What a wrap up to an awesome series. This is Ham’s story and a wrap up of the series. We get to delve into Ham’s relationship with his wife, whom he had thought to be dead for 10 years. Such an example of God’s love and forgiveness in this marriage. Also how, with God’s help a young boy dealt with rejection and abuse and came out on top. I love books with heroes who show the love of God in their daily lives. This book, especially the last chapters, will keep you on the edge of your seat as Ham is joined by characters from other books and a mystery is solved that left you hanging in another series. Start with book one and read this whole series. I believe you will love it as I do. I received an ARC from the publisher with no requirement for a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
The Epic conclusion to the Global Search and Rescue series. Susan May Warren hits the nail on the head with the finale to her latest series. While some of her storylines don’t always hit home. This one in particular had a secondary story line that will hit home for many. Underneath the main story line despite it’s twists and turns of monumental proportions, lies the true heart of the story for both Hamliton Jones and Signe. You can’t help but feel for Signe as more and more of her past is opened up. I definitely have to say if you have followed the story of the Montana Marshall’s you are not going to want to pass this book up.
The Price of Valor
by Susan May Warren
Book 3 in the Global Search and Rescue series
Rating: 4.5/5
Release date: October 6, 2020
Susan May Warren never disappoints! If you need some romantic suspense and mystery in your life, read this book! I highly recommend reading the first two books in this series before reading this third one because you’ll understand so much more. I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary but you’ll be better acquainted with the characters and the background.
Hamilton Jones and Signe Kincaid grew up as childhood sweethearts but life and their careers took them away from each other. When Ham realizes that his wife is alive and they have a daughter, he knew nothing would stop him from trying to find out the truth. Signe is a CIA operative who’s been in deep cover for years and hopes to save some lives including her daughter’s. Ham is hurt and angry and trying to build a relationship with his daughter who he missed growing up. He desperately wants to believe and forgive Signe for all that she did but he is unsure. Can he trust his wife or will he lose everything he’s sought to protect?
The author has a couple stories going on at once – which is why I recommend reading the other books so you can get more background on the other couple. The story deals with disasters near and far and I always enjoy how everything comes together at the end. The author is so clever in her craft and I can’t wait to read more from her.
Throughout the book there is a message of faith and forgiveness. Signe feels so much shame for her past and finds it hard to accept forgiveness. She and Ham both have lots of baggage from their pasts and while Ham stayed faithful, Signe had strayed without Ham there to guide her. I can only imagine the psychological ramifications of maintaining a deep cover while keeping oneself relevant and sane. Compartmentalizing becomes your friend. I love when authors deal with real-life issues in an organic way.
I also loved seeing characters from other series that the author has written. That was a lot of fun!
I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of romantic suspense and high stakes espionage.
My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.
” [She] Got into trouble. And I got her out of it. That’s what I do. I look out for people. I help them. I don’t sit on my hands and wait. I find them and bring them home.” -Hamilton “Ham” Jones
Goodness gracious. This book. THIS BOOK. I was on the edge of my seat from the first line and turned page after page, heart a pounding, anxious in all the best ways and completely enthralled as the story unfolded. Susan May Warren has a way of creating characters you can’t help but love. Love even when you find yourself frustrated with them. Ham is a character that was originally introduced in Susan’s “Montana Marshalls” series and who’s story has intrigued me through books one and two of this series titled, “Global Rescue.” It doesn’t get much better than Ham. What a godly, honorable, faithful and faith-filled man. Getting to know him, seeing how his painful childhood experiences shaped him into the incredible person he is, made me love him all the more. His commitment to his wife was moving. Signe. Oh, Signe. Wow. Talk about getting dealt a lousy hand. Seeing parts of Signe’s childhood and the ten years prior to this story brought me to tears. She was a broken young women, but brave. I can’t imagine going through what she had been through.
The secondary storyline allowed us to “see” more of characters, Orion and Jenny from book one, The Way of The Brave. I was surprised by Jenny’s storyline and heartbroken for her brokenness. Her choices in the past are something that haunts her in the present. Her journey toward learning what it truly means to be forgiven in Christ was beautiful.
Readers of the “Montana Marshalls” and “Montana Rescue” series will recognize familiar and beloved faces. I absolutely love the way Susan connects all of her stories and worlds. Such fun – it was like a Susan May character family reunion. I loved the plot that originated in the “Montana Marshalls” series – we finally, FINALLY get closure on Isaac White and Reba Jackson (Glo’s mom). WOOT WOOT! What a breathtaking ride, “The Price of Valor” was. Don’t miss this incredible book. Hamburgler and Shorty forever. Happy sigh.
