From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes a new story in her Wicked series… She’s everything he wants…. Cold. Heartless. Deadly. Whispers of his name alone bring fear to fae and mortals alike. The Prince. There is nothing in the mortal world more dangerous than him. Haunted by a past he couldn’t control, all Caden desires is revenge against those who’d … against those who’d wronged him, trapping him in never-ending nightmare. And there is one person he knows can help him.
She’s everything he can’t have…
Raised within the Order, Brighton Jussier knows just how dangerous the Prince is, reformed or not. She’d seen firsthand what atrocities he could be capable of. The last thing she wants to do is help him, but he leaves her little choice. Forced to work alongside him, she begins to see the man under the bitter ice. Yearning for him feels like the definition of insanity, but there’s no denying the heat in his touch and the wicked promise is his stare.
She’s everything he’ll take….
But there’s someone out there who wants to return the Prince to his former self. A walking, breathing nightmare that is hell bent on destroying the world and everyone close to him. The last thing either of them needs is a distraction, but with the attraction growing between them each now, the one thing he wants more than anything may be the one thing that will be his undoing.
She’s everything he’d die for….
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.

Here’s the thing… I thought with this book being called The Prince that it would actually be about… you know… The Prince. And while Prince Caden was all over this story, it was really about the idiosyncrasies of a girl named Brighton.
I haven’t read the Wicked Trilogy (yet), but this novella gave enough of a hint to make it all pretty understandable. There are Winter Fae (who are evil) and Summer Fae (who are not). Caden is the Prince of the Summer Fae and keeps getting in the way of Brighton finding vengeance for the vicious attack that took her mother and nearly took her own life. As part of The Order, who monitor and protect against the evil fae, Brighton has never been taken seriously. She has no skills, she can’t fight, and she has been relegated to desk duty. At least as far as they know.
This girl has made it her mission to find her own justice against the fae who attacked her. She’s this close to the ancient one who led it all… too bad Caden’s also looking for the same male. And then there’s the sexual tension that seems to bleed into every interaction between the two. Can they have some hot sex already???
Wanna know how I know this author can write? I couldn’t stand the protagonist, but still found plenty to enjoy about this story. I would have given my left fang for just a taste of Caden’s perspective, even if it was just to break up the monotony of Brighton’s nonsense. I’m not a fan of single POVs, but I’m interested enough in this story to give The King a chance. I wonder if Brighton will finally act like a grown up and if these two will finally just get it on!!
I was quite excited to jump back into the Wicked world with this story. Brighton was a relatable heroine. Her motivations were clear, and she was easy to root for. I certainly wouldn’t mind having her in my corner, especially if she brings Tink along. He was laugh out loud hilarious as always. Caden was more mysterious. Given the events of his past, I would have loved a few scenes from his point-of-view. I was intrigued and wanted to know more, although the story rightly focused more on Brighton and her transformation. I am keeping my fingers crossed that there is more to come for these two!
It was so good to be back into the Wicked world. As usual, Jen got my attention right from the start with this book and I was sucked into this story from page one. The story was intense and had some very nail-biting moments and some pretty wild action scenes, but I loved this slow-burning romance in the story and the gradual build of feelings. Definitely a page turner.
I loved Brighton. She was the shy and passive girl in the previous books, but she did have an outstanding development in this short novella. She got all determined, more confident and tougher and I loved how her character evolved.
I still haven’t figured Caden – The Prince out. But I really loved his somehow distant persona, but at the same time caring and overprotective. He was really an enigma I would like to solve. I really wanted to hear his voice at some point. He was pretty amazing in action and then he was coming up with such lines that warmed my heart and made me grin like an idiot.
I loved the appearance of the rest of the gang from the previous books and their mentioning always made me smile. I had some good laughs with Tink of course who hasn’t changed at all and I love him even more. Secretly hoping we get a novella or something about him. The guy is just hilarious. One of my very favorite secondary characters.
