“I’m the fixer your board hired to clean up your mess.”“So you show up here, break into my house, and take a bath?”Emily Stanton’s perfect life just became a disaster. She has a trust fund brother looking for a handout, a father who is more board member than dad, and a mother who thinks she should give up on this whole billionaire CEO thing and meet a man with a pre-nup and a yacht. Oh, and then … meet a man with a pre-nup and a yacht.
Oh, and then there’s that “misunderstanding” with law enforcement witnessed by Miami’s paparazzi. Now her billion-dollar deal is on the line, and there’s a naked man in her bathtub who claims he’s going to make all her problems disappear.
Charming—and happy to bend the rules when necessary—Derek Price has made a living polishing the tarnished images of the rich and famous. He’s never lost, and he never takes clients to bed. Until the dazzling Emily. Derek promised her a win and offered up a lifetime supply of orgasms as part of the deal. But if he can’t stop her enemies, he’ll end up losing much more than he bargained for.
Author Notes: An enemies-to-allies-to-lovers workplace romcom with a meet-nude, four lady billionaire BFFs, a hero whose many talents include styling hair and picking pockets, the best dang drag queen brunch in Miami, and a shameless romance novelist cameo.more
I could not have loved this book more. The characters are wonderful, there’s passion, romance, intrigue, and a delightful and ceaselessly loyal group of friends. Also, an alligator with a prosthetic leg and a foul mouthed parrot. I can’t wait to read more of this series.
Bluewater Billionaires or Vagillionaires as Emily and her friends call themselves. Love the strong empowering relationships between these ladies. With their crazy enclave and even crazier pets. First up is Derek and Emily. Because of a drug scandal Emily gets bad press so her companys board hires a fixer aka Derek Price. She doesn’t return he’s calls so what does he do? No spoilers you’ll gave to read it yourself.
LOVED it!!! LOVE the Billionaire GIRLS BFF’s and EVERY SINGLE THING about this book!!! Foul mouthed foul!!! 3 legged gator, “the knight in shining armor”, THE SCIENCE!!!!! LOVED the science!!!
If the rest of the books in this series are as good a this one I’ll be very happy. I love the whole premise of the female billionaires here, strong heroines are sure to follow. And Emily was wonderful, especially in the lab setting. Derek was able to break through her crazy workaholic persona and get her to realize what was most important. And I loved all the side characters (esp.Jane). Great world building for the eclectic Bluewater community too. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this group
Great start to a new series. This is a fun twist on the Billionaire romance genre where the female protagonist is the Billionaire. Emily Stanton is from a wealthy family, but she started and runs a successful cosmetics company. When she finds herself in the middle of a potential scandal right before her company’s IPO, the company hires fixer Derek Price. There is great chemistry between the two leads, with lots of steam thrown into the mix. I loved the relationship between Emily and her fellow Bluewater Billionaires as well. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
4*
Emily is head of her company making many break throughs in skin care.
Derek can’t believe his luck out on a boring date he witnessed Emily & her escort been arrested.
She needs him but will she accept his help.
Emily sure gives him a ride I loved her true self and all she stands for.
Derek wow his personality and way with words we all definitely need one of him.
I love this book and can’t wait to read Daisy & Luna’s story.
I have read Cam’s book “The mogul and the muscle – Claire Kingsley “
Definitely recommend reading them both.
I loved this role-reversal story. Hell yeah, women can rule the world and the companies. Emily and Derek were such great, dynamic characters. My favorite thing about Lucy Score books is her ability to always bring the laughs, the small-town vibes (even in Miami) and the heart. This kickoff to the Bluewater Billionaires was awesomeness.
Lucy Score’s non-stop hilarity beging sith Emil and Derek, and their ‘meet-nude’! Derek has been hired by Emily’s Board to get her past a social media nightmare.
Even though Derek has all the tools he needs for this job, he keeps getting surprised one step behind as things keep occurring to show Emily’s company that they can’t have absolute faith in her.
Derek is almost head over heels for Emily after day one, but Emily is having the hardest time tring to decide whether or not she can trust him.
The fun, sexy times are OFF THE CHARTS yummy, and the suspense had me reading faster so I could flip to the next page already! An excellent jumping off point for the BlueWater Billionaire series!
Well, it’s official. I’m on a Lucy Score binge. And honestly, this one surprised me because I was never a big fan of billionaire romance. Given the state of income inequality, the only way I wanted to read about billionaires was if they were being roasted and served for dinner. Or so I thought. Turns out, I wanted to read about driven and successful women who had reached that status. I loved reading about Emily, brilliant scientist and CEO, and her crisis PR manager, Derek Price. They had amazing chemistry and it was truly fun to watch the romance unfold among corporate espionage. Emily’s three best friends, plus her personal assistant/ninja Jane, are great secondary characters who I look forward to reading about in future books. Lucy Score has an amazing ability to create colorful communities that surround her main characters, as she did in the Blue Moon Bend series. Here, it’s the Bluewater community where Emily lives near her three best friend and fellow real estate developers. I love that both worlds are filled with quirky (to be generous) neighbors and that the settings become their own characters. It makes it a real draw to revisit when you get to see what Steve or Frank are up to (no spoilers here—you’ll have to read the book to meet these characters). The other books in the four-book series are by other authors and I’m looking forward to all of them.
