I can’t save myself from the Cloister, and maybe I never could. The Prophet grows more dangerous by the day. His delusions are steeped in blood, and if I’m not careful, that blood will be my own. Despite the growing risk, I still continue the search for the truth, no matter if the thorny path eventually twists back to Adam, guilt in his dark eyes. I’ve seen glimpses of his soul, and I know there … there is more to him than the monster, but it’s so hard to reach him. I knew when I came here that I’d have to fight, I just didn’t realize the war would be waged on so many fronts.

You can not leave me hanging like this
I am in a form of shock …. I expected so many horrors but none can come close to the twisted truth… Once my heart slows I will write a full review … For now, I’m going to curl up and cry
I am finishing my review -the trauma is still there
So much happens in book two that I never ever saw coming
The Prophet shows us the level of depravity and psychosis we are dealing with in a whole new darkness (I would say light but there is absolutely none to be found) it also shows us the instability that the true believers are capable of and OMG wait until you get that plot twist crammed down your throat
Adam decides enough is enough and intends to right his wrongs Will he be able to rescue his maiden? Will she even survive the correction she is undergoing for her previous escape attempt? What is the big secret with regards to the winter festival? So many questions – and not all the answers are the ones we seek
I am not giving anything away -NO SPOILERS – Please give me book three
“He bites my back, an animal keeping its mate in place. My body quivers under his possession, each of us slick with sweat.”
I’m literally speechless…. I have no idea what I just read. After The Maiden I never thought the second book will be able to top it. But here we go! The Prophet is even stronger than its prequel. I’m still stunned about how Celia managed to turn The Prophet into an even bigger page-turner than the Maiden.
“His easy confidence is back, the usual darkness, the quiet air of control. I did that. Am I the music that can calm the beast?”
After we were left with a cliffhanger at the end of The Maiden, The Prophet picks up right with what happened after Delilah and the others were caught. And the consequences – as expected – weren’t pretty. I don’t even want to imagine what Delilah must have to endure and I guess even the strongest soul would break after this.
“She calms the storm that constantly rages inside me with nothing more than her presence and a softly whispered “hi.””
If you thought, you were up for a dark ride roller coaster in The Maiden, be prepared for an even darker ride in The Prophet. There are lot of things that will surprise the hell out of you. Yet still this book is more thrilling and cruel, hot and intense with the already known terrifying darkness.
“I kiss her forehead and let the emotion that I don’t dare name flow between us. It’s the one tie that no power on heaven or earth can sever, but it’s so fragile in this place that speaking it aloud will surely destroy it.”
Reading The Prophet will pull you deeper in the dark net of The Cloister and it leaves only little to the imagination. We find out a lot more about all the sinister secrets, not only within the organisation, but also inside the characters that keeps our eyes glued to the pages.
The Prophet with its hypnotizing dancing flames of darkness, full of imagery, passion and energy will lure you even deeper into the net of the sinners than you can imagine.
“I smirk and lower my mouth to her throat, biting hard and then licking my teeth marks. “You’re playing a dangerous game.” “We all are,” she whispers.”
And this cliffhanger is killing me! How can you leave us reader hanging like this, Celia? 😀
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
What did I just read…OMG that was the mother of all cliffhangers!
I can tell the author is playing a mind game with us here, suddenly we don’t know who the bad guys are, except for the Prophet, of course, or who we should trust, or how many more atrocities we are going to have to endure. And just when you think you have a handle on things…think again!
Is Noah and Adam’s mother really a victim?
What would you do to protect and save the one’s you love? Adam shows us!
And if you thought for one second there was any humanity in the deeds of the Prophet, the answer is clear as you turn the final page.
The Cloister series, so far, has been one depraved ride to crazy town and I can’t wait to see how Celia Aaron bring it to conclusion. However, be warned, this series is very dark and very hard to read at times. Also, if you are not a fan of the cliffie you may want to wait until The Church is due to release, because this one is a doozie!
Just as good as the first book. It is so intense and dark. There is more background into the characters and that ending!!

Holy sheet!
“We’re damned, all of us. ”
How do I explain what this did to me? I can’t process what happened in this book. I am on an emotional roller coaster, and I don’t think I will be getting off of it anytime soon.
Adam and Delilah had a few dark moments in this book, but I was wrong in my review on The Maiden. The dark is just about to begin.
“No one quotes scripture better than the devil.”