There were some swoony moments, and then there was all this sexual tension which was off the charts hot and there were some pretty steamy scenes as well. Phew. Fanning myself thinking about it. Man, I really wanted this to be longer. Like a full-length novel. But Jen confirmed there will be a whole new book about them called The King. I really hope this turns into a series, cause that couple seems so promising. So I’m really excited to see what’s next for those two because with this ending my jaw kind of hit the floor! I’m starving for more! Let’s hope my hunger will be sated soon 😉
“You’re not a ghost. You never could be one, not when you burn as brilliant as the sun.”
I will admit that I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this book because Brighton didn’t really make much of an impression on me in the Wicked series. However, I was intrigued to read more about Caden and I love Tink, not to mention I will read anything by JLA so I gave it a shot. And I am so glad that I did! Brighton and Caden were not two characters that I would have thought to put together but it totally works.
While Brighton hadn’t made much of an impression on me before she definitely did in The Prince. She survived something horrible at the beginning of the story and decided that it was time for her to get off of the sidelines where she had been relegated her entire life. I love that she took ownership of herself and decided that she was going to get revenge and that she would do it her way.
We seen Caden as mainly a bad guy in the Wicked series so it was nice getting to see him as the good guy in this book. We really get to see how much he was affected by what the Queen did to him and what the consequences of that are. And I just have to say that the chemistry between Caden and Brighton is perfect.
This really was a great and quick read. Getting to see older characters was a definite plus but Brighton and Caden carried the book entirely on their own. And the reveal at the end makes me want to jump right into reading the next book.
“Why do you call me that? Sunshine?”
“Because I saw you smile once and it was like the sun finally rising.”

: The Prince
: A Wicked Trilogy #3.5
: Jennifer L. Armentrout
: 4.5/5
I was hoping this spin-off series would be about Brighton and it is… The book starts off with a bang and I love how much Brighton has changed, she turned herself in to one kick ass lady.. even though the rest of the order does not know and does not recognize the amazing lady she is becoming. The Prince is also not the character I expected him to be and I liked that, because it surprised me. It was also really nice to see a bit of Ivy and Ren in this book as well, but the star as always was Tink. I was so happy he had a big role in this book as well. This book is action packed with some laughs and love on the side. For a novella, it was balanced well.

If you have read my reviews before, you know I have a huge lady boner for Jennifer Armentrout! This book was mind blowing for me. I was so happy to be back in the world of her Wicked trilogy, seeing some of my favorite characters again. (Why, hello again, Tink.) And there’s something about the scenes Jen writes where the characters are in public, hiding from bad guys by simulating sexy times, that always gets the job done for me. If you are a fan of her Wicked series, and you should be, you need to read this one!!! Caden and Brighton’s journey will not disappoint you.
Cliffhanger omg omg omg!!!
The Prince is a novella in the wicked trilogy and it is everything. Wow i enjoy every second of it. I seriously can’t wait for next installment.
This is a novella set in the Wicked Series it’s Brighton’s book, we get to know her better and see how everything has changed for her since we last saw her. She’s definitely not the little book nerd anymore. She’s determined and on a mission of her own this time around but unfortunately not everything goes according to plan there is a certain male that gets in the way. Definitely an enjoyable read and can’t wait to read the next one!
Compared to the original Wicked series, I liked this one WAY better. Caden was AWESOME.
There is a very fine line between the things you want and the things you cannot have and with every turn of the page the story of Caden and Brighton brought that theory home. Within the Order revenge rears it’s ugly head and it is not the only thing that stands out. Jennifer Armentrout added another great addition to the Wicked series and with emotions running from laughter to tears this was a great read.
I love this series. I am so glad that we are getting more of it with Caden and Brighton. The two of them are so different, I really can’t see how this is going to work, but the pull between them jumps off the pages. The end of the book left me dumbstruck and I need the next book badly! I didn’t think I could love anyone more than Ren, but Caden is really jumping up there for me. I hope we get a little more of Ivy and Ren in The King. I am so happy that I have more of Tink too! He’s the BEST.
WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED.
I’m shook ya’ll! That seriously cannot be it. That absolutely cannot be how Brighton and Caden’s story ends. I will not and do not accept this! I DESPERATELY need more!
I’m a HUGE Jennifer Armentrout fan. I love her, I’m obsessed with her words and have been for as long as I can remember! I started The Wicked Trilogy the very second that Wicked hit my kindle and I’ve been obsessed with this series since then. Wicked was where we first met Brighton and Caden and we were lucky enough to continue to get glimpses of them throughout the trilogy.