Things you generally get when you read Lucy Score:
• A page-turning story
• A setting (usually a fun community) with a fun cast of characters
• A stitch in your side from laughing
• Explosive chemistry aka Steam for Dayyyys
Add in a fierce chemist with a girl gang and all the drive in the world, and a swoony Brit with sticky fingers, and you get the Price of Scandal. I loved this story. The plot was original to me, and the world that is built for these characters keep you wanting to come back for more. This is a must read.
What a fun book to read! This is book 1 of a 4 part series. Set in FL with 4 lady billionaires. You feel bad for the leading lady as she gets embroiled in a scandal not of her own making. Then her board hires a firm to clean up her image. The sparks fly starting with a naked man in a bathtub then the hilarity ensues. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!
I loved this role reversal of Emily being the billionaire as well as being super smart. When the Bluewater good girl gets into trouble, through no fault of her own she needs Derek to help smooth things out & help improve her image. There is some back stabbing & sabotage going on that Emily is unaware of within Emily’s company & the board of directors hire Derek to figure everything out. I loved Emily’s group of friends too, how they support each other and help problem solve. I also loved that Emily is involved with STEM, helping girls enjoy science as well as doing experiments. Emily is someone that I found is fascinating, I wasn’t sure if I could relate to her since she is a billionaire but I totally could. This was a great first book in the Bluewater Billionaire series and I am looking forward to reading the other 3 books in the series.
Emily is a seriously amazing scientist/entrepreneur, who needs the help of an image consultant when things go awry.
I laughed so hard at the meet-nude with Derek.
This story contains amazing friends, espionage, intrigue, Emily’s dysfunctional family and Derek’s loving family.
Their relationship builds with such a sweet intensity that I couldn’t stop myself from swooning.
*** 4.5 Stars ***
The Price of Scandal by Lucy Score, the first book in the Bluewater Billionaires series, is a contemporary, forced proximity, workplace, romantic comedy told in first person, dual POV. This series takes the billionaire trope and reverses it so that instead of the typical billionaire hero, all the books feature billionaire heroines – four smart, strong, powerful women who are also best friends.
In The Price of Scandal, we meet Emily Stanton, owner/CEO of Flawless skincare and co-founder of the exclusive Bluewater community. Emily is hardworking, kindhearted, beautiful, and generous. A brilliant scientist and tough businesswoman. When she innocently gets caught in a public scandal that threatens Flawless’s chances of a successful IPO, the board of directors hires professional fixer, Derek Price, to clean up her image. Derek is clever, shrewd, gorgeous, and unpredictable. After a naked “meet cute” with air-crackling chemistry, Emily’s not thrilled about having a babysitter, but can’t seem to get rid of him.
Have they each met their match? Is somebody out to sabotage Emily and Flawless? Will Derek succeed in saving her public image and the IPO? Read and find out!
I loved Emily and Derek’s story! They were both great characters – well-developed and loveably flawed. Their witty banter is lots of fun. Emily’s security woman, Jane, is hilarious too. I’m looking forward to getting to know Luna, Cam, and Daisy in the upcoming Bluewater Billionaire books. The story was flirty, fun, and highly entertaining. A recommended read!
Lucy Score brought the the women of “Bluewater Billionaires” to life in The Price Of Scandal, and Emily absolutely set the show for the others to follow. Between a workaholic female that has the no time for life, and a man that lives life on his on terms, comes a romance written to burn down your Kindle, and use up every tissue in the house. Lucy weaves a brilliant story that kept me engaged until the last word was read, and had me downloading the bonus epilogue before I could get any sleep. I can’t wait to read the other stories in this series. I’d give it more than five stars if I could.
Gorgeous, Billionaire, Work-aholic, Geeky, CEO -Emily Stanton meets Hot, English, Crass, Cocky , Fixer – Derek Price in the most hilarious meet-nude.
I Love that The Price of Scandal is reverse from the standard “billionaire boys club”, giving Emily and her group of Billionaire girl friends, the female perpective of being rich, smart and gorgeous amongst the men in the corporate world. Loved all the strong woman in this story but also the fact that Lucy kept Derek’s character strong/alpha at the same time. Derek’s only weekness, I feel, is Emily.
One of my favorite characters is Emily’s tough/comedic body guard/driver – Jane. Hoping she gets a story someday. 🙂
I really recommend this story, I love that it is above the norm, and Lucy never dissapoints with an amazing story and HOT/SEXY chemistry between the 2 main characters.
