Former Navy SEAL Hamilton Jones thought that the love of his life was dead. But when a girl claiming to be his daughter shows up with a dire message from his wife, Ham knows he will stop at nothing to find her and bring her home.
Kidnapped by rebels while serving as an interpreter in Ukraine, Signe Kincaid has spent the past decade secreting out valuable information about Russian assets in the US … assets in the US to her CIA handler. Fearing for her daughter after being discovered as an operative, Signe sends her to Ham for safekeeping. She’s ready to give her life for her country, and she can hardly expect Ham to rescue her after breaking his heart over and over.
When Ham discovers the reason Signe has kept her distance, he must choose between love for his wife and love for the nation he has vowed to protect. Will he save the many? Or the few?
USA Today bestselling author Susan May Warren takes you on a global search and rescue mission where the stakes are higher than ever in this final installment of her popular series.

Fantastic conclusion to the series
Wow! I’ve been waiting for The Price of Valor to learn Ham’s story and also to see how all the loose ends in both the Global Search and Rescue and The Montana Marshalls series tied up. And it was everything I hoped for, and more!
While the action seemed non-stop as Ham and his team journeyed to Italy to rescue his wife, Signe, there was still plenty of romance and heart-wrenching struggles with faith. Both Ham and Signe have flashbacks to their past, filling in details that showed tragedy and deep, abiding love.
I’ve admired Ham as I’ve gotten to know this born leader with a protective nature that can’t be stopped. But I wasn’t prepared for how much more my heart would be stolen by him! It was amazing how in his (literally) darkest times he sang hymns to remind himself of God’s goodness and deliverance. Though his faith wavered, it never failed.
Signe was not difficult to love, either. I was so intrigued by her and how she ended up in the circumstances she was in! However, by the time I learned more and became a little disgusted with choices she had made to serve her country, I already liked her enough that I hoped for the best for her and that she would be able to surrender her heart to the God she had never been able to trust in the past.
My favorite spiritual lesson here was that of forgiveness. Ham had plenty of reasons to hold a grudge against Signe. Yet he didn’t take the easy road, choosing instead to seek the power of the Holy Spirit to walk the narrow path and forgive. And what a struggle it was as he learned more and more about her past. His struggle intensified and his heart was shredded.
Many of the main characters from the two series that chronicle the events that concluded here make an appearance, some in big ways and others in minor roles. As everyone began to converge, I was thrilled to see them help to bring an end to the conspiracy that had so greatly impacted all their lives.
The only warning I am including is that Signe’s life during the years she was missing from Ham’s included violence toward her that readers should be aware of if they are sensitive to that in fiction. Susan May Warren handles this very tactfully and does not go into detail – it is merely mentioned as having happened and causing the emotional scars that resulted.
If you enjoy high adventure and suspense, The Price of Valor is a book you won’t want to miss. The events in this story take place just after those in The Montana Marshalls therefore I recommend reading those first.

I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
The final installment of Susan May Warren’s Global Search & Rescue series comes to a screaming close. There are explosions, snipers, a traitor, and always the main characters are staying one step ahead of evil doers.
Former Special Forces Hamilton Jones is sure his wife is dead, but when a little girl is delivered to his doorstep claiming to be his daughter along with a dire warning, he can’t help but believe he may be wrong. Could the only woman he has ever loved have survived all these years? And if so, where has she been, and what has she been doing?
Signe Kincaid was captured by rebels while serving as an interpreter in the Ukraine. A CIA asset, Signe believes the things she has been forced to do have destroyed any chance she ever had of reconciling with Ham. On the trail of a traitor, she has no idea who she can trust, but she does know she’s on a kill list and wants her daughter protected by the only man she ever loved. Sending Aggie to Ham nearly broke her heart, but when he finds her and insists on helping, the danger stalking her nearly takes them both down. Will they be able to find proof that what she has suspected for years is really happening, or will her enemies take her out before she can expose them?
