Love the twisted plots and nature of the author’s writing
Great storyline
Fast paced, mindless fun. Too neat an ending, too quick to bury the issues brought up by killing the characters off. Would’ve made a better v1 of a series of books with different people trying to tackle the discovery in different ways. Still, Tigner’s writing (editing?) is getting better, so worth a quick read.
Loved this story
Unusual ending
As most people yearn for eternal youth they don’t consider the consequences. This book reveals some thought provoking questions to the result of not aging.
Be careful what you wish for–especially if your wish for immortality. Eight different characters have different views on the idea before and after they take a magic elixir. And yes, they all change–for the worse. The killer in the group seems to have no more motivation for killing his fellow Immortals than they have to kill him, but by the time only three are left, his identity is pretty much a foregone conclusion. Reaching that conclusion and considering the really “bad guy’s” near invincibility, the premise gets a little lost in the action. The last murder by the Immortal villain simply does not make sense, IMO relative to how and when, but the author keeps the story moving so that bump isn’t one to throw the book against the wall. The ending is underwhelming but the perfect portal to Book 2 in the series. This one was a quick easy read, but I’ll probably pass on the next book. Not that the author will miss my purchase; he is very popular.
Tim Tigner does an excellent job of creating realistic yet unique premises for his books. The premise of The Price of Time is truly outside of the box and makes for a refreshing new approach to a thriller. He keeps the pace moving and makes you wish the plot was real!
Tim crafted a truly original, pulse-pounding thriller with The Price of Time. I highly recommend it.
Good writing.
Not quite what I was expecting at first, but proved to be one of the most memorable books I have read.
What is the thing the world seems to want most? It was discovered by a small group of mensa scientists. Then they realize they can’t use it as planned but have a better idea. This book is incredible from A-Z. Must read starting today!
A plot twist I never expected. Fast page-turner. Smart thriller. Loved it.Tim Tigner
This was a good read and a fascinating premise. What if you could be one of only about 10 people who has access to a medication that, if taken once a year, stops the aging process? You could still die from an accident, suicide, or homicide, but your body would not host cancers or diseases of aging. Sounds perfect? Maybe not. If, after discussing possible future over-population and other issues, you and your fellow “immortals” decide not to allow anyone else ever to know the formula for the medication, what do you then do with your life? What would you do when you have looked like you were still thirty years old after 40 years of being thirty? As I moved through the story, it becomes almost bizarre, and certainly there is violence and a subplot. I could not guess how it would end. To paraphrase the poem, it did end with a whimper, not a bang (kind of). But it was a wild ride, and the ending was not a cliffhanger; loose ends were tied up. I picked up this book because it sounded like a time-travel tale; it is not. But I did like it, and I love the idea.
This is the first Tim Tigner book I’ve ever picked up, and by the time I was a hundred pages in, I knew I was in for a ride. Exciting, mysterious, simmering with danger and action, The Price of Time has reeled me through its pages.
Every time I’ve sat down to read for “just a few minutes” I find myself engrossed by Tigner’s ability to weave intrigue, and also by his ability to balance the meat-and-potatoes of the thriller genre–car chases, murders, and shadowy organizations–with a sprinkling of philosophical naval gazing.
I have to draw extra attention to the “philosophical thriller” label given to The Price of Time, namely that it is completely apt. It would be easy for the headier elements of the book to derail the plot, but it’s a testament to Tigner’s ability that they don’t.
