She’s been a proper princess—but she wants to rebel. After the death of her fiancé, Princess Madeleine knows a loveless, arranged marriage awaits her. She’s resigned to her fate until she meets her intended husband. Crown Prince Enrique is gorgeous, but he comes on way too strong, says the wrong things, and fumbles with apologies. He’s more court jester than Prince Charming. How can she marry him?… can she marry him?
Enrique might be self-centered and lack social skills, but he’s trying to do better—for himself, his country, and his future wife. Despite their royal union being a political necessity, he wants his marriage with the captivating Madeleine to be a love match. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to woo her. How hard can it be to win his princess bride’s heart?
Nearly impossible, he discovers, because Madeleine seems unwilling—or unable—to give him her heart. On their wedding day, instead of exchanging vows, will the royal couple say goodbye?

I didn’t like Enrique in the last book. He was stuffy, said the wrong things, and planned an awful wedding for Jules without her input. But he shows in this book that a person can change. He still puts his foot in his mouth, but he is much more compassionate and he notices what Madeleine likes and makes her happy like daisies and chocolate. I loved that he enjoyed gardening. He was so sweet with the heart transplant child Reggie from the hospital who gave him a bottle of antiseptic after Enrique told him he was afraid of germs. Madeleine spent much of the book pining for her lost love Louie, so I wasn’t sure if she would ever open her heart to the possibility of loving Enrique especially after he kept putting his foot in his mouth. There were plenty of funny, sweet, and romantic moments in the royalty marriage of convenience romance.
Princess Madeleine’s heart had been broken since her fiancé died five years ago but her duty is to get married and raise heirs. Prince Enrique wants to be the king of his island kingdom. Without ever meeting each other the have to get married in two weeks.
The awkward selfish prince and the heartbroken princess, a marriage of convenience is what’s in their future. But then they are getting to know each other and become friends, and that first kiss. Can the still make something good from their marriage?
This is really a great story. A handsome but somewhat selfish prince, a beautiful but heartbroken princess, friendship, humor and of course love, this book has it all.

I do love reading about royals and the Her Royal Duty series by Melissa McClone continues with “The Proper Princess” which is my favorite to date with Princess Madeliene and her instant attraction and undeniable chemistry with Crown Prince Enrique. I knew I wouldn’t be able to put this beautifully written book down as soon as I started reading and just didn’t want it to end. This is a perfect vacation read and will leave a smile on your face and warmth in your heart. I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I love this series and this is my favorite!!! I’ll admit I didn’t care for Enrique in The Perfect Princess until the end and I barely cared for him. It is two years later and I love him – not romantically – he has grown and changed so much. He is such a caring and selfless man. Another arranged marriage and with the Proper Princess – Madeleine. She is still grieving her dead finance. Loved how their relationship changed and Enrique was finally able to love and be loved. I highly recommend this book and this will be one I keep and read again (I don’t do that very often).

Excellent addition to the Her Royal Duty series. We met the hero in The Not-So-Perfect Princess, and I had my doubts about Enrique, but Melissa McClone did a wonderful job of redeeming him. He is so lovable in his ineptness in the beginning and then so kind, caring and romantic. I laughed and cried throughout the book. Definitely some very poignant moments. This story has all the feels.
Who knew Enrique was so likable? Enrique was introduced in a previous story and was not very likable. He has made a great effort at changing himself. And he is an awesome prince. Madeleine was a princess doing her duty. Thinking she had already lost the love of her life, she was doing her duty as a princess to marry a prince to help her country. But Enrique and Madeleine seem to bond quickly. The story was sweet and the characters likable. I’ve liked all the stories in the series but each story stands on it’s own. Great book! I loved reading it from beginning to end. It’s a touching & moving romance.
It is about a Princess, still in mourning.
And a Crown Prince, who thinks his heart
is broken. An arranged marriage has
been set up between Madeline & Enrique.
But will they let love into their hearts?
Madeline Enrique , are perfect together. Another fabulous book in
the series. I adored everything about this
Must Read Story!!