This whole series has been crazy scary, and action-packed, but wow, this final book was a doozy. I loved the emphasis on forgiveness, and I loved that every woman was an equal to her man, both in intelligence, and in their physical abilities. Warren’s books are always “MUST READS” for me, and this series proved why. Since each book builds on the one before, I strongly recommend reading the series in order from The Way of the Brave, to The Heart of a Hero, to finish with The Price of Valor. Making appearances are the Marshalls from Warren’s Montana Marshalls series, yet another of her amazing series. If you haven’t read her books and you enjoy romantic suspense, you need to add one of her series to your TBR stack.
The Price of Valor by Susan May Warren is brilliantly written romantic suspense. This novel will grip you quickly and never let go. The suspense is so vivid and never ending that it reads like a movie. It is like an epic action film. With profoundly deep characters with severe trauma, this book has incredible depth and points towards our hope in Christ. I particularly loved the crossover characters in this book, seeing some of the Marshalls appear in this book. I cannot recommend this book enough. Readers of romantic suspense will be delighted. So much suspense! I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
Characters: These poor people and their traumatic pasts. I’m glad I’m not a character in one of Susan May Warren’s books! But their traumatic pasts do make them entertaining to read about. That makes me sound a little heartless, though …
Language: Clean.
Morals: The moral I most appreciated was that the Christian life is a battle. I also liked the moral about forgiveness.
Plot: Wow! I don’t know what else to say. That plot was intense! Volcanoes erupting. Tsunamis ripping through towns. Some terrorists going nuts. I don’t get why this book is classified as contemporary romance. It should be action/adventure or romantic suspense. For the record, I’m glad it didn’t read like a contemporary romance. 🙂
Romance: Clean (mostly). There was one scene with the two married main characters that made me a little uncomfortable.
Random Comments: Signe, the main lady, was attacked by a terrorist and forced into “marriage.” I’ve got “marriage” in quotes because she was already married to Ham, the main guy, at the time and the ceremony between her and the terrorist dude wasn’t legal (or however the book explained it). Anyway, that part ventured over into too dramatic for me.
Writing: I really like Susan May Warren’s writing style. I could’ve done without some of the flashbacks, but that’s just me being picky.
Overall: I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to readers of Christian fiction, romantic suspense, and action/adventure. Probably not to readers of contemporary romance. 🙂
Note: I wouldn’t recommend this book to younger teens because of Signe’s tragic past and because that one scene got a little too romantic.
Wonderful continuation to a series I’ve come to really enjoy. Susan has such interesting plot lines, intrigue, humor and just enough “mush” to keep me reading long past my bedtime. I love the characters and how so many from different series are interwoven that they are fast becoming family! I find myself smiling at cameos from other books and wanting to “catch up” with those characters! This book finally focuses on Ham and his wife, Signe, and their whirlwind relationship that takes you all over the place. She is one amazing agent and the life she’s lived is fascinating and scary all at the same time. I’m glad I can live an exciting, adventurous life through these characters from the safety and warmth of my sofa.
The Price of Valor is the third and final book in Susan May Warren‘s Global Search and Rescue series. In The Price of Valor we get to see whether Ham gets his happily ever after.
One thing I love about Susan May Warren’s books is there is often a natural disaster to go along with the danger. In fact, of the Susan May Warren books I’ve read so far, my favorites have been the ones that included a tornado and a hurricane (the last was Jake and Aria’s Global SAR story in The Heart of a Hero (Global Search and Rescue Book #2)). I love natural disaster suspense and I didn’t see the natural disaster that occurs in The Price of Valor coming.
Ham and Signe finally have their first chance to speak to one another after ten years and Ham’s belief that his wife had died. Not only was Signe still alive, she kept his daughter a secret from him for those ten years. Until she needed him to protect their little girl in case Signe ended up dead – for real this time. Ham and Signe’s reunion is cut short when disaster hits.
