From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes a new story in her Wicked series… She’s everything he wants…. Cold. Heartless. Deadly. Whispers of his name alone bring fear to fae and mortals alike. The Prince. There is nothing in the mortal world more dangerous than him. Haunted by a past he couldn’t control, all Caden desires is revenge against those who’d … against those who’d wronged him, trapping him in never-ending nightmare. And there is one person he knows can help him.
She’s everything he can’t have…
Raised within the Order, Brighton Jussier knows just how dangerous the Prince is, reformed or not. She’d seen firsthand what atrocities he could be capable of. The last thing she wants to do is help him, but he leaves her little choice. Forced to work alongside him, she begins to see the man under the bitter ice. Yearning for him feels like the definition of insanity, but there’s no denying the heat in his touch and the wicked promise is his stare.
She’s everything he’ll take….
But there’s someone out there who wants to return the Prince to his former self. A walking, breathing nightmare that is hell bent on destroying the world and everyone close to him. The last thing either of them needs is a distraction, but with the attraction growing between them each now, the one thing he wants more than anything may be the one thing that will be his undoing.
She’s everything he’d die for….
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.

When can I get my copy of The King? I need it NOW. This novella was excellent. There was angst, laughter, fighting, romance, and revenge. Everything you could want in a short story. Jennifer brings characters, that hadn’t had their story told, to life through her words. Brighton’s life hasn’t been goodness and roses. She’s had a lot of suffering in her life. However, she doesn’t let that stop her from seeking revenge or happiness. Brighton is smarter and tougher than people give her credit for. She is the type of heroine that I want to be. The Prince, or Caden as we learn later, has been following and watching Brighton. In this short story, we don’t exactly learn the hows and whys but we do learn a great deal about him as a fae. He feels guilty for things that were not in his control. He wants to right the wrongs that he feels he caused. Then, there is Tink. If you have read the Wicked trilogy you know how awesome this brownie is. He is funny and gets all the good lines. I was so happy to see him reappear in this story. I am so looking forward to where Brighton and Caden (and Tink) end up next!
Wow oh WOW! That was…WOW! This was an amazing addition to the Wicked series. It was fast paced, but not rushed, action packed, sexy, angsty, intense anticipation, with many OMG moments that my poor heart almost didn’t make it!
I’ve always like Brighton’s character. She’s truly grown in this story though. She’s tough, yet vulnerable, caring, loyal, and compassionate. My heart broke for her many times throughout the story.
The Prince wasn’t at all what I expected, but I am thoroughly pleased with him. He was protective, mysterious, sexy, with a dry sense of humor, and so sweet I was “awwww-ing” many times while reading.
The ending?! GAH! I need more NOW! I was NOT expecting that, but wowsers it was awesome! All in all, this was a phenomenal read and I can’t wait to read more in this series. Thank you Jenn for this ARC. This is my honest review.
This novella is such a wicked, evil tease! You can read it as a stand-alone, though for context it’s much better if you have already read the Wicked series. It also ends in a bit of a cliffhanger, so be warned! No matter what, you want to read it, and the other books set in this world. It’s too good to miss!
Fae and danger and revenge and sexy moments, oh my! Brighton and Caden are quite a pair, and their relationship is Complicated with a capital C for sure. This short trip back to NOLA and into the lives of Order member Brighton was welcome, and too short, and left me wanting so much more! I know it’s coming, but it’s never quick enough! If you like JLA, or want a new adventure to start, this won’t steer you wrong.
I devoured this novella basically in one night. Staying up later than I should have with work the next day. I love the Wicked trilogy, and getting to have more characters’ stories told was like Christmas and my birthday all wrapped up in one. The Prince was a character we hated in The Wicked Trilogy, so at the end of that one, when you knew more about him, it left an opening for more story with him. Brighton was a character that we saw around in the stories before, mainly with her mom who was a little out there due to some earlier issues. In this story, the Prince is annoying, as many times the hot guy is, but it is an attraction that grows on you, just like it does for Brighton. So that’s why the way this ends is so much of a heartbreaking cliffhanger! Armentrout is really going to have to write more with these characters for us. I’m not sure how long I can wait, or if I can wait, if there is no plans for more.
