“I’m the fixer your board hired to clean up your mess.”“So you show up here, break into my house, and take a bath?”Emily Stanton’s perfect life just became a disaster. She has a trust fund brother looking for a handout, a father who is more board member than dad, and a mother who thinks she should give up on this whole billionaire CEO thing and meet a man with a pre-nup and a yacht. Oh, and then … meet a man with a pre-nup and a yacht.
Oh, and then there’s that “misunderstanding” with law enforcement witnessed by Miami’s paparazzi. Now her billion-dollar deal is on the line, and there’s a naked man in her bathtub who claims he’s going to make all her problems disappear.
Charming—and happy to bend the rules when necessary—Derek Price has made a living polishing the tarnished images of the rich and famous. He’s never lost, and he never takes clients to bed. Until the dazzling Emily. Derek promised her a win and offered up a lifetime supply of orgasms as part of the deal. But if he can’t stop her enemies, he’ll end up losing much more than he bargained for.
Author Notes: An enemies-to-allies-to-lovers workplace romcom with a meet-nude, four lady billionaire BFFs, a hero whose many talents include styling hair and picking pockets, the best dang drag queen brunch in Miami, and a shameless romance novelist cameo.more
“My client was a motherfucking genius, and if she kept smiling like that, I was going to have a problem not falling hard for her.”
Truthfully, I had no clue was I was getting into when I decided to give this new-to-me author a chance. I’m so effing glad that I did. I floved this story HARD. How different it was to read about female billionaires for a change. How awesome those females are. I’ve got a serious girl crush. And not for one of the quirky, hilarious billionaires. Nope, it’s Jane that won me over, she’s badass.
Emily is a workaholic to the extreme. That’s how she built her empire and she’s determined to keep it in spite of a scandalous mistake that has put it at risk. She tries to keep her ducks in a row at all times. Living up to everyone’s expectations and keeping her reputation pristine is important to her. When the media jumps to the wrong conclusion and blasts her the fallout endangers her company.
The very last thing she expects to find when she gets home after the worst day ever is a sexy, naked man in her bathtub. While I personally consider that as a bad day getting better, that’s not quite how she saw it. With her life already out of control, he was just one more thing to add to her stress, especially when she learns why he’s there. Let me tell you, that’s a scene that I will not be forgetting soon. I was laughing out loud and you could not have pried my Kindle out of my hands at that point.
Once you start reading and learn about Bluewater and its residents you are going to be as addicted as I am. The Price of Scandal might have started out as too high, but I’d be tempted to create some of my own for a delicious ‘fixer’ of my own. I can’t wait to see why kind of trouble the other women get into in the future installments. The line forms here…
This is Lucy Score’s best so far and that’s saying a lot because I adore her books!! She makes me laugh, gets me in the heart with all the emotions and usually has something perfectly ridiculous happening in her books!
I loved Emily and Derek!! Emily is a badass billionaire CEO with a crappy family and although she is amazing and puts on a brave face, Score expertly shows her loneliness and vulnerability too. Watching Derek fall for her and try to figure her out while protecting her heart is the perfect swoon!
This book was so well written with great characters and seamless story line, hilarity, hotness and love!! ANd the girl tribe is just one more aspect I love in a great romance. Emily’s friends were wonderful
I would say I’m excited to read the next book in this series by Claire Kingsley, but I already devoured it and it was fabulous too! Now I just have to wait for books 3 and 4!!
Finally, finally, finally a female billionaire book! This is book one in the Bluewater Billionaires series. Yes, this book as well as the other three from three other authors (Claire Kingsley, Kathryn Nolan and Pippa Grant) can be read as standalone. What a refreshing and unique way on a troupe where generally the hero is the one with the billions.
If you have read a Lucy Score book, you already her knack for rom/com but also with some angst thrown in for good measure, TPoS is no exception. If you’re new to Ms. Score will you’re missing out hopefully this review rectify’s that notion.