Can’t wait to read the other 3 books in the series from Claire Kingsley, Kathryn Nolan and Pippa Grant. This is a wonderful new trope idea for this amazing Bluewater Billionaires series. LOVED IT!
Just wow!!! What a great start to what I know will be a great series of these Billionaire Beauties. Emily is a strong independent woman building her empire. There is always someone who wants to knock you down.
Derek is just the guy the owner of Alpha Group he is hired to clean up her image. Swoon worthy with a accent, big heart and awesome family.
You will laugh out loud, love and cry. True friends that have your back through it all. Can’t wait to read more.
I received a advanced copy for a voluntary honest review.
I was completely DAZZLED
I wake up every morning at around 5:00 just to get an hour’s reading time in before work. When my alarm went off at 6:00, I had 27 minutes to go. Do I rush to finish? – OR – Do I put it aside and do my weights and stretches? I’m sure most of you would think I’d rush to finish, wouldn’t you? Well, my lovely friends, I’m shocked to say it…BUT I EXERCISED INSTEAD!! I know, completely shocking. So shocking that I advised hubby that I might be sick. But, there was a logical reason for my decision. For starters, exercising is good for me (it’s taken me a LONG time to admit that). Secondly, if I did the rush job, I would be rushing the high and this book was so BLOODY GOOD and I didn’t want to rush that feeling. Thirdly, if I rushed it, then I’d HAVE to write my review straight away and it would be rushed…and I would then be harried…late…stressed…a mess…which would take away my high.
The Price of Scandal was everything I hoped for and more. The characters were interesting, the storyline kept my attention from start to finish and the romance was exactly right for Emily and Derek. This story takes us on Emily Stanton’s journey from Scandal to happy ever after.
I absolutely loved that the Bluewater Billionaires are the heroines of the story. It was made even better by having a supporting cast made up mainly of successful women. Now, these successful women are not all corporate high-flyers. Their successes varied from leading a company, to security/protection, science, law, IT… mixed with successful trophy wife-ing, fraudster-ing, sabotage-ing and being a HUMUNGOUS B-I-T-C-H. This story wasn’t all about women stamping their feet and demanding equal rights, this was about women just doing it. Getting in there, working their butts off and controlling their destinies. I LOVED IT…if you hadn’t cottoned on yet.
Derek Price was the perfect match for Emily. He’s extremely arrogant and egotistical but I absolutely loved the way he did it. I’m a wee bit of a sucker for a man who has confidence and demands respect. When Emily faces a scandal, Derek offers his services to clean up the mess and put her reputation back on track. Well, he offered his services when he finally had her attention…when he was naked…in her bathtub…
Emily, her best friends Cam, Luna and Daisy, are a great bunch of women that I absolutely loved meeting. They all have very different personalities but are extremely loyal to each other. I also loved Emily’s driver/security, Jane. I know there isn’t a book dedicated to her because she’s not a Bluewater Billionaire but I’m kind of hoping for a spin-off to give me more of the stun-gun toting, Jane.
It’s a good thing Emily has such great friends because her family is an absolute waste of space. Her father is probably the best of the bunch but even he made my eye twitch. Such selfish people that did not deserve Emily’s support and consideration. To be honest, such horrible family connections made Derek even better. He was everything that Emily’s family wasn’t by being supportive, loving and protective. We also get to meet Derek’s family and I loved their easy acceptance of Emily.
If you’re looking for something a little different, don’t mind a chuckle, can handle a few ups and downs, and like your hero and heroine to be equally strong and confident (in their own ways), I highly recommend giving The Prince of Scandal a try.
Lucy Score, you have brightened my week with your wonderful story and I can’t wait for your fellow authors to introduce their Bluewater Billionaires, to me.
Another winner!!!
Just when I think Lucy’s books can’t possibly get any better, she raises the bar! This book, these characters, the promise of the next three books – I absolutely loved all of it. Emily is strong as steel, yet she’s got some flaws that need a little adversity to overcome. Her friends are awesome, Jane is my spirit animal, and I really loved how things worked out with her family. Emily: “Rock bottom was nothing but a foundation. And I would rebuild. But this time, it would be the life that I wanted.” And Derek. Oh, Derek. He got Emily’s attention from the very first second, and he never let her push him too far away, even when she was wiggling as hard as she could go. Derek: “She wasn’t soft or pliable. Emily Stanton was a challenge. A razor-edged, high-walled challenge. And there wasn’t anything in this life that I enjoyed more.” They are the perfect balance, and when they finally come together, it’s HOT. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Lucy Score book without a little bit of funny. Nobody else can write a talking parrot named Frank who antagonizes a disabled alligator and make it realistic, but Lucy does t so good! I loved the cameo of all four authors, such a clever addition to this book and (I’m sure) the three to come. I would totally hang out with the vagillionaires every single day! Thanks, Lucy, Claire, Kathryn and Pippa for yet another amazing community of strong, beautiful women.
