Good predictable plot.
A delightful read, even though it was out of my preferred genre and usual choice of leisure reading. I loved the author’s excellent tight prose. No one word in this short novel failed to add to the thread of this well-written story. Being unfamiliar with New England and this early period of American history, I thoroughly enjoyed this book of …
It’s 1720 in early history of Maine. Harsh treatment is found in jails, quick judgement was executed; and, men ruled the household over women. This christian novel tells of church in the meeting house, bible reading after dinner each night, and, hangings were the punishment levied in most crimes. The town thought Jack was guilty so he was …
The Prisoner’s Wife is a moving story that I will read multiple times. Jack and Lucy are complex characters I enjoyed getting to know as they struggled to reconcile their faith in God with unfair and undeserved difficulties. A fast paced book, the story is set in 1720, a time period about which I know very little. The author does a great job of …
This was a fascinating study of the characters!!! Very well written and informative..
Good book for a road trip! Interesting and clean!
It was spell binding. I didn’t want to put it down until I finished the book. There were lots of situations where I couldn’t figure out they would get out of the hard situations there were in. There were plot twists I didn’t see coming, but it turned out that they lived happily after. I like those endings as there is so much wrong in our world …
Not your typical romantic story, but a bit of a love story. More about “right” Vs “wrong”
Had a sad beginning but ended well.
Great read! Although I realized the “bad guy” early in the book, it was interesting to see how she would prove it was he. She did a very credible job of incorporating characters who accidentally solved the mystery—although sometimes I wanted to hurry them along and would find myself saying, “Tell them, tell them!”
Good easy read
An unselfish man and a wonderful woman who loves him makes for a good story
What a good read. Different from the normal.
This was so different than what I expected. I loved the characters and the time setting.
A GREAT read!
couldn’t put it down!
Loved this book!
This was a fun book to read. The characters were not-so-perfect, so I could relate.
Loved it from beginning to end
This book had a different concept than many others I have read. It still held the typical romantic notions and you knew who was going to end up together in the end, but it had a different story line to get there. Highly recommend reading this book
