Jack Williams has never felt so lost. For him, being a Navy SEAL wasn’t just a job, it was a way of life. Protecting people had always been his strength, until a career-ending injury forced him into retirement. He’s struggling to start over when he stumbles across a car in a ditch, springing him back into action. Only this is no random citizen in distress. He knows the pretty face behind the … wheel. Intimately. In fact, there’s a good chance the baby in her arms is his.
One year ago, Samantha Engel was forced into witness protection to escape her ruthless mob-boss father. Jack had been her protector, and seeing her again now, in desperate need of help, stirs up a flood of emotions that catch Jack off-guard. Scheduled to testify against her dad, Sam is now on the run. Her father’s offering a pretty penny to anyone who can silence her for good. Jack may not the protector he once was, but he knows one thing for sure: if Sam and her baby are in trouble, he’s not letting them out of his sight.
With tensions running high and temptations running higher, Sam readily puts her life in Jack’s capable hands. Once the only person she could trust, she’d feared her daughter would grow up never knowing the man she owed her life to. But being back in Jack’s arms—and his bed—makes her heart pound like no time has passed. With the mob threat closing in, Jack knows failure isn’t an option. But even if they survive, Jack will have to fight to find a way to keep Sam and her daughter under his protection, or risk having to say good-bye again—this time for good.

Until next time… Happy Reading!
The story starts out by Jack and his seal team rescue Sam in Costa rica from her fathers henchmen. She overheard her father order a hit on a congressman and she agreed to testify. Well surprise surprise, 6 months later she’s on the run again and meets up with Jack again in his hometown. One of the agents taking her to a new location and safe house while in witness protection took a bribe to get to her. There’s lots of action, a happy surprise for Jack and a long road till she has to give her testimony against her day. A really good book.
Jack Williams is a Navy Seal who has to protect Samantha Engel when she is forced into hiding after she agrees to testify against her father who is a mobster. They give in to their attraction one steamy night in Costa Rica, thinking they will never see each other again. As luck would have it, while under the protective custody of the U.S. Marshals, Sam’s life is compromised and she has to escape a crooked agent. As luck would have it, she ends up stuck in a town called Rally, with the one and only Jack Williams. Can he help keep her safe? How will he handle the surprise that Sam has? This was a fast paced adventure, with so much action. I really enjoyed it! Jack and Sam had smoking chemistry.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have to confess that I wasn’t expecting much about this book after the last one by Katie Knight I read. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed Saving the SEAL Baby Daddy; but it is hard to point out something interesting about it after several months. So, the frenzy that is this book has caught me off-guard. I was ready to hate it, but the final veredict is far from what I thought it would be.
This time we follow Sam, the only daughter of a mafia boss who doesn’t want to take part in that world. Quite the opposite. She wants to bring her father down by testifying against him in the court. But the mafia boss is not going down that easy and has put a price to her daughter’s head. Luckily fir her, a brave SEAL team takes her to a secure position. There is guarded by no other than Jack. Due to the excitement of the chase, they blow some steam between the sheets and part their separate ways. One year later, Sam is still running for her life and, by chance, she ends in Jack’s town. He again accepts the protector role, except this time there is a young girl in the mix…
So, it happened again. A couple of adults forgot all about safe sex. At least this time they were in the middle of nowhere and not in a hotel of a town with plenty of commodities. And yes, the adrenaline was high this time and that could be an excuse. But what is not excusable are those Sam’s comments when they meet again: “Let’s have unprotected sex. What is the worst that could happen? Pregnancy?” Seriously?? Have you never heard about STDs? Did you know that people can get really sick because of them and even die? Are you absolutely certain that getting pregnant is the worst case scenario? I hate that they belittle such a huge problem…
Thankfully, this book has much more to offer; so I can forgive that misstep. This story is non-stop action with Jack and Sam running from one “safe” place to another, with bad guys chasing them every step of the way. Bad guys that do not held themselves and use every page of the Masters of Evil book to get what they want. We have showers of bullets, car chases, crooked cops, traps… A whole menu of action scenes that make this book a really fast and light reading. It keeps the reader engaged all the time, with little rest to catch your breath and put a bit of romance. In that aspect, the book is superb as a summer reading.
The characters are nothing extraordinaire or with any trait that set them apart from other couples in the Romance genre, but they fit seamlessly into the story. Sam is a remarkable strong woman, being capable of rising a kid while running from one place to another in order to save their lives. It is a wonder she is capable of trusting anyone after witnessing how her father can buy almost anyone to put them aganist her daughter. Jack is also a nice character. It is not the classic ex-soldier that becomes a policeman, detective or bodyguard. He has other dreams as a teacher and farmer, what possibly makes him be less robotic about human relationships. He is also the star of some of the cutest scenes of the book, where he researches in YouTube how to take care of a kid or the time he compares changing a diaper to assembling a rifle.
With those two as the main couple, the romance comes pretty easy. It is simple and sweet, with enough passion to suppress yawns. It is not mindblowing and it won’t leave a mark, but it is the perfect companion for the action. If you prefer more the romance side than the action one, then this book is not for you.
I must also congratulate the author on those chapters where Stefan gets the focus. Stefan is the father, the big bad mafia boss. And yes, he is evil and doesn’t deserve a second chance, but getting to know him a bit has been a nice touch that has made the story much richer. I hope the time in prison makes him reflect on his actions and realize he could haver been a much better person.
THE PROTECTIVE SEAL by Katie Knight is a contemporary, adult, military romantic suspense story line in the author’s series of US Navy SEAL stories. This is US Navy SEAL Jack Williams, and Marine Biology undergrad Samantha Engel’s story line.
Told from three third person perspectives including Jack and Samantha THE PROTECTIVE SEAL follows Samantha Engel, the daughter of Chicago mobster Stefan Engel, as she is forced into witness protection in an effort to escape the wrath of her murderous father. Approximately eighteen months earlier our heroine found herself rescued from the Costa Rican village by a Team of US Navy SEALs where she will come face to face with her future, Jack Williams. Fast forward to present day wherein Samantha’s life hangs precariously in the balance as her father plots her demise from inside his prison cell leaving our heroine on the run for her life, along with that of her six month old daughter’s. With no where else to go Samantha lands in Rally, Nebraska in the hopes of finding the man she hasn’t stopped thinking about. Enter former US Navy SEAL Jack Williams, and the man with whom Samantha will fall in love. What ensues is the rekindling relationship and romance between Samantha and Jack, and the potential fall-out as our couple struggle to stay one step ahead of the killers sent to destroy it all.
Samantha Engel has never stopped thinking about the man who saved her life all those months ago because one night of passion gave Samantha something more precious than anyone could have imagined. Desperate to protect her daughter and her life, Samantha battles between head and heart knowing she would bring with her danger and death at every turn. Jack Williams had no idea he was a father but seeing Samantha’s daughter he knew immediately the child was his. With a family to protect, Jack becomes guardian and protector to save the woman with whom he would fall in love.
WE are introduced to Jack’s friend, former Navy SEAL and US marshal Zeke Taylor, as well as Samantha’s father Stefan Engel, and a large number of agents and assassins sent to take out our story line heroine.
THE PROTECTIVE SEAL is a story of family, betrayal, power and control. The fast paced premise is energetic and engaging; the characters are colorful and strong; the second chance romance is steamy and passionate. THE PROTECT SEAL is an intriguing and suspense filled story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Just the absolute best story. It had me captivated from the beginning with the hot steamy scenes. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it! Everything I like to read about and more. Such a great story I will read again and again. A keeper!!