When I first read the blurb for The Prince I was so excited. I loved both characters in the Wicked Trilogy and couldn’t wait to get more of them. However I never considered that they could ever be together. I was anxiously waiting to get my hands on The Prince so I could see how Jennifer Armentrout made this work! And gah did she ever make this work!
The Prince picks up two year’s after the events that concluded the Wicked Trilogy. The world for the Order and Fae has changed drastically. The effects from events that took place in the original trilogy and afterwards have left scars that may or may not be healed. While it’s short in length it’s not short in angst, action and character development. I’m always apprehensive about reading Novellas because it seems hard to write so much into something that’s not a full length novel. I feel like Novellas are either done very right or terribly wrong. The Prince was done very right! The character development and the development of the story were perfectly timed and suited the overall feel of the novella and the Wicked Trilogy as a whole.
From the moment ‘The Prince’ arrived in Wicked, I knew there was a story there. I never would have guessed what would’ve happened in Torn and Brave but was so glad that it turned out the way it did. I’ve always had a fascination with him.
‘The Prince’ or Caden was a completely different character in The Prince to what he was in Wicked. He was guarded and secretive and downright evil at times but in The Prince he was the opposite. A little sarcastic, a lot damaged, a ton sexual and I absolutely loved getting this side of him and learning more about him. He was compassionate towards Brighton and very tortured by his past actions and I’m incredibly fascinated and obsessed with him.
Brighton was a quiet character in the Wicked Trilogy. A little mousey but very intelligent. She’d had a difficult upbringing but still remained positive. The Brighton we get in The Prince is completely different. She’s strong in more ways than one, she’s still intelligent but also not afraid to stand up for herself and what she believes in. I loved Brighton, I loved her character development and I loved seeing these different sides of her. The reactions she has to situations were so accurate to what could or would happen in everyday life. She was true to herself from beginning to end.
Overall The Prince was a great Novella and a great introduction to Brighton and Caden’s relationship. It left us with one hell of a cliff hanger that requires answers as soon as possible! While this would be a great introduction to Jennifer Armentrout’s writing I would recommend reading the Wicked Trilogy prior to this Novella.

The fact that it’s not actually a standalone novella and that there is a second one releasing in almost a year!? Otherwise it was great! Loved the chemistry between Bri and The Prince. Loved the Tink moments and enjoyed the story-line.
This is the first book I’ve read by Jennifer, why haven’t I read more I ask myself, being a such a big PNR fan and not having read any of her’s – I know I’m bad, but this novella came up and I dived at the chance to read it – and boy am I glad I did, what a fabulous PNR world!!
I loved every minute of this novella, but not having read any of the 3 previous books I did feel a bit lost with the plot and the characters, so would recommend reading these 3 first. This is the only reason this book has 4 stars, else it would’ve been a 5 star read for me, I’m certainly going back reading the others!!
I loved Brighton and the way she set about getting revenge for what happened, never feeling able to be a part of the warrior group, she set about doing it all herself, knowing she was putting herself at risk while doing so. The Prince is mysterious and dark, brooding and the chemistry and attraction they have between them is off the chart. I really loved his character, having not read the other books I can’t wait to find out what happened to him in these with the Queen!!
The tension between Brighton and the Prince just rolls off the pages of the book, the attraction between them is so strong!! I loved the part in the bar where she is sat in his lap trying to stay undercover and not be recognised, the heat and tension in this scene was awesome!!
Like I say I loved it and can’t believe I haven’t read any of Jennifer’s books before now, time to put that right I think!!
Well, I wasn’t expecting to love this novella as much as I do. There was a lot of lusty heat packed into 125 pages. Like, damn.
First things first! You can absolutely read this if you haven’t read Wicked. BUT! If you do go that route, the resolution of Wicked is obviously discussed in The Prince, so it’ll be spoiler-ish.
One of the reasons I always come back to Jennifer’s novels are for the comedy and hilarious pop-culture references. As well as relatable heroines who are not only bad-ass, but intelligent and witty. The story moved quickly with a big WTF moment in each chapter, lots of action and thrill.