Of course one thing I really, really enjoyed was that even though our main characters weren’t Ren and Ivy from the original trilogy, we still got lots and lots of Tink! I love Tink so much, and he was still so much fun in this story! I’ll probably read any story that’s got him in it, but even more now, I need to know about the King!!!

Review:
Another great book by Jennifer L. Armentrout! I was super excited to read this one and it definitely didn’t disappoint. I was happy to see certain characters again like Tink, Ren and Ivy.
Be aware that this book ends with a cliffhanger.
What is this book about:
This book begins where Brave ended. The Queen is defeated, or you know send back to the hell hole they came from. Time for celebration right? Well think again. The winter fae haven’t given up, they are still hunting. Brighton knows that all to well.
The prince hasn’t forgotten what he did under the influence of the Queen. He remembers everything he has done. Yet he can’t seem to stay away from Brighton. There is something about her that lures him in but he knows nothing can come from it.
When some of the summer fae boys go missing, Brighton and the Prince have to work together to find them. Will they be able to find the missing fae or will they discover more than they bargained for.
What did I like about this book:
I loved being back in the fae work again. Jennifer did a really good job creating that world. I loved seeing old characters again like Tink, Ren and Ivy. Learning more about what they’ve been up to.
I really liked getting to know other characters as well I didn’t think I’d learn to like the Prince as much as I did. And I didn’t think I’d like Brighton as much as well. She’s a great character, we didn’t seem much of her in the other books, atleast not as much as I recall. And it was good, she’s a great person, really feisty and strong.
I can’t wait to see more about this world and it’s characters

5 Amazing Stars
Novellas always amaze me. Just the ability of writing a complete story and making it short seems like a lot of hard work. And a lot of editing. If I was ever asked to write a novella it would probably turn out to be trilogy, because everything seems just so important to leave out to me. Lol.
That’s why reading novellas is always exciting for me. And it’s also usually, what I call, “in-depth story”, meaning it’s either an in-between story in a series, or it’s about secondary characters. A special treat.
The Prince by Jennifer L Armentrout is a novella following the events of the Wicked trilogy, and it’s about The Prince of Summer Fae Court and Brighton, who was truly a secondary character to a secondary character in the series.
The good thing was that The Prince wasn’t overloaded with the characters we already knew from the Wicked series, but really centered on the two main characters of the novella. And Tink. Of course Tink, because without that little brownie the world of the Wicked wouldn’t be what it was. I liked how a few ( huge) things were mentioned matter-of-factly without taking too much attention away from the main story of this novella.
Likable characters, a pinch of action, some sparkling dialogs, and lots of fire made The Prince a very enjoyable read. It was well paced considering the novella was on a longer side (25 chapters, you guys! 25!!!), and I had a great feeling of finality at the end. There is a pleasant surprise at the very end and I want to squeal in excitement, but I just don’t know what it means yet!
The ending of Brave (A Wicked Trilogy #3) was absolutely amazing, but there were a few things that weren’t wrapped up as tightly as I prefer. I should’ve known that Jennifer Armentrout was only setting things up so that she could wrap up the story in typical epic fashion.
The two biggest questions I had were will the villain ever be brought to FINAL justice, and will Prince Caden ever redeem himself. Certainly, The Prince sets about answering both those questions in a big way.
Some time has passed since the final battle that brought The Order and the Summer Fae together to fight the evil Winter Fae and their queen. And, things have changed. Ren and Ivy and Tink and Fabian are in new places in their relationships. Mousy cleric Brighton is leading a double life. And everyone seems to have adapted to having Prince Caden around permanently.
The biggest change for me was my opinion of The Order. In the original three books, The Order were the good guys. Sure – there were a few bad apples that really upset the cart, but on the whole, the organization was seen as inherently good. Now though? The Order is not really on board with being a part of the solution, and as a result, they’ve become part of the problem. They’re breeding new Order members who hate ALL fae and the older members are conveniently forgetting the fact that the Summer Fae fought alongside them and gave them aid when they needed it.
But, honestly, The Order and it’s most famous members – Ren and Ivy – are secondary to Brighton and Caden in The Prince. After the final battle, Brighton was tired of feeling useless, so she’s getting out there, trying to find answers and some peace. Caden is tied to Brighton in some pretty important ways, so she finds that he’s always one step behind her, and she’s not entirely happy about that.