Samantha is the daughter of a mob boss and she has agreed to testify against her father so she had to go into witness protection. Jack is part of the rescue seal team that went in to get Samantha so she could be protected. They shared an amazing night together and then she went in the program. However not long after she entered in she learned that she was pregnant with Jack’s baby. There was no way of letting him no without risking her protection so she just tried to move on with her life. She runs into Jack again when she ends up in his hometown and on the run because her handler is on the take by her father. What will Jack do when he learns about his child? Can they be together with how they met?
This is an amazing story that will draw you in from the first chapter. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

First time in coming across this author the title drew me to try this. I am a sucker for a novel containing a Seal especially one that has so much promise. In this one though this Seal has gotten a little lost since he had to retire but not by choice so that right there gets us wrapped around his finger. He still has a mission so to speak and that is where we get wrapped up solid in this. Jack and Samantha take you on this one giving us a look into intrigue and suspense with the romance that is fueled once again. The drama that threads through this keeps us also along with all the others one that we stick to until the last page.
The Protective SEAL is a wonderful story packed with danger, intrigue, undeniable chemistry and second chance romance. Jack and Sam are incredible together and their depth of attraction was evident from the beginning. Circumstances have separated them for over a year, but an attempt on Sam’s life throws them back together and reveals a secret that will change Jack’s view on the path of his future and a life he never envisioned.
The Protective SEAL has everything a romance reader thrives on; there’s a hero, a damsel in distress (but definitely not a shrinking violet) and some serious danger and suspense. And add to that a fabulous plot, great world building and some tugging at the heart strings, and you have it all. Ms Knight has definitely hit this one out of the park!
The Protective Seal had me on the edge of my seat from page 1! What a ride – not only is there a hot Seal and the heroine I want for a friend, there is their adorable baby. Sam and Jack had one night together before she went into the witness protection program, so baby Glory is a surprise for him. When the US Marshals protecting Sam are compromised near where Jack grew up, Sam heads to his home town in search of a place to hide and regroup, she encounters Jack. Although Jack has been retired from the Seals due to a knee injury, he is immediately protective of Sam and Glory. The attempts to kill Sam before she testifies against her corrupt father intensify and Jack does everything in his power to protect the two main ladies in his life knowing that they will soon disappear back into witness protection. Sam and Jack get their happy ending but there are a lot of nail biting situations in the journey.