Emily Staton is a hottie nerd, running her billion dollar company. She’s driven and a workaholic. You may not like her at first, but there are so many layers to Emily that if you don’t read carefully, you will lose sight that she’s really a force to be reckoned with. Until one ill-fated date to make her image more engaging before her IPO goes public that things goes bad and she’s in need of a “fixer”. And whom, might that be you ask? That would be Derek Price in all his gorgeous, blue-eyed, Brit service.
Oh I love me a cheeky half Brit with a past time for lifting wallets, but truly is good at his job as a image consultant. What he didn’t expect was to fall head over fir the smart, take no prisoners CEO that needed her hair down beside the image makeover.
Emily can always count on her three other billionaire friends, Cameron, Luna and Daisy to ground her. Let’s not forget her quirky rich neighbors, the prosthetic leg wearing alligator, the swearing Macaw and the horny dolphins.
You don’t need blood relatives when you have good friends that I mentioned above and whose books are next. But let’s talk about the secondary character that Ms. Lucy always writes and readers like myself wants more of, and that would be her driver/bodyguard Jane. We all need a Jane in our loves, stun gun or not.
Lucy Score never disappoints in dealing the laughs and thought provoking moments. I cannot wait to read Cameron’s book by Claire Kingsley.
True to form, The Price of Scandal is captivating, humorous, original, steamy and lightly suspenseful masterpiece by the incredibly talented Lucy Score!
The Price of Scandal is the first standalone in a 4 book collaboration of amazing authors and tells the story of Emily Stanton, powerful CEO, secret science nerd, workaholic billionairess, who lives in Bluewater community in Miami, an exclusive neighborhood designed, build and managed by herself and her 3 best friends – Luna, Cam and Daisy, all fellow billionairesses.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book from one of my fav authors. Lucy’s hilarious and it’s great to see a FMC billionaire! The cast of characters is hysterical and I adored the tension between Emily and Derek. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
This was my first Lucy Score book, and I was not disappointed. This was a fantastic rom-com with a little mystery. I love Emily and her friends and I look forward to binge reading this whole series. Derek is such a great character with so many layers. I loved reading the push and pull of their chemistry. Great read!
4 Bluewater Stars on Goodreads
The Price of Scandal is the first book in the Bluewater Billionaires series by Lucy Score. I did this a bit wrong and read the fourth book the series as it was by one of my favourite authors Pippa Grant. When I realised it was a series I decided to go back and check out the other books in this series. It was my first read from Lucy Score and she did not disappoint!
Emily Stanton has the perfect life, well looking in from the outside that is. She is a CEO of her own company, she is smart and beautiful and also a billionaire! One date for public appearance has her in jail and a scandal she can’t afford on her hands. Enter Derek Price, the fixer, great at this job he is out to prove he is the man to fix Emily’s problems. But along the way he can’t help but fall for the woman.
“Do you still steal?” A smile flickered across his face. “Only when absolutely necessary,” he said, slipping a hand into his suit jacket. Oh, God. “Is that my father’s…” “Wallet. Yes. It seems he left it behind. Pity.”
“You, Emily Stanton, are one-of-a-kind. It would be a damn shame if you waste one more second of pretending to be something you’re not to make someone else more comfortable. Be yourself in all situations. Wear your red lipstick into the lab. Address your board in kickboxing gear. Take a day off. Cut your damn hair when you feel like it. You’re in charge. And you’re going to win.”
These two has such great chemistry and was a pleasure to read their story. My only issue with this book was I knew a mile off who the “Badie” was, it was plain to see from near enough the start. But that aside a very enjoyable read and I will defiantly be picking up more of Lucy Score’s books.
I love the series concept of billionaire women, and this heroine is so well-written and believable. I loved everything about it! I’m working my way through the series and loving each one.