The Prophet really shows his true colors in this book. I thought he was psychotic in the first book but I was wrong yet again. And poor Noah had to keep finding out the hard way.
““He’s still a man. Still flawed. But yes, I believe he’s a prophet of the Lord. And that God and the Father of Fire are two sides of the same coin. He speaks to them.”
I hold the bottle up to him in a half-ass salute. “Well, at least you’re more fucked in the head than I am. I’ll drink to that.” ”
Adam tries again and again, but I am hoping that Noah sees clear after how this just ended. But sometimes, people just don’t want to see.
“If my father’s taught me anything, it’s that true believers will hold onto their blind faith no matter what. ”
I am eating up this series. I like it more than her Acquisition series. I’m normally bias about it because it was the first series and book I ever read by Celia Aaron.
I’m going straight into The Church next. I need to know what happens from here.
The Prophet starts where the last book “The Maiden” ends. Delilah has been caught and is in big trouble. She is being held and tortured. Adam is beside himself for bringing her back to the Cloister but he had no choice. He knew that if he didn’t they both would be killed.
When Delilah is finally released Adam can’t stay away from her. He knows he is being watched by his father and the rest of the Cloister but he can’t seem to help himself. But when someone decides they want to buy Delilah he will do ANYTHING to save her. Even if it puts him in the crosshairs of everyone.
Delilah and Adam are two sides of the same coin. The good and the bad. I love it. Adam is doing everything he can to stay alive so he can protect the ones he loves even if they don’t want to be saved.
But there are things going on that even he doesn’t know. And when he finds out all hell is going to break loose. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy for my honest review.
I’m still shocked but not as shock as when I read The Maiden. Let me just say… If you think that you know what will happen… You DON’T know. The history behind some of the characters will leave you speechless and questioning. I don’t know who will make it out of The Cloister or who will ultimately make it out of Heavenly. Everyone is either dark and twisted or utterly brainwashed. And there are only a few that can be trusted. I need The Church like yesterday.
Phenomenal read that gets better with each book. Expect the unexpected!!! So dark.. so twisted… You root for the good and hate the evil. Riveting, you’ll devour and race to get book 3. I highly recommend this read!
OMG! What the heck just happened?! I am speechless! This story picks up where book #1 left off and hits the ground running. Delilah was captured during her attempted escape, and returned to the compound. She is paying a high price for disobeying The Prophet and she might not be strong enough to resist his punishments this time. Adam is beside himself worrying about her safety, while trying to play the game and protect those he loves. But that just might be his undoing. This story has so many twists and turns that kept me on the edge, guessing what will happen next, and who to trust. At times it was so terrifying, I had to put it down and breathe, only needing to pick it right back up to find out what was going to happen. I was so captivated by this story and I loved every twisted, horrifying, seductive, steamy minute. The ending blindsided me and left me totally stunned! I can’t wait for the last book in this series to find out what is in store for Delilah and Adam!
Celia Aaron has taken us to church and made me a believer! I’ll be singing her praises to the entire book community. She has exceeded all limits that I had for this second book of this trilogy.
This series is totally in my wheelhouse and brings me all the wicked and despicable subjects that I love to read, but some may deem as reprehensible. I delight to indulge in all the sinister and ritualistic abuse, the exploitation of the consensual and non-consensual sex, the torture, and the skillful manipulation that physically and psychologically exploits The Heavenly members. (Perhaps this is where I should say “read the warning”).
I am not going to delve too much into the story as I do not want to divulge any secrets and I believe that the less the reader knows going into a story, the better it is. I will tell you that there seems to religious revolution on the horizon, agendas are evolving and one of the members may become a sacrificial lamb for the greater good.
If you love to dabble in the darker reads, make sure to one click this deliciously appetizing sinful saga.
This is an awesome book that will have you on the edge of your seat from the beginning until the end. The ending will blow you away.
This is a must read series.
This book picks up where the first one left off and the twists kept coming while the author weaves more to the plot. The religious aspect was still there and forefront but it wasn’t as daunting to me as it was in the first book. More dark aspects emerge and Adam plays the game perfectly until the end. I do have to say that the romance aspect of the story is something I’m not really feeling. I get the attraction that the characters share but them falling for each other? Not so much. They aren’t getting to know each other. I get that there isn’t a lot of time to talk but even the little time they have could be spent a little more wisely. I have high hopes for the last book and plan to dive right in. 4 stars #2OCCJD
My heart..my head…my SOUL! This author continuously surprises me with her creative writing, which sometimes I may confuse with soul sucking, because let’s be honest-this book consumed me. This series has been the best kind of torture, and I wouldn’t trade it for a thing! This is the series I hope never ends- I was literally glued to my kindle while savoring this masterpiece of a story. There aren’t enough good things I can say about this book, so I’m going to advise you to one click it ASAP. Clear your calender, (you’ll need like a week of recovery time too) and sit down and enjoy the greatest series you’ll ever get your hands on.