To fully appreciate Ham’s story, it’s helpful to have read the first two books in the series. Much of his backstory is revealed in The Heart of a Hero. The side story in The Price of Valor revisits Jenny and Orion’s story from book one: The Way of the Brave. So all three books are very entwined, making the series wrap up in this book. However, if you haven’t read any books in Susan May Warren’s other series, you may feel like you’re missing something when side characters are referred to and that’s because you are. I have only read a handful of her books and have another handful waiting in my TBR pile, so I’m familiar enough to feel like I have a lot of catching up to do. It doesn’t take away from Ham’s story, but having read those books before The Price of Valor would have added depth, I think.
I marvel at Susan May Warren’s ability to paint a picture with words. I could truly see Ham and Signe as they escaped disaster or fought off people trying to kill them. And, without giving anything away, I feel like the ending of The Price of Valor is rather satisfying. You’ll have to give the series a read and let me know if you feel the same way.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from JustRead Publicity Tours. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC guidelines.
I loved how Warren wrapped up so many plot points neatly, but understandably.
A thrilling and satisfying conclusion to the Global Search and Rescue Series!
I went into this book knowing that I would love it, and I wasn’t disappointed. Hamilton Jones has been a supporting cast member, and friend in the previous installments of this series, so I was thrilled to finally get to read his story, which began in the background of the earlier books in the series, or if you go back even farther–he makes an appearance in a companion series also by this author. So to say this was a long time coming would be an understatement.
I loved amazing characters and strong sense of tension throughout, Ham is determined to do everything he can to give his newfound daughter a home and family. Ham has a lot of experience in a tight situation, and is more than willing to go to great lengths for his daughter and former love. I also really loved how prominently featured many of my favorite characters from previous books are featured, and if you have read as many books by this author as I have, than you will recognize more than a few familiar faces. Ham is a loyal friend and hardworking, he has held onto his faith through many tough things, I I like how he encourages his teammates and friends.
Overall, a fantastic read and satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, with great characters, strong faith and shocking revelations. Nearly impossible to put down, with a very climactic ending. Highly recommend!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This was a fantastic end to this series. It’s chock full of exciting moments and heart pounding scenes. It was fun seeing the crossover characters from Susan’s Montana Marshalls series be part of the book. The story moved well and was hard to put down. I had to keep reading to see what happened next. There were a few surprises along the way that kept me guessing. I also really appreciated the faith elements Susan wove into the story, Ham and Signe had a lot to overcome and I enjoyed how their faith helped them do that. This a compelling and exciting read that I definitely recommend!
I received this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
This story is an adventure from the beginning. I have really been enjoying this series and getting to read how they interact with each other. I do think it would be good to read the books in order so you become familiar with the characters. The author does an excellent job of reacquainting two people who have had a strained relationship. Navy Seal Hamilton is one tough person. He takes his job seriously and his daughter’s safety a high priority. The relationship he has had with the mother of his child is not exactly happy times. Ham has wondered what happened to Signe and if it is possible that a secret is being kept.
Signe I thought was a great character who was doing everything she could to keep Ham and their daughter safe. She is one person I would want on my side if I was going into harms way. Without giving away too much, let’s just say that the author explodes on the pages with secrets, deceit and danger at every turn. Can Ham and Signe forgive each other and work together? This has to be the best book I’ve read by this author. She takes risks and makes them work while using faith at the perfect times. Ham and Signe are center stage in the story with intense emotional moments that define their relationship. If you are wanting to read a story that has action, danger, surprises and a lesson on forgiveness, then grab a copy of this book.
I received a copy of this book from Revell Reads. The review is my own opinion.
“The Price of Valor” by Susan May Warren is the third book in the Global Search and Rescue trilogy. While I believe this one can be read as a stand-alone, you’ll care a lot more about what happens to the characters if you’ve read the first two books. A new-to-the-series reader could absolutely follow the plot and enjoy the story, but I felt much more invested in the outcome based on having read the series in order.