This is a well written romance with very likable characters. Jack and Samantha have great chemistry when they first meet but are then separated due to career and personal circumstances. When they meet again the chemistry is still there and even hotter. This is a cute story with lots of action, drama, adventure and romance. It’s a fairly quick read, only taking 2-3 hours but it’s a delightful way to spend those few hours!

I loved this story.Jack saves Sam on a rescue mission when he was a SEAL, but now he is retired. She is running from her witness protection handlers, because they are crooked. Unknowingly she runs right straight into Jack’s arms in the middle of nowhere. She has a baby and he figures out that this baby is his and the attraction between the two is still off the charts even though they keep trying to hold back. She is running from the goons of her mafia father that is trying to kill her so that she does not testify against him. The action is constant and the emotions run wide. You will enjoy how this story unfolds.

How heartbreaking must it be to go into witness protection, knowing that the person you are protected from and testifying against is your own father. Now the time has come for Samantha to testify against him, but her protection detail has been compromised. As she goes on the run, the person that Sam runs into is Jack, the former Navy Seal, and the man she had a one night stand with before being handed off to witness protection. Their romance and the suspense becomes fast and furious as they work to stay a step ahead of her father’s minions, and stay alive so she can testify. A page turning romantic suspense story, I would like to thank Booksprout for the gift of “The Protective SEAL”. My opinion is freely given and my own. 4.25 Stars!
I couldn’t help but like both of the main characters and the dramatic start of this book as they first met. They are running from Samantha’s father until Jack gets her to what he thinks is safety. But neither one of them forgot the other.
The tensions do run high as the dangers keep increasing. Sam’s father is ruthless, wealthy and has eyes just about every where. And just like you would expect he just seems to keep knowing where she is and coming after her.
Sam is tired of running, endangering her daughter Glory and putting others in danger too. Who can she really trust? She is determined to put an end to things by testifying against her father. She also wonders if she can really have a normal life after that. She sure hopes so.
Jack is often wondering if he can really protect Sam and Glory. Sure he is an ex-Seal but he’s been out of the game for a while and this is too important. When he sees Sam again, he realizes he never really got over her. Then came the surprise of Glory.
If you like a story with lots of action this story has it. If you like to see a story with romance and tenderness, once again this story has it.
I liked how the ending came about and enjoyed the whole story. I thought it flowed really well and think that the co-partnering thing is working out really well too.

Jack and Samantha were thrown together during a rescue mission in Costa Rica when she found out she was being targeted by her Mafia Father. What started out as a moment where they just wanted to find a little normalcy and maybe act on the instant attraction they felt for each other turned into something neither of them would realize at the time. Neither thought they would see each other again and then just when Sam needed him again, there Jack was. Can they survive what comes next? This was a good book with action and romance and a quick and easy read.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.

This was such a good story. It was so easy to get lost in it right from the beginning. The action and chemistry between these two was immediate. I loved how the book was written in a multiple POV. Getting into the characters mind set really helped me to understand the characters so much better.
Sam is in protective custody with the U.S. Marshals as she is going to testify against her mobster father. Unfortunately it seems her father’s hired goons are always one step behind her. She is on the run again when Jack comes across her. Jack is a former SEAL who rescued her over a year ago. This time though she has a baby with her. Little Glory is his daughter. This story is how Jack tries to keep Sam and Glory safe.
There were scenes where I cried. They were so poignant and heart-breaking. I hated to see the story end. The only word of caution, do not start it late in the evening. I stayed up so late to finish this that my eyes were so dry and the words became so blurry but I continued on. I couldn’t put the book down. I highly recommend this book.
This is a highly entertaining, sexy fun, action packed adventure filled with danger, mystery, witty banter and sweetly sexy passion…. an enjoyable read from beginning to end that had me turning pages wanting to know more. Excellent reading!
One of my most favorite books. I just could not put it down. It kept me on my toes while I was reading. Can’t wait to read more.