But, the time that she spends with Caden shows her his goodness and his empathy and his desire to be better than everyone sees him. It’s an uphill battle for sure. I remember saying in my review of Torn (A Wicked Trilogy #2) that I have never hated a villain more than him at that moment. But then, things happened, and I was forced to change my opinion. Even so, it was still hard to switch gears that fast, and that proves so with the characters in this story as well. But, trust and respect are earned, and Caden has spent every moment since the final battle trying to do that. And he’s succeeding.
Brighton doesn’t want to like him. She doesn’t want to understand him or trust him or respect him. But, come on. There’s no way any could resist this guy. He’s incredible. And I may be his newest and biggest fan.
Although The Prince doesn’t end with a cliffhanger, it does end with the assurance that Brighton and Caden’s story is not finished. Not by far. A HUGE reveal at the end of this story will take us into the next novella in this story, and I promise you, the wait will be brutal. But TOTALLY worth it.
Oh. My. God.
How can Mrs. Armentrout do it over, and over, and over again?
I’m not even kidding you guys, this novella is literally 125 pages and it engages you in so many ways that you just can’t stop reading it and you want more and more and then it ends and you don’t know what to do with your life because it’s only 125 pages and you need more, so much more.
I received an E-ARC of this novella in exchange for an honest review and it won’t get more honest than this I bet you! (I mean it probably will be honest from other blogs, but you know what I mean.)
The Prince is part of the 1001 Dark Nights, this novella is a standalone story, but if you liked the Wicked Series, then this is sort of a little treat and a set up for another great story.
The Prince gets 4.5 stars out of 5 in my review book.
I cannot begin to tell you how awesome this story is.
To tell you the truth I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy this story because I wasn’t too impressed with Brave and I didn’t know what to expect with The Prince. I mean I expected to like it just because of the description of the novella (I mean how can it not convince you to read it, it’s intriguing and just makes you want to read it right away), but I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did.
Caden and Brighton are just like my new favorite couple.
Okay so let me tell you what I enjoyed the most about these amazing 125 pages.
Brighton is the kind of character that would be annoying to some, because she dwells a lot about what happened to her at the beginning of the novella, but at the same time she has the same kind of reaction normal human beings would have it they went through a similar situation to what she went through. So it was so refreshing to see a character like her.
Also the Prince. Holy cannoli! He was just an amazing male lead. He was protective and charming and full of secrets, the kind of bad boy we all love to hate. We get to see another side of him a nice charming side that I didn’t think he would be capable of having after the events of the previous books, but he obviously and that just makes for a more amazing story.
Armentrout has created a unique story out of an amazing story and even though you would not expect a couple like them to work they totally do and that is what makes it an even better story.
The Prince is fast pace and easy to read, it engages you in every way possible and has you wanting more and more and just for Brighton and Caden to give in to each other.
The only flaw I saw with this story is just the cliffhanger. I mean the way it ends it’s just excruciatingly painful and I cannot believe that I have to wait like another year to get more from these two crazy characters.
Over all, totally recommend this story, even if you didn’t like or read the Wicked series. It totally helps you if you’ve read it so you know what the Prince has done and have kind of a background story of most of the characters mentioned in this book, but if you want to just start with this one it totally works out.
I’m a huge fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout’s paranormal series; I would happily get lost in her Lux world despite its danger, and now that I’ve been introduced to her wickedly delicious characters in The Prince, A Wicked Trilogy novella, I’m eager to immerse myself into the New Orleans’ setting and the otherworldly characters, especially the Summer and Winter Fae, who may or may not want to take control over the human world.
I’ve read several stories that have included these beautifully mysterious and dangerous creatures, the Fae, and in each one, there have always been two sides or categories of the Fae, and Armentrout stays true to that concept with added insight about what happens when the two types of Fae become blurred and it’s difficult to tell who’s on whose side because the Fae’s facade doesn’t truly reveal who and what they are and what they want.
