Jack Williams has never felt so lost. For him, being a Navy SEAL wasn’t just a job, it was a way of life. Protecting people had always been his strength, until a career-ending injury forced him into retirement. He’s struggling to start over when he stumbles across a car in a ditch, springing him back into action. Only this is no random citizen in distress. He knows the pretty face behind the … wheel. Intimately. In fact, there’s a good chance the baby in her arms is his.
One year ago, Samantha Engel was forced into witness protection to escape her ruthless mob-boss father. Jack had been her protector, and seeing her again now, in desperate need of help, stirs up a flood of emotions that catch Jack off-guard. Scheduled to testify against her dad, Sam is now on the run. Her father’s offering a pretty penny to anyone who can silence her for good. Jack may not the protector he once was, but he knows one thing for sure: if Sam and her baby are in trouble, he’s not letting them out of his sight.
With tensions running high and temptations running higher, Sam readily puts her life in Jack’s capable hands. Once the only person she could trust, she’d feared her daughter would grow up never knowing the man she owed her life to. But being back in Jack’s arms—and his bed—makes her heart pound like no time has passed. With the mob threat closing in, Jack knows failure isn’t an option. But even if they survive, Jack will have to fight to find a way to keep Sam and her daughter under his protection, or risk having to say good-bye again—this time for good.

Is Jack her white knight?
Sam met Jack when he saved her life in an extraction in Costa Rica. They had a one night stand and she entered WitSec. A year and a half later, she’s set to testify as the star witness and the mob is after her and her security detail is seriously compromised.
She runs to the town Jack mentioned. With her baby Glory. The product of that one night with Jack.
Jack is now out of the military, working an organic dairy cow farm while trying to get a teaching job.
On a dairy cow feed run, he sees Sam. And Glory and is psyched to be a father. He lacks direction and being a dad gives him one.
But can he keep both Sam and Glory safe? Cuz they are coming for them with guns blazing.

Enjoyable read. Starts right off in the thick of the action with Samantha and Jack. There is a hunky ex seal, a vicious mob boss who just happens to be her dad. Corruption and heroes, a baby, steamy sex and HEA. Thank you Booksprout and Katie Knight for the opportunity to read this Arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and unsolicited.

I really liked Jack and Sam. Even though they had one night together, they had a connection and they couldn’t stop thinking about each other. Seeing each other again a year later and Jack realizes he has a daughter. Even though there are dangers they have to overcome, Jack knows this is it for him. I love how the story developed and you could see yourself getting invested in the characters. You understood where they were coming from and felt their pain but also felt their love. I like that there was more than one intimate scene so you were able to feel more for them and how they were feeling. Really loved this story and will be reading more from this author.

One of my favorite things about this book is the seamless way Katie Knight weaves the past and present together; there is never confusion or distraction – instead, from the opening story of Jack’s rescue of Sam in Costa Rica through to the books’ eventual close, the story is seamless and easy to read. The story itself is suspenseful, with enough surprises to keep anyone happy. The characters are appealing and human, and Jack’s wonder over Glory is delightful to read. I just wish his cousin hadn’t had to lose his cabin as he did!

Sam is a research marine biologist and daughter to the head of the Mob in Chicago. When she decides to testify against her father, she is in Costa Rica attempting to get murdered. Jack is one of the Seal team sent in to extract her to safety. They have one night together and she got something extra. She is in Witness Protection in transit when she is again under attack by her father. This time she has a six month old daughter. She escapes in Nebraska near where Jack lives and goes to him. He is out of the Navy but swears to protect them until her father’s trial. Nicely written and lots of action and suspense.

Sam was to go into protective custody because of threats from her criminal father. Jack was part of the seal team protecting her. Very good story with lots of action and steamy scenes. The characters were very well portrayed and vibrant. Very good read!

I enjoyed this book. The story was entertaining, the characters likable and the writing good. A woman in desperate need of a hero and a wounded hero that needs to feel need. Lots of drama, emotion, action, danger and excitement help grab and keep your attention. I liked Jack and Sam so much and I was so happy that they got a second chance at a HEA. A really good read. This is my candid, voluntary review.
Samantha (Sam) was in protective custody when Jack came to her rescue and for one night they shared a hot night together but the next day she was placed in witness protection. Sam had to be protected from her mafia father who she was to testify against. Fifteen months later she is being moved when her fathers men kill her guards and come after she so she heads to Jacks small town in Nebraska and as luck would have it Jack finds her after she crashes her car but he never expected to see the daughter he didn’t know he had. At the time twists and turns happen that will keep you turning the pages. Great drama, suspense and romance. Loved it.

This book has an adventurous storyline that is romantic as well. These two meet, have a night of fun, then a year later she finds herself with the man she’s never forgotten, along with their daughter. Their adventure to their HEA is a strenuous one but they make it and all the pain and adrenaline is worth it.

This was a well written, sweet, sometimes steamy story about a hottie Navy Seal and the woman he has to protect. It follows a basic script, but feels pretty fresh anyway. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the wishy-washy mental monologues, but aside from that it had great characters and felt pretty plausible.