This is book 2 in the Cloister series, and it’s only gotten better, but so much worse for all the characters involved. Delilah and Adam are in trouble like they’ve never thought about before, and it’s evident that I can’t even begin to guess what’s going to happen next. I’ll be on an adult vacation from life when The Church is released, and until then I’ll be re reading and rocking in the corner afraid for these marvelous characters Ms. Aaron has concocted. I’m truly marveled at how she’s created such a large group of characters that have their very own personality. Even the supporting characters have blown me away in this book. Delilah and Adam are in a ball park of their own, and I’m anxious to see all the loose ends that will be tied up. Go pick up this book now! – By Victoria
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
The Prophet is the second book in The Cloister Series from Celia Aaron. You must read the first book, The Maiden before you attempt to read this book. If your a fan of dark books I am going to go ahead and tell you that this is one you do not want to miss.
I can’t save myself from the Cloister, and maybe I never could. The Prophet grows more dangerous by the day. His delusions are steeped in blood and if I am not careful, that blood will by my own. Despite the growing risk, I still continue the search for the truth, no matter if the thorny path eventually twists back to Adam, guilt in his dark eyes. I have seen glimpses of his soul, and I know there is more to him than the monster, but it’s so hard to reach him. I knew when I came here that Id’ have to fight, I just didn’t realize the war would be waged on so many fronts.
HOLY HOLY CRAP!!!! There is so much that goes on in this book. Since it is the second book in a dark series it is so hard to review it without giving something away. I will say that it starts right where The Maiden left off. The Prophet is slowly becoming more delusional by the day. Adam is well Adam and you get to see more glimpses of why he is the way he is besides being the son of a psycho. Delilah is still a Maiden but man oh man the things in store for her in this book had my mouth hitting the floor and me wanting to go and rescue her by my lonesome. I swear to you when you get to the end of this book you going to gasp, probably scream no, be shocked, cry at little but most of all I have been done for a day and all I can think about even while I am reading my next book to review, is the end of this book!!!! I need the next book now. I don’t think I will be able to get really into another book until I know what is going to happen to Adam and Delilah. You guys do not want to miss this series. Its so dark and messed up and shocking, but oh so very very good.
5 dark stars for this depraved and twisted story that I loved.
Mrs. Aaron gives us a masterpiece that managed to keep me hooked from the first page, I loved it, I loved it, this story will become one of my favorites of all time.
As we saw in the book one of the series, Delilah joined the Heavenly Ministries, which is a religious cult, which actually hides a depraved, sinister, ruthless prophet, and left me wanting to get into the book and strangle him. I think there are few characters that I have come to hate so much, because he is a totally hateful character even with his family. Meanwhile, Adam is the protector assigned to Delilah and has to subject her and train her sexually.
Delilah wants to investigate the death of her sister, but everything gets complicated and both she and Adam, her protector, realize that what they feel for each other is not just an attraction. I love all their scenes together, they are so sexy, so erotic, that I blushed several times. And as time goes by, the relationship evolves and the characters realize what their true feelings are.
Adam, oh God, if I loved him on The Maiden, in this installment he left me completely and totally in love with him, he is so sweet, so sexy, so perfect, and my heart broke for him again and again. Also, I was more intrigued by Noah and I really wanted his story.
But, there were turns that I honestly did not see coming, it left me totally in shock and all my hypotheses were brought to the ground, and that ending was totally heart attack.
With a plot well developed in double point of view and complex characters, the author gives us a masterpiece, full of torture, violence, erotic situations, sexy, drugs, dark that sometimes led to chills.
If you like dark, erotic and sexy stories, super recommended for you.
Omg, omg omg….I can’t even!!!! Oh Celia you beautiful devil! To end on such a note, I’m dyyyyyyyyyiiinnnng over here!!! This series has torn me apart at the seams, never have I longed for the following book like I have this series! You just keep elevating yourself with EACH BOOK (must be the hooker heels;) I need the next like Delilah needs Adam. Their passion, their chemistry, their raw visceral need consumes me with each torrid meeting. Gah, read this series, follow this amazingly beautiful dark and twisty writer! Follow me down the rabbit hole that is the Cloister!!!!