The Global Search and Rescue series from Susan May Warren goes out with a bang… a ka-boom… a ka-plow… and a whole lot of action for the entire team. The Price of Valor focuses on Hamilton Jones; we finally get Ham’s book and learn more of his story. I love the way Warren writes her fiction as the story of what God does in the lives of Ham and the people around him. These characters, our GSAR family and friends, build each other up and support each other when things get hairy… and things get hairy in The Price of Valor, for sure!
We learned in The Heart of a Hero (Global Search and Rescue, book 2) that Hamilton Jones has been reunited with the darling daughter his wife Signe kept secret from him. Now he is more convinced than ever that Signe is alive and he is determined to find her, to bring her home, to redeem her to the family they could be together. The choices he has to make are unenviable, and the lessons in forgiveness and redemption are more easily said than done.
With her trademark realism and frank conversation, Warren handles the struggles we all find in the depths of our human hearts and the truth of our Savior’s love, grace, forgiveness. She calls out our own confusion through the struggles of her characters, who tend to feel (like we all do sometimes) that the battle is ours. When we, and they, are tempted to believe that our responsibility is to BE Jesus, we’re refocused and reminded that our responsibility is to SHOW Jesus. Her characters may have much greater adventures than I do, but their struggles and lessons they learn are very relevant.
Thank you to Susan May Warren and Revell for allowing me a copy to read and review. Please know, dear reader, that the opinions stated in this review are my own and are completely unbiased.

Susan May Warren outdid herself in the third installment of her Global Search and Rescue series, The Price of Valor. And even though I have loved all of Warren’s books, this one is by far my favourite of the series. Here, we finally wrap up the loose ends created in the first two books and delve into Hamilton and Signe’s story. It is one of heartache, fear, struggle, but also enduring survival. Ham is the ultimate hero, and Warren exquisitely crafted this character to ensure he would grip your heart.
The Price of Valor is the perfect blend of action, suspense, romance, and character development. With high tension moments expertly balanced by soul searching dialogue, this book easily holds you captive. You will definitely want to read the first two books in the series before this one, but this third book most definitely tops them all! I could rave on an on, but my best advice is for you to pick up this series for yourself.
I received this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
There’s one twist and turn after another in the third and final installment of the Global Search and Rescue series. It’s full of heart stopping action that will keep you turning the pages long past your bedtime. The Price of Valor focuses on Ham Jones, the leader of the team, and his search for his long lost love, Signe. There’s international intrigue, tender family moments, and the over-arching love story with Signe that has spanned decades. And what a love story it is. I’ve liked all the male characters in this series, but in the end, Ham really does shine. His faith is so strong and the love he has for his little girl, for Signe, and for his team is what makes this installment so very good. Some familiar faces from previous books make an appearance, which I always enjoy, and the mystery introduced in the Montana Marshalls’ series is finally resolved. It’s a riveting conclusion that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. I received an ARC for review, but I’ve ordered a copy to add to my Susan May Warren collection.
Price of Valor has as thrilling conclusion. Just when you think Susan May Warren can’t possibly get any better she does!
This is a must read. Seeing the heart breaking story of Ham and Signe is a real heart jerker. Little Aggie is adorable and starts to really come into a personality of her own as her parents struggle to figure out their own lives.
Seeing Orion and Jenny and their continuing story is an added benefit along with Jake and Aria. Seeing other favorite characters throughout the book only add to its appeal. It a definite must, but be ready for a fast ride that drops you and then lifts you again. You will not be able to put it down.
All I can say is”Wow”!! If you want a fast-paced suspense story with a touch of romance and faith – this is the book for you!!! Ham (Hamilton) Jones is a former Navy SEAL and is now the leader of a Global Search and Rescue Team. Ham is the kind of guy who always wants to fix things but when he discovers his wife is actually alive – and may be in trouble – he is afraid he may not be able to help her in time. This story has wonderful settings, international intrigue, spies, and enough twists and turns that you won’t know who is telling the truth until the end!! This is the final book in the series but it is also a stand alone read. I received an advance copy from the author and publisher but all opinions are my own.
This is the third and last book in the “Global Search and Rescue” series. The main character of the first book was Orion Starr. Jake Silver was the main character of the second book and now this book’s main character is Hamilton Jones. All three guys appear in all three books in some way which is why I would definitely advise you to read not only all three books, but definitely read them in order. This series has seen action from the very first book to the last; however, I feel that the action has been building meaning the second book had more action than the first and this book has more action than the second. Susan May Warren does an excellent job of creating her characters, their lives and backgrounds as well as the fictional world in which they live. She does such a good job of describing everything that I have no problem picturing myself right in the middle of the story. If you like action-packed and mysterious novels, then you will love this one.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in order to give an honest review.