I also appreciate the message The Prince is putting out there about racism. Even though we are reading about Fae and humans, the lesson absolutely applies to modern day life. Basically, racism is REAL, no matter how much some want to pretend it is not.
I really loved this novella and can’t wait to read the next. There are some gaps to be filled and some kinks to be worked out, so i’m going to need The King right meow.
P.S TINK IS BACK, BITCHES.
I have so many conflicting feelings when it comes to The Prince and I’m just going to get right to it. There will be spoilers, so if you’ve not yet read and intend to, you probably want to nope out of my review.
I’m an unapologetic fan of Jen’s books. I’ll read pretty much anything she writes, even if it’s a genre that doesn’t typically interest me. I’ve not read a lot of PNR, nor do I plan to if I’m being honest, but I was intrigued by this series when it was first announced. So, I wasted no time reading the first book and loving it. I didn’t keep up with the series as it released, but I did read all the books. It was a great story with great characters and I loved the little world Jen created in New Orleans. Obviously I was excited to see it was going to continue and I was thrilled to get my hands on The Prince early.
I jumped into it just as soon as I finished reading Brave (a little late! whoops!) and I really liked Brighton right from the start. She was sassy and more than a little badass. I loved her banter with Tink because, well, I freaking love Tink. He’s one of my favorite things about this series as a whole and about this book specifically. I was intrigued by Caden and what was happening with him and Bri. They had chemistry for days, but I feel like it was never fully explored. Which, when you’re all about the ship and you read for romance, is a bit disappointing.
Ok, now the spoilers. I’ve always been under the impression the 1,0001 Dark Nights novels can live as standalones in the world in which they’re set. So, I was in no way shape or form expecting a cliffhanger in The Prince. If I’m being totally honest, I was disappointed. Not only by the cliffhanger, but by the way things went down in the end. I know there’s a bigger reason for it, but Caden’s behavior towards Bri was really off-putting. Then it was just… over. And there’s a pretty long wait until the next installment.
There was a lot to like about this book. Fans of the series will probably be interested in what happens next. I know I was. It just felt like there was something missing from this for me. I think it was the combination of the slow burn that never really gave way to anything, combined with Caden’s behavior and the unexpected cliffhanger. Now, it’s entirely possible this is a case of “it’s not you, it’s me,” so don’t let my frustrations keep you from enjoying it. I am looking forward to see where the story will go in the next installment. I just greedily wish it wasn’t so far away!
FAVORITE QUOTES
“I rode Dixon in here, like I would ride a mighty steer charging into battle.”
“I went down to Florida with him last September, and I decided after thorough exploration that Florida is the Australia of the United States. That place scares me.”
I wasn’t being a braggy-mc-bragster either. That was the damn truth. That was my job at the Order. The researcher. The reader. The studier. I was the Willow in an army of Buffys and Angels.
“You’re not a ghost. You never could be one, not when you burn as brilliant as the sun.”
Starting right after Brave (Wicked Trilogy), this tells the story of Caden and Brighton. Loved seeing characters return and the interaction between C and B. If you love JLA, this is a must for you. If you haven’t read the Brave trilogy yet, you can still read this but some parts might leave you a little confused as there’s no backstory. Definitely recommend!
Holy WOW! This is one of those books that I just don’t even know where to go with on the review. 1. It’s a novella and so I can’ talk about it too much because I don’t want to give anything away
2.Something happens that I did not expect to happen and I suppose I really should be able to tell you about it, because you will probably figure it out before you start reading, but I didn’t know and that left it even more shocking than if I had known so I think I should leave you in that same situation. Makes it more fun for me when you write me to tell me your thoughts, ha.
3. These characters! The Prince, Brighton, TINK….always TINK.
4. The possibilities…there endless and I never want it to end.
So many things, happening in this book. It’s been a few years since we left this world at the end of Brave. Evil still lurks, The Order is still fighting, Tink is still amazing…. But there are some things that will never be the same, like Brighton Her entire world was turned upside down in one tragic moment, changing her forever, making her into someone new . I loved Brighton, she is smart, funny, beautiful, kind, compassionate, bad a**! I hate what she had to go through to become the person that she did but I may actually love her more than Ivy (gasp) because of it. When I think of Brighton I hear Twisted Sister’s ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ playing as the soundtrack every time she walks in a room, lol.