Readers who are familiar with the series and the Prince’s actions during Ivy and Ren’s trilogy might find it difficult to trust what this new version of the Prince says and does, but it’s clear that his guilt and his need for vengeance drive him, even when he’s drawn to Brighton and she interferes with his game plan by hunting the beings responsible for her attack and her mother’s death. Through Brighton’s perspective, Armentrout allows readers to get to know the Prince/Caden and while his endgame isn’t clear, we must acknowledge that there’s something igniting between Caden and Brighton; he sees the real her…he wants the real her, and while that’s an added complication for Caden, he can’t fully tamper his desire even though his future appears to already be planned.
While I’m definitely intrigued by the Prince’s words and actions, Brighton’s transformation, her need to avenge her mother’s death, and her struggle to determine who she truly is, is what drove my reading, and Caden definitely has a hand in her figuring out the true Brighton and making her more visible than she ever thought she would be, she’s the only one who can decide why her life was spared and what that means for her future in the Order and in the fight against the Fae & their Ancients.
Even though The Prince was my first read of this series, I didn’t feel lost in its events or characters; each novella in the 1001 Dark Nights collection is meant to garner new readers, which means that the story can be read as a standalone with the hope that readers will then want to read other books from each specific author and series. The Prince is the perfect introduction into Armentrout’s Wicked world, and I’ll definitely be reentering this setting!
4.5 Poison Apples
“Being consumed with vengeance was something I never thought I’d experience, but I was knee-deep in it and I wasn’t coming out anytime soon.”
“You’re not a ghost. You never could be one, not when you burn as brilliant as the sun.”
“I saw you smile once and it was like the sun finally rising.”
Man, oh man, was it good to be back in the Wicked World again! It honestly felt like no time had passed at all. I was immediately brought back to the magical world that Jennifer Armentrout has created and couldn’t wait to see what this novella had in store for us.
The Prince is fast paced and takes you on one thrilling ride. This story might be a novella, but it certainly packs a punch. It hooks you from the very beginning and you won’t be able to put it down. You’ll find yourself devouring each and every word…
The Prince picks up shortly where Brave left off. With the Queen out of the picture, everyone is just trying to move on. But, of course, moving on and having a happy ending is easier said than done. Tragedy strikes Brighton and turns her world totally upside down. She should be dead, but somehow she is not. Now, two years later, Brighton is out for blood and has a thirst for vengeance. Her plan isn’t perfect, but she’s determined to make things right. All is going well until the Prince enters the picture. He’s got plans for his own vengeance and tries to deter Brighton. That proves harder to do than the Prince anticipated. He’s haunted by his past and fighting the intense pull to Brighton. Will Brighton and the Prince get the vengeance they both desperately seek? Can the Prince walk away from what he feels for Brighton? There’s only one way to find out….
The Prince took me on one wild and crazy ride. I loved the danger and suspense of the story. I was 100% hooked and couldn’t wait to see how Brighton and the Prince’s story would play out. From action to suspense to excellent sexual tension and a really crazy twist, this book leaves no stone unturned. The Prince left me breathless, on my toes and that ending just left me begging for more. The Prince is a fabulous addition to Wicked Trilogy and I for one can not wait to find out what will happen next.
I’ve never read J. Armentrout. I know, I know. I’m behind on the curve! The Prince is a novella in the Wicked series. I didn’t have any trouble coming in not knowing the back story, but you can be sure I’m going back to read all that came before!! Brighton is a member of The Order. Their job is to protect humans from the Fae. Specifically, the Winter Court because they are the bad ones. The Prince is one of the court of the Summer Fae. He’s pretty much a good guy. He has a special interest in Brighton which will happen during the book, but I don’t want to give it away.
This was a super story! It kept me up until 2 am on a school night and I still wasn’t done! If you love J. Armentrout, then definitely pick this one up! I’m giving the Prince 4.5 stars because I wanted to throw my book at the end. It’s pretty much a cliff hanger. Fantastic writing, though!
What can I possibly say about this book that doesn’t completely give away the entire plot? This book is seriously amazing. It is set after Brave and focuses on Brighton and The Prince. We do still see some of our favorite characters, and Tink has a definite role to play. I absolutely cannot wait for the next installment with these characters. There is action, emotion, and heart-stopping breathtaking attraction. Jennifer Lynn Armentrout has spun an amazing and gripping story, one that kept me reading and unable to put the book down! 5 stars and definitely 2 thumbs up!!