This volume focuses on the relationship between Ham and Signe, which has been teased in the first two books. I was thrilled to see their story taking center stage in this one, as enough hints had been dropped earlier to make me eager to learn their backstory, as well as to see what would happen in the present. I was not disappointed! Both characters are well-written and realistic, and their interplay (and issues) make perfect sense based on what the reader knows about each of them. To avoid spoilers, I won’t go into any further details, but suffice it to say these two experience an exciting and intense storyline!
As a fan of the series, I was happy to see a few chapters devoted to Jenny and Orion as well. Aria and Jake got a couple of mentions, as did other Search & Rescue team members from earlier books.
This book is action-packed! It opens with the team on location in Italy for a mission. Just in case the actual mission wasn’t exciting enough, there is a volcanic eruption followed by a tsumani. Of course the team leaps into action to help with the disasters. The descriptions of Italy, both natural features and man-made edifices, were detailed enough to allow the reader to “see” everything without bogging down the story.
Back in the states, the action doesn’t let up. There is plenty going on with Signe’s situation, and some loose threads regarding White (a friend-of-the-team) are addressed.
In terms of the Christian element of the story, Ham’s faith is bolstered through conversations with old friends and new acquaintances. Signe’s spiritual journey was more dramatic, as she grew up with little faith of her own, and has further to go. Both were beautiful examples of how God reaches out to people in their daily lives.
Natural disasters, political intrigue, spycraft, and relationship drama…”The Price of Valor” has it all! And Susan May Warren is equally adept at writing about all of these aspects.
Five out of five super-thin slices of perfect Provolone!
Whew… what a way to end a series. But that is what I love about Susan May Warren’s books. They engage you fully, from your thoughts down to your actions. You can be consumed by her writing.
As this series comes to a close, Susan May Warren chooses to awash us in a battery of action-packed pages, faith-filled moments, and the promise of a second chance. I have personally been looking forward to Ham’s story from day one; I mean who wouldn’t be curious about a guy willing to go over a cliff for his friend? Well, Susan May Warren leads us on a merry chase to learn Ham’s story and she introduced us to Ham’s Wife and Daughter as well. The characters were well done, I loved their interactions with each other and the somewhat over the top action on every page. While this story was not how I picture Ham’s story taking us it was interesting and a conclusion for the ages. I am truly sad to see this series end, but I am looking forward to the next book Susan May Warren writes.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars for the action-packed moments, the theme of second chances, and for making me want more! I do wish that there had been less going on in the story and that we could have seen more of the main story. But overall, it was good, just left me with more questions!
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.
I had tears in my eyes while in the last pages of this story. It was so beautiful and captivating. God’s love and grace illustrated in the pages of this book was so overwhelming and enriching.
I felt Signe pain with her, her story was just the highlight of this book. Vet relatable and true. Ham’s heart and love was so touching, kind and sweet. A man of honor, a warrior who always went back for and after those he loved.
Orion and Jenny’s lives was second chance in its finest.
Meeting the Marshalls again was so exciting and thrilling. They brought their signature fearlessness and camaraderie into the story.
The faith lessons in this book are so apt and pictured like I’ve never seen before. Page after page was action, suspense, intrigue and a lot of game.
Susan May Warren is indeed a master at action and romantic suspense books.
I received a copy of this book from Revell and this is my honest opinion.
I have been waiting for Ham and Signe’s story since this series began and I am very happy to finally have closure. It did not come without heartache, and the why’s, and the seriousness of their situation- but it came in spite of all of that.
Author Warren certainly puts her characters through the ringer. Yes they are heroes and spies and secret agents, but wow. And when you throw in a fractured family and a love that is determined by strength of will to forgive all wrongs, then prepare to hold on to your reading seat. Sometimes I just wanted to shake some sense into Signe, for her past choices and for the choices she was continually making that seemed like she just did not learn her lesson. Ham was such a hero and his love for her, his daughter, and the driving tenacity that he had as he strived to get the life he knew he wanted with them both.
