Jessica’s world turns upside down when her husband was killed in a car accident. Life as she knew it, was completely changed.
Then she sees Cole, the handsome, forbidden fruit. The one she promised her husband that she would forget. Seeing him again brought out emotions she has hidden deep within her soul.
Aidee Jaimes has written an emotional story of second chance love, seeking forgiveness from her dead husband and also she needed to seek forgiveness within herself, before she could forward with her life..
Felicia Palmer tells the story with perfection. She gives all the joy, love, anguish and emotions to all the characters.

The Promise by Aidèe Jaimes is a contemporary romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Felicia Palmer.
All I can say is Wow!!! Aidèe did it again! This story is so emotional and raw that I had tears in my eyes throughout this book. She does an amazing job making you feel all the emotions that Jessica and Cole are experiencing. Absolutely amazing series!
Felicia did an amazing job on the narration! She brought the story to life beautifully. I cannot wait to listen to more of her work in the future.
Aidèe and Felicia are an amazing duo.
I would highly recommend this book if you love Contemporary Romance, Women’s Fiction, or Romance in general.
What a great writer! Telling the story of an affair of a married woman with such feeling. And even though the love she feels for Cole, the love she feels for her husband is still there. She does not want to further endanger her marriage and lets Cole go, but has never forgotten him. 10 years later she meets him again. It brings back memories but also her promise to her now deceased husband. The choices she makes come across as real, you fully empathize. The passion between Cole and Jessica, so palpable. But the guilt remains, especially towards her children. Where does this promise lead ……

This is the 4th book I’ve read written by Aidee Jaimes; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

Okay, so I normally don’t do the whole cheating thing but there was just something about this read that pulled me in and boy – was I pulled in. I just couldn’t help but get captivated by this storyline and characters. The emotion and turmoil that Jaimes brings in this read is amazing.

I typically don’t like cheating in my books, but something about this blurb just pulled me in and I had to read it. I’m so glad I did. Sweet romance, but full of angst, pain, guilt, and most of all, love. The author took me on a full ride of emotions, right along with the MC and had me rooting for Jess and Cole to find a way to make it work. This is my first read from this author, but it certainly won’t be the last.
Emotional 4 ½ stars – Normally, I don’t read stories with cheating but I make an exception for this author because her writing is good and the depth in The Promise is no different from the first book. Jessica’s story is emotional. Her suffering grips you. It’s a very well-written story. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
The Promise gave me all the feels! It is a sweet and sad second chance romance, that also happens to center around an affair that the main character had. While Jessica is the cheater in the story, I don’t fault her for it. I actually really liked her character and sympathized with her. I can definitely see the attraction and pull that she felt from each man in her life. Kevin, her husband, gave her a sense of security and comfort. Cole, the man she has a brief affair with, ignited a spark within her that made her feel passionate and desired. She ends up reconnecting with Cole long after their affair ended. Now she struggles with having feels for him and the guilt from their affair all over again.
One thing I liked was that each aspect of the story was well thought out and executed. Her affair and subsequent reconciliation with Kevin, her re-connection with Cole, the guilt and sadness she feels, lastly her being a single mother and struggling to balance life, work and love while raising children alone. I haven’t read a cheating story before and I feel like this one was really well done. One thing I would have liked, to be a little tiny bit nit-picky, is to get more POVs from Cole’s perspective. I didn’t find him particularly like-able for a long time so that would have helped I think. Lastly, while this says The Affair #4, it is not necessary to read the prior books in the series. Those center on a different couple, while that couple is in this book, this could be considered a standalone in the overall series.

She’s a mess.
Jess’s husband Kevin died two years ago. She had her S together then. Sort of. She did have an affair.
Two years later, she’s a mess, broke and miserable. I have to say, I really did not like her. She came across as entitled and needy.
Cole, the guy she cheated on her husband with is back. Not sure why it’s such a big deal, because Kevin is dead and has been for two years. I get that she made a promise, but it felt like unnecessary drama.
While I do not condone cheating it was the main focus of this book. Jessica and Kevin have known each other since middle school but ten years ago she was totally attracted to Cole a man working on their home. Well one thing leads to another and she sleeps with him only to confess to Kevin which he does not take well but after a few months they decide to work through things and stay together since they have a little girl. Years later Kevin gets killed in a accident and for two years Jessica struggles now the two more children to care for. When her friends invite her to a weekend get away she and her daughter go along leaving her two sons with her parents. She never expected to see Cole again but there he is for the weekend and they still have the same attraction but the weekend goes all kinds of wrong and she and her daughter leave early. Is there any future for Jessica and Cole?
You hear Jessicas story briefly in the affair duet. This book finally gives us the whole story of her affair and the fallout of her decisions. When Jessica and Cole first meet she is married with a one year old daughter and Cole us doing their house remodel. While knowing what she was doing was wrong the pull to Cole was too strong for her to resist. Soon though the truth comes out and her husband chooses to stay with her after certain compromises and rules are set in place. 10 years later Jessica is now a widowed mother if three when she collides with Cole once again. The attraction is still there under the surface, however there is also hurt and animosity as well. These two have alot to work through in order to finally have their chance together and it was a great story to read. I beg you not to write off this book because of the past cheating between the main characters because this book deserves to be read with an open mind and a forgiving soul. Sometimes life is not fair and the timing is not always right. This book is a story of two people who once had horrible timing finally getting their chance at love and it was a great tale to read. I loved this book and the characters in it. You will laugh and cry and at times want to hit something but in the end it is all worth it to get to read about Jessica and Cole getting their hea. An amazing read through and through!
