Anyone who lived through the 1980s may find it impossible—inconceivable, even—to equate The Princess Bride with anything other than the sweet, celluloid romance of Westley and Buttercup, but the film is only a fraction of the ingenious storytelling you’ll find in these pages. Rich in character and satire, the novel is set in 1941 and framed cleverly as an “abridged” retelling of a centuries-old … centuries-old tale set in the fabled country of Florin that’s home to “Beasts of all natures and descriptions. Pain. Death. Brave men. Coward men. Strongest men. Chases. Escapes. Lies. Truths. Passions.”

One of my favorite books of all time!
Most people have seen (and adored) the movie written by the author. Fortunately, the movie does not do the book injustice.
It is always difficult to compare a book and a movie, just because the two mediums have so many respective limitations. However, when it comes to the Princess Bride, the book and the movie are perfect companions for each …
what can I say? An incredible classic!
Even better than the wonderful movie it inspired- go get it!
This book is perfect in almost every way. One of my favorites.
True Love never had it so good.
Love it. Movie too.
A classic. Read and enjoy.
Amazing must read

After growing up with the movie, this book did not disappoint!
A classic
even better than the movie.
One of the best.
An entertaining story made into a great movie
I re-read this book every year, and it never fails to entertain me!
The Princess Bride is an absolute joy to read, full of adventure, satire and hilarious villains. Although I have read it several times, it never fails to make me laugh out loud. Even if you have seen the movie, it is very worth the time – the book is still full of delightful surprises, and is much funnier than the film version!
Book is by far SOOO much better than the movie.
It’s the Princess Bride, what need be said? It is a classic. Although written for young adults, anyone would enjoy it.
If you love the movie, definitely read the book! It is just as funny in my opinion!