The Prince, gosh, what do I say about The Prince. He makes me giddy. He’s been awful, he’s done terrible, horrible things, but he is not that man and though he struggles to accept his part in the past (something he could not control) and forgive himself he is determined to right the wrongs he caused (as much as he can anyway) and be the man he was always meant to be, even if it may break his and Brighton’s heart in the process. He is the perfect hero for Brighton. He recognizes her reasons, her strength, her determination. He may not like it, but he understands and tries to accept her path. he came across very much as the silent graceful man who will burn the world down to fix it.
The Order, we have to talk about them for one quick hot second. What is up with them, are they the good guys or are they now the bad guys. I don’t have happy good feelings about The Order after this book and that makes me a bit nervous but it also lends to a few bad a**, amazing characters to, oh how shall I put it….reconfiguring it all from the inside out. That I really look forward to because I think a certain someone would be an amazing leader of The Order!
It is amazing to me how much emotion Jennifer packed into this little book. I went on a roller coaster of them and loved every minute and need more now. I can’t recommend this book enough to you, especially if you have already read the Wicked Trilogy. While you can read this one as a standalone, I highly recommend starting at the first book Wicked, just so you have all the background when you get to The Prince. This is a must read!
I absolutely loved the Wicked Series and was so curious about the Prince and what happened to him after he escaped the queen. So to say I was excited for this novella is an understatement! But I couldn’t even begin to imagine how fantastic it would be. Now, if you haven’t read the Wicked Series, don’t fret. The Prince is written as a standalone, but I highly recommend you read the Wicked Series at some point; 1) Because it follows a badass fae hunter and her friends while she falls in love, discovers herself, while trying to save the human world. And 2.) Passionflix will begin filming Wicked this November! So yeah, definitely read it. You’ve got some time to get caught up…but right now let’s focus on The Prince!
The Prince picks up two years after the events in Brave and the Winter Fae attack on the order. Brighton grew up in The Order, but has always had a more unconventional job. However, after the Winter Fae attacked her and her mother, she took on the role of vigilante to hunt them down. She never expected to cross paths with the Prince. The Prince, who has remained a mystery since he was saved, is now everywhere she is. Before she knows it she’s working along side him. They are drawn to one another, and the more they try to deny their attraction the closer it pulls them in.
Armentrout did an amazing job bringing these two characters together. The chemistry between Brighton and Caden is off the charts! But it’s so much more than that. You see it in the Caden’s actions and the things he says to Brighton. It leaves you yearning for more. She packed so much into this novella! There’s so much brewing between Brighton and Caden, there’s more going on in the fae world, and of course all our favorites from the Wicked Series are there as well. She leaves us wanting more for sure, but don’t worry there will be more for Brighton and the Prince in The King!
Brighton is on a mission to kill all the Fae that were involved in killing her mother. and she’s breaking all kinds of rules stalking the Fae in secret clubs, looking for revenge. She’s quite brave and also gets in trouble, and The Prince is usually there to bail her out. She doesn’t really trust him, bus she sure is attracted to him.
And it seems like he is attracted to her. (oh yeah!)
It’s a good thing too, because Brighton is going to need the Prince to get out of her latest jam, but everything changes after he comes to her rescue, leaving both of them with a broken heart. I found myself really loving this — the emotions hit all the right notes for me.
It’s been a while since I’ve read a paranormal title from Jennifer L. Armentrout, and The Prince reminded me of all I’m missing and left me wanting to read this entire series. The Prince works nicely as a standalone and I think you will want to read the rest of this story when you are done! I did!
There’s a wonderful vibe between Brighton and The Prince, and I was really hoping that it was all going to work out for them, somehow, someway. The Prince doesn’t really end in a cliffhanger, but it did leave me wanting more of both of these characters.
If you are looking for a good paranormal romance that includes the Fae world, this might be the title for you. It’s fast-paced, has plenty of action and the romantic elements made me want more, more, more! That’s what I love about the 1001 Dark Nights series — it give the reader an opportunity to try out the series. The Prince made me want to read more of the Wicked series.