“She didn’t know what was more dangerous – the tsunami or the unforgettable pull Ham had on her heart.”
The Price of Valor is the perfect conclusion to Susan May Warren’s Global Search and Rescue series. Readers who enjoy action-packed, adrenaline racing novels filled with a plentiful amount of romance will love The Price of Valor.
The Price of Valor takes readers on an intense journey to Italy and back to the States while former Navy SEAL Hamilton Jones and his SAR team’s mission takes an unexpected turn into political intrigue and danger as he fights to save his family and his country. Get ready for a dangerous, action-packed, wild ride to romance.
Fans of Susan May Warren’s Montana Marshalls series may have wondered about a specific storyline that was not completely wrapped up at the end of the series. Much to the delight of the Montana Marshalls fans, The Price of Valor answers those questions. While The Price of Valor COULD be read as a standalone novel, there are some secondary storylines and characters featured in the first two books in the series that continue to play a role in this novel.
Therefore, I do recommend reading this series in order, and it is also helpful to have read the Montana Marshalls series to get the maximum enjoyment of all the storylines and characters from both series. The Montana Marshalls is my all-time favorite series of hers, so happy reading!
The Price of Valor is highly recommended for readers of action-filled contemporary romance. This is definitely a book that will enjoy a place on your keeper shelf, and Ham will undoubtedly become one of your favorite Susan May Warren heroes! The Price of Valor is guaranteed to be on my top 10 list of books for 2020.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
“Because Ham was a patriot, right down to every cell in his body, and if he knew what she knew, he’d have to risk being a traitor to the country he loved. The country he swore to protect.”
If you are familiar with the books of Susan May Warren, you know that she is master writer of suspense-filled tales. This series begins with The Way of The Brave, where the former pararescue jumper Orion Starr is learning to live a life outside of the military. Orion has physical challenges since his injury and is now in Alaska where he hopes to recover in more ways than one. In the second book titled The Heart of a Hero, we meet again Jake Silver, who served as a Navy SEAL and whose romantic life might just lead him into danger once again. Now, in the third book, The Price of Valor, the audience gets to see deeper into the character of Hamilton Jones whom readers got glimpses of in the other books.
Hamilton has lost his wife and now he is faced with raising a child on his own but first he must rescue her. With all his training as a former SEAL, Hamilton must bring his daughter to the U.S. and out of harm’s way. While it sounds easy, there are more twists to the rescue and his past will keep readers turning pages until the very end.
With some series books can be read alone; however, with the intricacies of this book, I highly recommend reading the prior books first. Susan has written an edge-of-your-seat, heart-pounding and thrilling book to end her latest series! If you’re looking for books that will captivate you, entertain you and end with hope, look no further! I highly recommend Susan May Warrens books for those who love a good adventure with a little romance and endings you won’t soon forget. Enjoy the wild ride and share with family and friends the Global Search and Rescue books as they make great gifts.
‘She recognized his SEAL voice–cool, detached, the one that got business done.’
Sometimes you read a book and you are just completely stumped as to how to write a review worthy of said book. This was such a book. Truthfully, all Susan May Warren’s books are much the same. I come away from them changed and not wanting to pick up another book until I’ve digested this one because it remains in my heart, vibrant and alive, long after the last page is turned.
‘Forgiveness is the currency of heaven.’
Warren brings us the third book in her Global Search and Rescue series with Hamilton Jones’ story, the founder of the group. It can be read as a stand alone, but to really experience it, you truly should read the series. Ham’s determined to find his wife Signe after being left with a ten year old daughter he didn’t know he had. Signe is CIA and determined to not be found. Thus begins a story that will move you to the core of your being. Both Ham and Signe were hurt tremendously as children and formed a deep bond as they cared for each other. Now, they must once again help each other and they try to overcome all that has passed and find their peace. Ham is a man of action, a man who pushes right ahead to rescue and save those he loves. Signe, too, has great strength of character and resiliency.
”He didn’t do ‘sit around and wait’ easily. Not when someone he loved needed him.’
Susan May Warren writes with such such depth of heart that my own heart is left incredibly moved and deeply impacted by her words. The spiritual themes here pack a giant wallop and left me in tears many times during the reading. I truly do not have adequate words to describe how powerful this book was. My heart is just too full. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
*My thanks to Revell Publishing for a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinion here is my own.
