Loved it! I loved the witty dialog between Harriett and Chris. I loved how she always wanted to beat him at something. Her frustration with him was palpable. I thought it was funny how he just didn’t get it. He didn’t understand what more she could want, they “were a good team” after all.
I adored the ending.
This can be read as a stand-alone book.
An enchanting story to make one smile. Two dim wits with different ideas on love and not a clue as to each other. Not particularly romantic until the end some funny, whimsical scenes. Good atmosphere of the period. Love the characters. An entertaining storyl
A lot to lose.
When Lieutenant Christopher Jamison shows up at Tanglewood Manor, Lady Harriett Cavendish calls him out on his behavior. When he doesn’t apologize as a gentleman, Harriett declares war. As he continues to win, whether in cards, shuttlecock, archery or their by play of words, Harriett decides to change the game. When it comes to matters of the heart there is a good chance he will lose. A charming love story that warms the heart.
With every book, there’s always going to be those who love it and those who don’t. I happen to love it. I thought that by the end of the book, I fully understood the characters and their personalities.
Harriett Cavendish is house sitting for her good friends while they are on their honeymoon and will soon meet her family for the London season. This will be her second season and she’s desperately hoping to find a man who sees her as more than a beautiful woman.
Lieutenant Christopher Jamison has recently returned from war and has arrived at Tanglewood to visit with his childhood friend, only to learn that he is gone on his honeymoon. In the meantime, he encounters Harriett who completely intrigues him. Unfortunately, she reacts to everything he tries. Will he be able to learn how to attract a woman? Will she accept his repeated apologies?
One thing I liked about this story is the clear development and growth of the characters. Christopher had to learn that not everything in life is a joke and Harriett had to learn that some things can be laughed at. Each had to realize that they possessed strengths and weaknesses individual to themselves and to not compare themselves to others.
This is a sweet romance with a believable timeline. The inclusion of characters from the previous books was a nice touch and I liked how they were able to help guide their friends.
Romance – PG, kissing
Language – clean
My rating – 5 stars
That’s Harriett with two t’s!
Whether this is historically accurate or not this was a very enjoyable read. The banter between the two main characters made me chuckle, smile and even laugh out loud at times. I appreciated the smooth flow of the story. It is very well written. I love when a story goes from banter to love, although this one I empathized with Harriett. She felt so humiliated most of the time. I thought the lieutenant went a little overboard at times, but isn’t that what makes a good enjoyable story? The conflict? We do, however, get to see the two perspectives. It seems they both have a bit of a self confidence issue. I loved that Chris was finally able to eat some humble pie to show Harriett his sincerity. And at last they were able to reach their HEA. That’s what makes this a wonderful romance.
A lovely romance, how do you really know if he loves you?
Some people find love through serious, slow building romantic gestures. While others find it while being witty, sarcastic and entertaining. While others need a balance between the two. Read and see if Harriett can find her love in one extreme or the other. Definitely worth the time to find out.
He really was rude to begin with because he like to bug her. He was kind to others so they did not see what she did. They both needed to grow up. She was definitely a snob.
I skipped a lot of chapters just to get to the end. I feel like I read this type of book before….
Very repetitive. Nothing new. Moves slowly.
This book was entertaining and funny. I really enjoyed the characters.
A great rainy day book. You don’t want to put the characters on hold. You know how the story will end but it was fun being a part of their jouney
This was a very proper, fun regency romance. It started a little slow but then took off and I did not want to put it down. This is well written, this author knows how to write people well. This could be a real romance. I am pretty sure she wrote my husbands personality into the leading man. How many men are just like this. I loved how it all came together. I especially loved how honest and real Harriett got, in the beginning I wasn’t sure I liked her much. This was very character driven. Not much action or adventure just a well written romance.
Story full of wit, sparing, words full of spit and vinegar. Totally entertaining.
Sweet
A great romp!
Great book. Hard to put down!
This is the third and final book of this series. It was a good read, I liked the characters and storyline. At times, I felt like there was a little too much bickering, between the two characters. Even though there are references to the other two books in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. What is a clean, witty and fun romance!
Courage + Honesty = Trust and Love
Lady Harriett Cavendish is an original who truly wants to be appreciated for more than just her beauty. Thus far, all the gentlemen of her acquaintance have missed the mark. Sadly, the accomplished and charming Lieutenant Christopher Jamison seems to be the worst of them all when it comes to sincerity. The question is whether or not he can learn from his mistakes.
The first third of The Pursuit of Lady Harriett, a clean and sweet Regency romance, was a bit irritating because Lt. Jamison and Lady Harriett were both behaving in an annoying manner. In the next third, the story and the characters became much more interesting. By the end of the book, the love story and the happy ending were truly smile-worthy.
As with the other books in this series by Rachael Anderson, the writing was descriptive and easy to read. The characters had depth and personality, and I enjoyed the continued cameo appearances by the prior heroes and heroines. The real problem I had with this book was the story. It was a bit thin and was only really held together by the characters.
Content: This is a clean book that is suitable for any age reader.
This was a very fun read. You will enjoy it. No graphic sex scenes, which I really appreciated.
