The Prince Who Captured Me is the sweet/tame version of The Prince’s Bride. My dearest Anteros,I’ll never forget the elaborate masked ball I attended a year and a half ago when I first met you. You arrived attired head to toe in black with no other adornment save for a large diamond which twinkled from your right ear. Your black satin mask concealed your expression, making you ooze mystery with … making you ooze mystery with your hair slicked back and your blue eyes shining as deep and as bottomless as rich sapphires. Dark and dangerous you appeared behind your mask, the type of man one didn’t trifle with, not unless they enjoyed said danger.
A few short days past, you came to me with a request I couldn’t turn down, not when my family owes you a great debt which I wish to repay. I understand your father is demanding you wed, something you’ve no intention of doing and I’ve agreed to your ruse, will gladly speak false marriage vows with you so you can be rid of the spy your father has tailing you. Unfortunately, I never expected to be kidnapped by that spy and tossed on a ship bound for the Mediterranean, or to learn from my captor that you’re in fact a lost Prince of Naples and Sicily. Why couldn’t you have shared the truth with me from the beginning?
Please, take all care. I know you’ll be captaining your ship in hard pursuit. Don’t take any unnecessary risks. I have no intention of becoming your downfall.
Your devoted friend, Olivia.

Love this author’s books. They are so authentic and have such emotions, suspense and more to them. This captures your attention and keep it. A woman and man who know what they want. She does not know who he is at first until later. She agrees to help him and his father is a sadistic man and only wants his way. So his spy kidnaps her and runs off on a ship with her. There is so much more to it than that. No more spoilers. I don’t want to ruin the whole thing for you. I highly recommend it. I voluntarily review a copy of it for booksprout.
This nice and clean romance had me totally captivated from the very beginning with the well written storyline and characters that were so well rounded that I had a very hard time putting this book down!
A story that has a lot in it. Kidnapping, false marriage, secrets, twists, drama, danger and lots of emotions. It is a clean, romantic, dramatic and sweet romance with a nice storyline and plot. Likeable main characters who are well described and develops nicely through the story.
A strong woman who helps her friend when he is in need of her. Their feelings develops during the story. He does not want to admit he is in love with her but he has to at one point. But can they act on it?
Entertaining and enjoyable read.
A four-and-a-half-star review
Lady Olivia Can’t forget her hero and friend Captain Anteros. She will always be in debt with him, so when he comes to ask for her help, she didn’t think of it twice.
Captain Anteros has been enchanted by his angelo and he can’t forget her. However, she is too important for him to put her life at risk. What he doesn’t understand is that his angelo is his whole life.
Sometimes when you love someone so much, you want to protect that person. But sometimes that protection is not really needed.
Although I liked the book, I felt upset because the blurb of the book was so revealing. One of the best things about Joanne Wadsworth is that you never see what is coming your way, but unfortunately, does not happen in this book. That is why I don’t give it 5 stars.
I hope this is not the end of the series as there are several people I would like to read about, for example, Adrestia, Christopher Raven, Captain Bradley Poole and even Violet.

“sweet” version of another of the author’s books
As with most of her books, the author has written a “sweet” version, and a “steamy” version. This is the “edited for TV” version.
The story is interesting and full of danger and intrigue. It also has good period details and the history is accurate.

A strong heroine and a strong hero and evenly matched in stubbornness. This was a fun read, with romance and a little suspense, some twists and turns to keep you entertained.
There is room for more stories, I hope.
My free opinion. Thanks