The Price of Valor is book two in Susan May Warren’s Global Search and Rescue, and this series does not disappoint. Susan May Warren knows how to build characters and storylines in such a way that you become invested in the characters she introduces – cheering for the heroes and hoping the bad guys get caught. In this story, Hamilton Jones is trying to protect those he loves, including his long lost wife, Signe Kincaid, who doesn’t want to be found, much less protected. Is Signe a traitor or a hero who has sacrificed everything for her country? Can Ham protect his daughter and his wife? Pre-order your copy today! I always look forward to the next book in one of her series, and The Price of Valor didn’t disappoint.
I received an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley, but the review is based on my own feelings.
You know those books you’ve been waiting for since you first read the first book in the series?
Yeah, this is one such for me. And, I loved it. But, I didn’t.
See, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew that there would be a depth of story behind Ham and Signe, I did not expect it to be all of what it was though.
After the seven books that led up to “The Price of Valor” I am not sure if it was just that there were so many things happening or if the ending really was all too sudden tying things up at a crazily fast pace.
While I do enjoy Susan May Warren’s books, I have loved her past books, however, there were things in “The Price of Valor” that pulls it down to three stars. The ending wrapped up too quickly, after most of the book being filled with several shock factors. Signe was taken prisoner which we knew in the other books, what we did not know is that she was raped by the man who took her prisoner, had her and Ham’s daughter, and Signe was forced to marry the rapist, or be killed because of his sick beliefs who thought her daughter was his, she was raped many more times and had the bad guy’s son. The bad guy sent her son away and she ended up having to rescue him in the last chapters of the book. Technically, Signe was married to two men at once but she wasn’t really married to the bad guy and it’s just plain confusing! It also came out that Jenny from book one, “The Way of the Brave” had an abortion.
There were some other shock factors that I won’t go into since they are not as bad as those under the spoiler, though there are warnings in the spoiler area.
I loved how Ham would not give up on his wife, and forgave her. Pointing her toward God even when he didn’t really trust her at moments. The redemptive message in “The Price of Valor” was sweet, and I really enjoyed seeing them heal from their past hurts and abusive childhoods. Seeing Ham as father was so sweet, he went from the strong warrior to the softest guy in a matter of a word.
I would have loved to see Ham with his sister some more because that was wonderful! And, I now really want a book about Pastor Dan, because that guy was so awesome in his preaching/not preaching to Ham. He needed more than one scene!
Due to the content mentioned in the spoilers, I can’t say this is a book for anyone under 18 unless they are very mature.
I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher/review company. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
I thought the blurb of this book was really interesting and story itself was great. but I did feel that this should really be labelled as a faith-based romance as well as romantic suspense. If you are not religious, I am not a believer in religion myself, you may struggle to get your way through this book, even though the story itself is first-rate.
I hadn’t read any of the other books in the series or books by this author so I did kind of fall in blind and that’s my own fault for not researching better. However, I don’t feel that I got lost in the threads from the previous books, I soon had everyone and all the plot lines lined up in my head.
Ham may be a former SEAL but he is also a man of strong faith. When he thought his wife had died, he did his best to go on without her, serving his country. But he later finds out that she is not only alive, but also carrying out an in-depth assignment with a terrorist group. But there is an added extra he didn’t know about – their daughter!
Now he’s trying to make a new and safe life for his daughter, catch up on the years he missed and try not to hate Signe for what she had done.
Signe’s been rumbled and she is now on the run with a NOC list. But she has also been branded a traitor by the very group within the CIA she is trying to unveil. Now the only person who can help her is the very man she ghosted! She knows he’ll keep their daughter safe but will he rescue her?
This pair were childhood sweethearts, next-door neighbours and married early. That’s obviously had an effect on their other relationships, not always romantic Losing that kind of love as Ham did was very damaging.
I did find the undercover mission of Signe’s unbelievable – no undercover assignment I’ve ever studied would generally be sustained that long, especially when there was a child involved! Whilst it did have a great background story, I just felt so bogged down by the faith aspect. It did become a bit “preachy” if I’m honest and I did struggle to enjoy the book as much as I do others in the RS genre.
Book three of this series
A good story can be a stand alone but does continue story from other ones
With plenty of action and natural disasters
They had to try and keep his wife safe and discover who was the traitors his wife was CIA and he was ex military
Really well written and believable was a exciting book to read hope there will be more
An Amazing Suspense .