This was a good third book in this series. Not only do we get Ham and Signe’s story, but also closure for Orion and Jenny. And that was another tearjerker for me. Every time author Warren writes a new series, it becomes my new favorite.
I received a copy of this novel courtesy of Revell publishers through Interviews and Reviews. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
The Price of Valor follows the story of Hamilton Jones. As a kid, Ham’s best friend was the girl next door, Signe. Through a complex set of twists and turns, they end up married but living apart, and Ham believes her to be dead.
Not only is Signe alive, but she has a child–Ham’s child. Ham’s got some big feelings about missing the first 10 years of his daughter’s life, but more than that, he wants to make this marriage work.
You know how most of us have been indulging in a little shelter in place television escapism? Well, my drug of choice on the screen is NCIS. The original and the spin offs. Well, when I was reading The Price of Valor, it was every bit as action packed as an NCIS episode. This isn’t a fluffy love story. This is a suspense tale, and it kept me on the edge of my seat.
Longtime readers will appreciate cameo appearances of characters from other Susan May Warren books. If you’re just coming on scene with this series, you’ll appreciate that we get more time with Jake and Aria, and your heart will ache when Jenny drops a bombshell on Orion in this book.
The Price of Valor starts out exciting and mysterious, which I loved, but also depressing because of the ruined marriage between Signe and Ham. It felt hard to continue reading past the first chapter until it got more upbeat in the second chapter with a marriage proposal. After that, I finished the book very quickly because of the intriguing plot and mysterious clues.
There are a lot of ups and downs with several relationships in this novel. It made it more interesting to see realistic fears and worries about each person’s romantic feelings.
I received a free copy of this book. All opinions are completely my own.
I received an ARC from Revell, which I voluntarily read and reviewed. Thank you to Revell and Susan May Warren for the opportunity to be in the early reader group! Susan May Warren has become my favorite romantic suspense author! The first time I picked up one of her books, I quickly realized what I had been missing and proceeded to binge read the whole series! The Price of Valor gave me all the feels. It was just like picking up my first Susan May Warren book all over again! It grabbed me from the opening scene, and I had to know the rest of Ham’s story and the mystery of his wife. Plus, there’s nothing quite like revisiting the relationships of previous characters and getting a glimpse into their present lives. I love how Susan weaves their stories together. The Price of Valor had all the right elements. If you love action, romance, and a story with heart, then definitely add The Price of Valor to your TBR list!
Warren does not disappoint with this one.
The much anticipated Hamilton Jones “Ham” finally fills the pages of this series finale. This story is appropriately titled as Ham wrestles with defending his country and protecting his family. He battles the elements along side Orion and Jenny, will he, will his heart survive this journey? You’ve got to read it to find out. It is soo good and so worth it. I don’t want the series to end!
Oh and if you’re a Warren fan and looking for what ever happened with the Marshalls and Ruby Jane … you’ve got to read this! If you haven’t read the Montana Marshalls yet, start there!
I was provided an advanced copy of this title in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
I would not have wanted to be on ECG or an EKG while reading this book. My heart rate was all over the place as the suspense was building in this wonderful story. What I love about Ham is that he does not give up on anyone. You see that especially here and you find out why. I love his drive and compassion. He has learned a lot about forgiveness and grace and how it is a continual process. He is a man that people will look up to and follow because he is not looking for praises. He has become one of my favorite heroes.
I received this book from the publisher and the opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Ham and his story about his daughter and missing wife begin in earlier books so we finally get to discover what happens to Signe and why she is always running away from Ham and her family.
Throughout the book we get glimpses into Ham and Signe’s life and relationship. This story had non stop action, drama and heartache. I read this book in one day because I didn’t want to stop reading and I had to find out what was going to happen next!
I loved how all the characters from previous books were mentioned at the end of the book as this series comes to a close. I highly recommend reading this series in order to get the full benefit of character development and their individual stories.
I have been reading Susan May Warren’s books for many years and every time I think her books and series can’t get any better-she proves me wrong! You will love this series!
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