Captain Anteros Bourbon has been a mysterious character in the past few books. He comes in on his ship The Cobra and offers aid and even saves the day. In this book it is revealed that he is an Italian prince in hiding and that because of the enemies he has made in his line of work he refuses to marry and put that woman and their children at risk. But he can’t help falling for his “angel” Lady Olivia Trentbury. His father, the king, is determined to wed him to a royal lady of his choosing and even has his henchman Bruno kidnap Olivia to try to bend Anteros to his will. Anteros and his sister Adestria have to chase him down and rescue her before it is too late. This book claims to be sweet, but there were a lot of sexual innuendos and Anteros takes advantage of Olivia encouraging her to sleep with him without taking her virginity. I did enjoy the secondary characters: Adestria, Giovani, and Violet Russo, and look forward to reading their stories.
Lady Olivia Trentbury hurried to the British Museum to meet a man of mystery, the most mysterious she had ever met. Captain Anteros Bourbon had sent her a letter and she was eager to see him again, despite the nervousness of her maid. Giovani, the Captain’s right-hand-man, stepped out from the shadows and tipped his hat, reassuring them that they were both safe and that he eagerly awaited her arrival. The Captain had saved the lives of her sister and brother-in-law and she felt she owed him a great debt. Perhaps that was why he had asked her to meet him?
Anteros told her that he had renewed his contract with the English king and the Portuguese royal family to keep the French from sneaking past English defenses on the coastline. He would be away for three months. Now that she was 22 and may look for a husband soon, he wanted to warn her of specific men who were looking for large sums of money and she should avoid. He told her that he and his sister cared for her and would always guard and protect her as family.
Anteros and Giovanni came ashore on the Bay of Algiers. Covered in dark clothing, Anteros did not want his father to suspect he was there while he went to consult a seer friend of his, Shira Ria. They ate and it was time to tell his future, but he was not comforted by her words. He had to keep Olivia safe and not draw her more deeply into his life than he already had.
Anteros does meet with his father and is told that he is to marry an Archduchess from Austria. Instead, Anteros chooses to set up a ruse with Olivia to speak false marriage vows to avoid the contracted marriage. But the spy Anteros’ father has following him kidnapped Olivia and fled on a ship. Can Anteros find her? Will he realize how he feels and how she feels and give up on his stubborn refusal to marry for real? And when will he tell her the secret of who he really is?
Aside from the beautiful writing of this book, it is such a joy to read the details provided by the author of everything encountered during this period of time. It made the experience all the more authentic, along with giving the reader such an amazing story line! The characters are so realistic and lifelike, the dialog done so well. It’s a comfortable, satisfying read and I highly recommend this book for your enjoyment! You definitely won’t regret it!
Who is Captain Anteros?
What a fantastic historical romance by Joanne Wadsworth. The cast characters in this book were amazing. Who Captain Anteros is a secret, Olivia only knows him as a captain that has helped her family. The story is had drama, humor, sizzle, action, and suspense are in a well-written mix. I will be honest when I got to the last page I did not want it to end. I highly recommend this one. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is a clean romance with only a few instances of mildly heavy petting and one mention of Anteros and Olivia having made love. I did enjoy that Olivia was the stronger personality and knew just what would be best for her and Anteros. Our H (Anteros) however, was quite stubborn and was going to deny his feelings for Olivia until the very end even if it was going to make him miserable for the rest of his life, doggone it! Typical man, being all self-sacrificing and essentially just creating a big mess.
The dramatic plot twist is one that has been used by other authors but it was very well done and had a new secondary character introduced at that time which along with a good action scene kept it interesting. Overall, a satisfying read with a HEA as well as (Yay!) an epilogue!!

What an absolutely delicious story this was to read! I blame it on the author that my housework got ignored today, I just couldn’t put this book down. lol Now I feel like I’ve been on quite the adventure and can honestly say I am deeply in love with Anteros!!
Captain Anteros Bourbon, owner of a fleet of warships authorized by the English king to capture all merchant ships of French origin, sails the seas on his ship The Cobra. He first met Lady Olivia Trentbury at a masked ball and after a mission of protecting her sister and brother in law, they have become good friends and he visits her whenever he lands in England. The chemistry between them fairly sizzles and they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. Anteros tells her he will never marry, though, because he would not want to bring a wife in the dangerous life he leads.
Olivia is quite the stubborn and spirited lady and will not take no as an answer!! When she gets kidnapped, he rushes to save her and although he’s still fighting his true feelings for her, he soon realizes he can’t live without her. He also has a secret which must be revealed!!
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series and I’m hoping the author will continue it….I would love to read Adrestia’s story! She’s Anteros’ sister who sails the seas and captains one of his ships. So many times the secondary characters can become so well liked and you want a HEA for them as well:)
