Delightfully descriptive and wonderfully imaginative The Prophecy is the conclusion of the Bernovem Chronicles by Victoria Simcox. It had been some time since I had read the last installment and I had to go back and refresh my memory so if you’re just starting I would definitely begin at book 1. The myriad of characters are very colorful and engaging. Filled with both good and evil, their quest is filled with danger, action and adventure. There were so many wonderful parts but I must say I loved, loved the ending which wrapped the series up very nicely. I would definitely recommend to those 12 and older who enjoy a great fantasy otherworldly tale and if you are one who reads aloud to others I found the short chapters and alliteration kept attention throughout making for a fast paced read.
It had been a while since I read book 3, The Medallion, and when I began reading The Prophecy, I was a bit confused with all the characters. When they fell into place, I was able to enjoy the story. I really liked the short chapters, which had me racing through to read what happens next. Each chapter was a series of action-packed events that eventually leads the reader to the climatic ending.
I wonder if the author has another installment in the works because Kristina is growing up, and I was left hanging about two boys, both of which I adored.
This book is not categorized as a Christian novel, but I felt a deep underlying faith-based structure to all four books, this one included.
Wow – the author didn’t let you off easy with this final book. Normally, in a series, you can feel it headed toward the end, and yet this one continued to twist, turn, introduce characters and keep you guessing until the end—amazing job carrying this unique story and cast of characters through all of these books.
I would highly recommend that you start at the beginning of the series and travel this engaging, humorous adventure from page one until the final curtain call – you will not be sorry.
Honestly, I keep thinking as I read the back of the books that this is for younger readers, and yet Victoria Simcox has a writing style that defies niches. Adults, teen readers, and even more mature will revel in the imagery and imagination that this gifted writer can translate to the written page. I loved the finale and looking forward to other great books by this author.
An exciting end to a fun, imaginative series!
The Prophecy starts with a bang, plunging us right back into the story where we left off in Book 3. Kristina and James are on Finimus Island, Sepel, Raspue, and Looper are in trouble at the palace, Werrien is Sentiz’s prisoner, and Sentiz herself continues her march to power in service of the evil Resucca.
Kristina is still tasked with finding the missing pages of a very special book–and she has to keep the precious Medallion out of Sentiz’s hands.
While Kristina and her friends struggle in separate groups to save what’s left of this magical land, they are beset by monsters, deadly vines, spells, and attacks from Sentiz and her followers in their hideous “divine” forms.
The story moves fast, and there is humor as well as harrowing adventure–Zalya and her dogs, in particular, are bright spots in the midst of the great struggle the characters find themselves in.
In addition, there is some fun word play and some big surprises that long time readers of the series will appreciate.
And there is also time for romance, as Kristina finds herself torn between her feelings for James and Werrien.
Kristina and the others also grow as characters, and there are some valuable moral lessons here as well.
The official description says that this is the last book in the series, but I am hoping that Victoria Simcox changes her mind and takes us on another trip to Bernovem someday!
This, the fourth book in the Bernovem Chronicles, is the best of the four books. The evil queen Sentiz is in power and tension mounts in this story as she prepares top take over. The characters are cursed, taken over, controlled and some are seemingly swayed to her side. The book of Prophecy is sought and found. its message seems to say that Sentiz will take over and Kristina will fail in her attempts to take the queen out of power What of Werrien and James, or Jade as he comes to be called? The powers of queen Sentiz are strong. Can they be overcome? This fourth book must be read to learn the answers.
Fans of the Bernovem Chronicles will not be disappointed in this latest installment in the series. The story picks up right where it left off in The Medallion. Kristina is on Finimus Island. Werrien is imprisoned. Sentiz is determined to become Queen of Bernovem.
With the evil Resucca threatening Bernovem, Kristina, James, Raspue, Strolin, and Looper search for the Book of Prophecy. But the evil forces of Bernovem will stop at nothing to keep Kristina and her friends from finding it.
In the midst of the turmoil enveloping Bernovem is a budding romance between Kristina and James.
This fourth and final book in the series is exhilarating. The pace is electric. The action lets up just long enough to give readers a closer look at the characters and their developing relationships before moving on to the next thrilling scene.
