Jack Williams has never felt so lost. For him, being a Navy SEAL wasn’t just a job, it was a way of life. Protecting people had always been his strength, until a career-ending injury forced him into retirement. He’s struggling to start over when he stumbles across a car in a ditch, springing him back into action. Only this is no random citizen in distress. He knows the pretty face behind the … wheel. Intimately. In fact, there’s a good chance the baby in her arms is his.
One year ago, Samantha Engel was forced into witness protection to escape her ruthless mob-boss father. Jack had been her protector, and seeing her again now, in desperate need of help, stirs up a flood of emotions that catch Jack off-guard. Scheduled to testify against her dad, Sam is now on the run. Her father’s offering a pretty penny to anyone who can silence her for good. Jack may not the protector he once was, but he knows one thing for sure: if Sam and her baby are in trouble, he’s not letting them out of his sight.
With tensions running high and temptations running higher, Sam readily puts her life in Jack’s capable hands. Once the only person she could trust, she’d feared her daughter would grow up never knowing the man she owed her life to. But being back in Jack’s arms—and his bed—makes her heart pound like no time has passed. With the mob threat closing in, Jack knows failure isn’t an option. But even if they survive, Jack will have to fight to find a way to keep Sam and her daughter under his protection, or risk having to say good-bye again—this time for good.

The Protective Seal by Kate Knight is a romance and an adventure story, which does well with both targets. Jack is everything a Seal should be: strong, smart, protective, and gorgeous. Samantha has gotten herself into a tricky situation in the Costa Rican rain forest where she has hidden to escape her mob boss father. She needs to be returned to the witness protection program but first, a steamy night in Jack’s bed.
Whadaya’ know? She runs into him again. Does the mob boss dad still want her? Does Jack still want her? Can any of them get what they want?
Knight does a terrific job telling a story. This one is relatively realistic but they are still leaving bodies lying around. Amazing. Characters are good. After a little taste of Jack and Sam in Costa Rica we got a much better taste later on. The story is compelling: running from the bad guys always is and Knight does well with it. The plot is mostly believable, certainly enough to keep the reader interested. As always, the end comes too quickly. It is a romance, after all. I like it. I like all of Knight’s books. I recommend it. You will like it, too.
I received a free ARC of this book. The opinions contained herein are my own.
Jack Williams was a SEAL on a mission and saving Samantha Engel in Costa RIca from the goons her father, the head of the mob in Chicago, sent to kill her was that mission. After a night of passion, they part ways, never to meet again. 15 months later, still in witness protection Sam’s life is once again threatened. After avoiding getting killed during a relocation to a new safe house, Sam and her beautiful daughter, Glory, run into the last man she thought she would ever see again. Jack, now a civilian, sees Sam and her daughter and his need to protect her becomes his primary mission. This is an action pact story that will have you holding your breath waiting to see what the mob goons are going to do next to “silence Sam” from testifying against her father.
Another hit for Katie Knight.

THE PROTECTIVE SEAL By Katie Knight
Samantha Engel and Jack Williams meet when as a seal he rescues her in another country. They have one passionate night. After a career ending injury, Jack is back in Nebraska farming. A lucky break comes when Samantha needs rescuing again and placement in Witness Protection and accidentally runs into Jack while walking in the dark with her baby daughter Glory. I found this book to be one that after picking it up I did not want to put it down. Jack and Sam have great chemistry. There is suspense, angst, mafia, and intrigue. I give this 5 stars.

Good
The SEAL protected Sam from the beginning. They were meant to be together so when their lives crossed paths later. Jack the Protected SEAL was overjoyed & he continued being her protector while being in witness protective program. I enjoyed the book.

This was the first book I had read by the author. It was fast paced from the start, kept my attention and found it to flow wonderfully. A few minor errors (his instead of hers, etc) but really nothing to detract from the story itself. Was it believable? Mostly – overall, that’s what books are for in my opinion. Sometimes I like the yes, there’s a bit of believability or complete disbelief but in both cases, fun – an escape. Conversations were definitely on par with the ages of the characters. I wouldread another of her books.

This is a gripping, suspenseful, romantic and thrilling story. While Jack was a SEAL, he went to Costa Rica and rescued Sam from her father’s hired assassins. Sam needed rescuing because she had agreed to testify against her mafia boss father, who didn’t appreciate that. Jack is tough, determined, caring and sweet. Sam is strong, brave, resilient and vulnerable. The night they met they ended up in bed, the next day she was in witness protection. 15 months later Jack finds her walking down a country road in his hometown, carrying a baby. Her father has been relentless in trying to kill her, Jack knows he needs to protect her until he can get her safely back under protection. It’s bittersweet realizing that the baby is his, but that he can’t be a part of her life. Neither Jack nor Sam ever got over the night the spent together, and they are even more drawn to each other now, but they know she has to disappear again. But first she has to survive in order to put her father in prison. It’s a heartbreaking story with a happy ending.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
I loved this book. I thought Sam was so strong to decide she was going to testify. The way Sam and Jack met and created Glory was good also. By the end Jack was able to better believe in himself and was so in love with Same and Glory. Loved this book.

This SEAL is the perfect alpha hero
The Protective SEAL by Katie Knight checked all the boxes for me in this well written story about a hero SEAL and his strong woman. Jack and Sam’s story is non-stop danger and action with the adorable addition of a secret baby and steamy chemistry throughout.
This author did a great job of developing these characters with emotional depth that the reader can’t help but feel everything they feel.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book by Katie Knight, a new author to me, and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

Well written and full of suspense.
Samantha was rescued by Jack in Costa Rica over a year ago. While waiting for their transportation out, they spend one night together. They were not able to resist the attraction they felt for each other.
Now Samantha has agreed to testify against her mob boss father and is being moved yet again in the witness protection program. Now she has a six month old daughter, too. When one of the agents assigned to move her turns out to be on her father’s payroll, she must escape to save her and her daughter’s life. When she has an accident on a country road at night, she is rescued by Jack, who lives in the area. The sparks are still there but so are the men trying to kill her to keep her from testifying.
When Jack learns that the baby is his child, the result of that night so many months ago, he knows he can’t just leave Sam to look after herself. As they flee, trying to get her to safety again, they are fighting this attraction. They know once Sam and Glory are in witness protection again, they will never see each other. But can they get her under protection and safe until she can testify against the father who wants her killed. Jack’s SEAL training helps but he knows he is not going to be able to protect her alone.
Read to find out if Sam is able to testify against her father. Will she and Jack be able to stay together after all?

The story starts out by Jack and his seal team rescue Sam in Costa rica from her fathers henchmen. She overheard her father order a hit on a congressman and she agreed to testify. Well surprise surprise, 6 months later she’s on the run again and meets up with Jack again in his hometown. One of the agents taking her to a new location and safe house while in witness protection took a bribe to get to her. There’s lots of action, a happy surprise for Jack and a long road till she has to give her testimony against her day. A really good book. (less)
