This is a fantastic story. I loved how Kael would stop at nothing to rescue Raven. There was lots of heat and endearing moments in this story.
I found this book to be riveting. That rarely happens to me. I was quickly engrossed finding it a fast paced suspense romance. I received an advanced copy of this book and freely leave this honest review.
The Prophecy is the first book of the Daughters of Morrigan series, a steamy new paranormal romance series by Nina Croft. The writing is great and the characters are interesting. The book blurb pretty much lays out the intriguing storyline so there isn’t anything I have to add to that. I enjoyed this book very much and can’t wait to read the next book of the series.

I really enjoyed reading The Prophecy. The story, characters were great and the pace of the story was really good.
Missed this one first time around so glad to get it this time and open it up. This one is full of adventure in this world where Raven is in the center of it. This is also the first in a series so glad to catch at beginning. It starts the button of adrenaline to see if Kael can be the winner in this scrimmage in the war. You go rooting for alot in this one as everything goes on around you. I do like where it leaves you but I hope not to miss the next one.
The Prophecy is the first in Ms. Croft’s Daughters of the Morrigan paranormal romance series. As such, there is a bit of space devoted to explaining the world in which it takes place, but considering its rather short length, the balance here of story vs. exposition is actually fairly decent. Ms. Croft tends to throw us right into the story first, and explain the details later, usually in the form of one character explaining something to another that clues the reader in as well–it’s a good use of the limited page space here.
Overall I really enjoyed Raven and Kael’s story–the genre definitely helped here, because aspects that might have bothered me otherwise (he is an adult when she’s born; their love is definitely on the insta- side of things…) tend to seem more normalized when paranormal creatures are involved. I’m looking forward to seeing where Ms. Croft will go with the rest of the books in the series–this one was the perfect size to squeeze a bit of escapism into a busy weekend!
I didn’t read the original version of this story (this revised version was released on 3/25/19), so I can’t say what was different from the original–but this stood alone as a story just fine.

Good beginning, excellent even but i want more of this series to answer some of my questions? That being said this story is perfectly balanced between action, romance and intrigue so we are not getting the feeling it’s too short ; of course we wouldn’t mind more but it’s really well done we don’t get an unfinished feeling and i loved that.
The universe sound riche we have shifter, vampires, witches, demons and faes and probably more so i do want to know more like how a vampire can get a witch pregnant; it doesn’t bother me it can be part of the universe but i would have loved a small explanation as it’s not usual.
With so many group of paranormal we can imagine that they are a lot of tensions and intrigue and we do get a small glimpse of that with what is happening inside the council but not much yet.
We are focusing on Raven half vampire, half witch since a prophecy is saying that who will sacrifice her , with some conditions, will be the big victor she was doomed. Each camp wants her dead…and she partly accepted that. So when someone comes to save her she can’t really believe it or more exactly she isn’t sure that is why should be done after all what she was confronted to while in captivity.
Kael is a shifter, the last one and head of the council. He has a lot of responsibilities but he is utterly loyal and a good person. His powers are really interesting and he is quite powerful but not arrogant which i really appreciated. He is determined to save Raven for deeper reasons than even himself thought at first.
This is a great story and i will be curious to see how it will evolve with the numerous twists we already got. To recommend
I know this is a re-release and since I didn’t read the first version I cannot say what changed but this new release was fast-paced with well-developed characters and great world-building. The relationship between Raven and Kael developed super fast but because it was sort of “fate” I think it worked with the story. I would have loved to see more of this world with more action but even as a short read it still packed plenty. Can’t wait to read more in the series.
** I received this book at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher **
3.5 stars–THE PROPHECY is the first novella in Nina Croft’s contemporary, adult, DAUGHTERS OF THE MORRIGAN paranormal romance series. This is witch/vampire hybrid Raven Cole, and shape-shifter Kael Hunger’s story line.
NOTE: THE PROPHECY was originally released in 2010 but has been re-edited for new publication.
Told from third person perspective THE PROPHECY follows in the wake of a prophecy foretelling of a virgin sacrifice that will achieve great victory in the war between good and evil. Twenty years earlier, Raven Cole was sent to live with her father, in an effort to keep the prophecy from being fulfilled. As the daughter of a witch with the sight, Raven has seen the future, and the future does not bode well for our storyline heroine. Trapped and imprisoned by fire demons, Raven will come face to face with her future-shape shifter Kael Hunter-and the man with whom she will fall in love. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Kael and Raven when Kael makes Raven an offer she cannot refuse.
THE PROPHECY is a quick read; a story of greed, power, war and betrayal. Beaten and battered, Raven struggles to survive only to realize that all is for naught if the prophecy were to come true. Discovering Kael Hunter in her cell, Raven must come to terms with her future, a future that may not include the man with whom she will fall in love. The premise is engaging; the romance is quick and passionate; the characters are broken but determined.
