The storyline is very interesting and I loved Magnus with is strong attitude and demeanor. Jade has so much potential but isn’t all the way there yet. I am hoping that with some of the surprises that are revealed in the story that she grows into that potential. The story itself was well written but I would have liked to see more depth in some of the explanations. It was a quick read but still very interesting. I am wondering what is going to happen next.
Jade was just dumped by her boyfriend of four years and she is miserable. She has no friends or family and had moved for him. She meets a guy and he invite her to a party. She sees a huge male that reminds her of a Viking. Sam takes her upstairs in the mansion and starts draining her blood. Next thing you know, another man is there instead doing the draining. The Viking saves her and replenishes what she lost. Gio is the first immortal, vampire, and she is in his thrall. When she received a costume, it was from a voodoo priestess. Gio will not leave her alone; Magnus the Viking wants to hire her and just plain wants her; and the priestess performed a spell to bring back her lover Isme who is also taken up residence in Jade. This all within a week of one another! What is she to do? Oh, and there is one other that reside in her…but who and why? What will happen? Who will win as Jade’s master? Will she survive Gio? Will she have any choice as to who she serves? Will she be turned? Book one ends in a cliffhanger…I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
Thea is a new author to me so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
The book begins with our lead Jade feeling sorry for herself because of recently being dumped. As a result og wanting to take a risk she accepts an invitation from stranger to attend a Halloween party.
Guess you never know what will happen when you let fate take the lead.
This was an enjoyable read.
I read a review copy.
I absolutely loved this book!!!!! I was completely hooked from beginning to end and can’t wait to read the next book. Loved the characters and as usual Thea Atkinson did a wonderful job in writing the book. When it comes to Thea Atkinson, I recommend all her books! I started to fizzle out on vampires since the majority of works focused on the vampires being pure evil abominations or swoon-worthy moody heartthrobs. I started to gradually get back on the saddle with Cecilia Mecca ‘s Bloodwite series. While Cecilia Mecca’s work left me hopeful but hesitant, Jade and Magnus rocked me off the boat into the rushing current. The moral ambiguity of The Priestess and The Vampire was a breath of fresh air from the world wind of cliches. Magnus was the ultimate anti-hero that was both appealing and repulsive. I did not think the combination was possible. Jade was a sassy, take no prisoners woman who didn’t take anything laying down.
The only issue I had with the story was the reason for Jade’s introduction to vampires. The original motive didn’t fit with Jade ‘s independent personality. Maybe if the event that caused her to first to step into the vampires’ path was developed more it would seem more reasonable)
Well, other than the issue I just stated, I enjoyed Jade’s story and look forward to reading more.
That was an exciting, scary, and tense tale! You either loved or loathed the characters. Nothing like a night out gone wrong. I don’t think anything could have gone more wrong for Jade. I can’t wait to see where this goes! I loved it!
This story was so much fun to read. Jade, true to advertised is a hot mess and I loved it. Let’s face it, vampires have been done a millions ways by now but this story made them feel fresh and different by avoiding all the usual tropes and pitfalls of other vamp novels. That inventive storytelling is why I loved this.
Shows what can happen when feeling sorry for ones self. Jade makes a very bad decision to go to a Halloween party with a complete stranger. Jade has a snarky personality which helps to over shadow the ‘poor me’ she has going at first – crying for 4 days. Really enjoyed this story and hopefully the next book will be coming soon as I NEED more.
A woman that just had a boy friend quit her to see other women. Jade had very low self esteem but was a smart ass and said yes to a stranger that she would go to a Halloween party with him. All hell breaks loose at the party and Jade meets vampires that want her very much. Life changes are quick that involves the vampires. Will she get her crap together with every thing that goes on? Good storytelling, good writing. I sure liked reading this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book.

Emotionally thrilling, action packed adventure filled with witty and engaging charters, heart racing twists and thrilling turns. A great read from beginning to end and so hard to put down. Great reading!
This was a fun, witty read. The female lead did not learn her lesson for me, but her character was okay. The storyline had some action, suspense and drama, which made it fun to read,

When her fiance called off the engagement, Jade was heartbroken. When she meets Sam at a coffee shop, Jade decides to get over her ex-fiance and agrees to go out with Sam. Since it is Halloween, Jade stops in a Voodoo shop and ends up dressing like a Voodoo Priestess. When Sam takes her out on the balcony, Jade finds someone else in front of her and he bites her tongue, then her neck, sucking the blood out of her. Turns out, Sam is a procurer for Vampires and Jade is now in thrall to Gio, the oldest. This is a fast-moving story for adults who some heat in their Paranormal romances. I definitely recommend this book.

An interesting story that introduces Jade, who thought she was going to a costume party but instead ends up at a vampire party. and thus begins her introduction to a crazy world. The story was interesting and Jade was an OK character. Had hoped she would get stronger and kick butt . Overall a fun read that kept my attention waiting to see how Jade would get out of the bad situation she ended up in. A few times I wanted to slap her but overall an interesting story and take on vampires.
And she thought she needed to recover from being jilted by her fiance. By golly that invitation by a stranger to a costume ball should do the trick. From the costume store to the frying pan world of vampires our heroine treads unknowingly. Then, trying to get out of the tangled mess she finds herself in is no easy task, but she’s got to try. Right?

3.4 star review I found the story strange not what I thought it would be Jade recently dumped has managed to get herself in a whole Lotta trouble 8n a short time with soul sucking ghost and pushy vampires and one crazy priestess. Some of the sex scenes started stopped faded out then it was suprise everyone got a happy ending the scenes felt incomplete and I can honestly say Jade needed to be shaped she was week and whiny Magnus on the other hand made the book decent hopefully the rest of the series improved Jade and made her well more kick but.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
