say it was a sexy, suspenseful, rollercoaster of a ride. Can’t wait to read more from this author.
I read the Quake/Quiver duet with extended epilogue.
I couldn’t put it down. I started it & couldn’t stop until I was done & it was very early in the morning. I enjoyed it very much until the end. It would have been 5 but the end made me take away points.
In Quake we get to know Kyle & Janny. Kyle is a PI on a case for Janny’s sister in law when he sees Janny on a surveillance camera & desires her. Thankfully they meet by coincidence & get to know one another. Their relationship makes my heart swell & their passion makes my temperature rise but their secrets & obstacles could tear them apart.
In Quiver, Kyle’s biggest secret finally catches up with them & threatens to tear them apart for good. My heart fell, I teared up and clutched my chest the pain was so real. There’s also another antagonist introduced that builds the suspense.
It does end with an HEA for Kyle & Janny and I love extended epilogue’s because I like it when the story is buttoned up & you get see a ‘where are they now’. BUT the new antagonist plot just dropped off & left me saying What The? I still plan to read more of Jacobs works because I really like his stuff & maybe one of those will button it up for me but until I get there I’ll keep saying What The? For this one.
I love this Duet by Jacob Chance…
I love a goodt chance (see what Ai did there) meeting romance so I loved the fact that eventhough Kyle has seen Janny before (oh he had seen her alright) their meeting was completely by accident. I also love a book told in Dual Persoectives.
I love how the story of these two unfolded, there was some epic off the charts sex scenes, I loved the ago gap between the 2 (it worked) Twice throughout Book 1 was my heart in my throat one of which ended on Book 1 Quake, I was riveted.
Quiver was the perfect ending to Quake, you will experience a roller coaster of emotions throughout this book. I felt for Janny and thought she had gone through enough however I very quickly learned there was so much left in store for both Kyle and Janny. There was a Thriller edge to this book that kept me intrigued until the very end. My only complaint was that I didn’t pick it which absolutely means you nailed it Jacob.
Cannot recommend this Boxed Set enough, it’s such a fantastic read, and the bonus content is fabulous.
The Quake Duet by Jacob Chance contains both Quake and Quiver in a box set, so if you haven’t read them then now is the perfect time to get them. Both Quake and Quiver is about Kyle McKenzie and Janny Moore’s relationship. It has their ups and downs, their love and their secrets. I seriously couldn’t put this duet down, got through both of them in a day.
The extended epilogue was added to this boxed set to give you a little more about the characters endings. And you also get a preview of his next release Canvas!
Loved it
Jacob wrote an amazing suspenseful book with heartache and love that keeps you on the edge of your seat. You will not want to put this down till you’re finished with it.