Because this story is so disturbing and outright horrific I want to give it a 1. But the characters and world building are so well written and I can’t stop reading so it gets a 4, you promised redemption and light at some point…please get there in book 3!!!
Where The Maiden left you with so many questions, this will give you answers to ones you never even thought about
Caught in the clutches of a cult led by a mad man, desperate to find the truth about what happened to Georgia. This is a dark and twisty romantic suspense of the very best kind. It’s the second book in a trilogy and can not be read as a stand alone. It also ends on a whopper of a cliffhanger.
I was attracted to the series by the blurb and the promise of darkness. I liked The Maiden, but it did leave me a feeling a little frustrated, it just lacked something that would have made it great for me. I was almost 50/50 on continuing with the series but us dedicated book whores can’t leave a story unfinished. I’m glad about that because, despite my fears, this book was everything I could have hoped for and more. I haven’t read a Celia Aaron series before so don’t know if this is her normal MO, but it seems Book 1 was scene setting, Book 2 is throwing all the facts and possibilities out there and I’m assuming Book 3 is the resolution.
Delilah was caught trying to escape the compound, as punishment she is sent to The Rectory, where they break souls and minds. She isn’t in there that long but what follows….OMG. We spend less time in The Cloisters in this book, and less time with most of the Maidens. In many ways this felt much more like Adam’s book. Don’t get me wrong, we still get alternating pov’s (plus a chapter from Noah that will knock you sideways).
The first dozen chapters just threw revelation after new revelation at me. Things you wouldn’t have even suspected from reading The Maiden! The revelations don’t end there. You will be on the edge of your seat, you will be horrified, fearful, curious and devastated, right alongside Delilah, Adam and Noah.
Don’t start this book unless you can read it in one go. You won’t want to put it down. Prepare to be shocked beyond your wildest suspicions (I won’t say dreams, it would be more like nightmares in this world). Georgia, Noah, Delilah, Adam, their mother, Grace, Chastity ….. oh my word you will see these all with new eyes. And the ending. The ending will slay you. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
It’s impossible to say any more without spoilers emerging so I’ll leave it at that.
Having read this episode of the series, I am much more confident in recommending these books. You need to read all 3 and they do have some very dark elements, violence, non-consent involving side characters, torture and abuse. They most certainly aren’t a “rainbows-and-unicorns” read but if you like your romance to be dark, violent and less than shiny then this is for you.
When Delilah first joined The Cloister, she never thought she would be pulled in as deep. But it was too late to turn back now and she had to endure until she gets the answer that brought her there in the first place.
Adam Monroe had been concocting a plan of actions. But as he got closer to his goals, things were shifting and he had to decide if it’s worth losing everything he ever lived for.
This book picked up right where the last book left off. True to her fashion, Delilah kept getting herself in trouble while trying to weed out who’s friend and who’s foe.
I like how we get to see more of Adam’s past, the things that defined who he was today. However I still wanted more especially when related to a certain character because it was only scratching the surface.
As the story continued, the pieces started to fall in place. While things were progressing in multiple aspects, I still prefer the pace to be a little faster.
In this book, several revelations were unveiled and it would make an interesting change of direction in the finale. I’m looking forward to see how it will all tie together.
My heart is racing. It’s trying to beat out of my chest. I am in shock, awe, and completely flabbergasted. I thought I could predict the end but well, who can predict a madman?
The Prophet is seeing to his sheep. Keeping them in check and enjoying the benefits. Do not disobey. Do not question the Prophet. Only obedience. If you do as the Prophet says, you will be rewarding. If you are hurting, it’s because you don’t truly believe.
Believe and you will be rewarded.
I can’t even!!! If I didn’t know better, I would assume Celia is starting the Cloister and these books are testimonials. Wait!?! Celia, you aren’t right?!? Dibs on Adam! (Who am I kidding, I’m long past Maiden status!)
I was so intrigued to read this series. A sick twist in my stomach at the premise because it happens everyday. A young girl lured into “a better life” only to be sorely mistaken. But even with my distaste, I knew I need to read it. And boy oh boy was I hooked! The Maiden introduced the main players in this twisted play. The Prophet cements your ties and makes the lines clear.
What would you sacrifice on the Prophet’s alter?
You are about to find out!