Clever book about a billionaire CEO and the image consultant who is called in when her escort to a charity event is found to have found with drugs in his car. As Emily and Derek work together to restore her reputation before a schedule IPO of her cosmetics company everything that can go wrong seems to and the sparks fly between them.
Funny, witty, family drama, kickass best friends in a beautiful neighborhood the women designed.
This book is fantastic! I loved the supportive female network of friends and how women empowering this book is!!
Emily is a successful CEO who is a badass in the boardroom and an unapologetic nerd in the lab. Her enthusiasm in the lab scenes and that she mentors young girls interested in STEM warms my heart because I love the idea of a main character supporting future women in STEM.
It is a lovely and entertaining story in the fantastic Lucy Score style and I am so looking forward to reading the other books in this series.
Loved Emily and Derek!
Another slam dunk in this series! I am LOVING these Bluewater Billionare books. So much funny banter between the H and the h.
Someone once told Emily Stanton’ “honey, you know how to rock a scandal.” For a woman who has always avoided controversy and bad press to be involved in not one but two scandals is an unprecedented nightmare. Enter one Derek Price (in the most unorthodox fashion.) He’s a fixer, a crisis manager, an absolutely drop dead gorgeous man who takes over her life both personally and professionally. He sees the real her behind all her assorted masks and allows her to just be Emily. Not only does he like that woman he adores her. Emily is slow to trust, slow to let him in and even slower in acknowledging her feelings.
original idea the woman is the billioniare! but the H is no sloush he is hot and an alpha highly recommend this book!
This was fantastic. Hands down. Derek Price is the most perfect catnip of a hero and the end involves some of the best comeuppance in a book ever. Two thumbs up and a double squee cannon salute!
Lucy Score, had out did herself with this brilliant piece of writing.
Finally, a series about a women who are billionaires!
The writers of this series, are absolutely brilliant on their own, but together, I have no doubt they are going to be our minds.
Emily Stanton, is a brilliant entrepreneur. She built her billion dollar company, Flawless, from the ground up.
When her board of investors thinks she needs to be more visible in the public eye, she goes on a date.
Her close friend, who’s been with her since she built the company, sets her up.
When things go sideways and she’s accused of doing drugs, the board hires a company that is designed to fix her reputation with the public.
Derick Price, owns Alpha Group. A company that can turn the publics perception of a person around.
Emily, is planning on taking her company pubic with stocks, offering up $1 billion in shares to the public.
She needs to have a good relationship with the public to be able to do this.
As Derick works to reinvent her persona. People are working to tear it down.
The women of Bluewater are the most quirkiest billionaires I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.
I love Linc and Mackenzie alone and together. Mack is so much stronger than she gives herself credit for. They are both heroes who put their lives on the line every single day. Mack faces incredible hardships but, still manages to rise from the ashes of what is left. She not only survives but, she is so much stronger than before. Linc is so much fun and always joking but, he is all in when it truly counts. They bring out the best in each other.
I felt so many emotions!
I laughed and cried so much while reading this book. I can’t thank Lucy Score enough for writing it! I have been going through a rough time and have not been able to get interested in reading. Pretend “You’re Mine”, “Finally Mine”, and “Protecting What’s Mine” hooked me from the very beginning. I was able to lose myself in these stories for a few hours.
Emily Stanton a genius biochemist lives on the beautiful island of Blue Water. The island her and
3 friends built and own. It is just for gazillionaires as they say. Emily runs her billiondollar
company called Flawless. She has been setup on a blind date who had drugs in the car she was
going to a gala in. The hot fixer Derek Price is hired to turn her image around to the squeaky
clean persona she showed to the world. The attraction between Derek and Emily was steamy.
The usual suspects from other books in this series include Frank the dirty talking parrot,
Steve the 3 legged alligator and Brutus the 170 pound dog, plus her 3 best friends. Derek has
a prestigious reputation and promises Emily to fix all her problems. But his biggest problem
is falling for her. I love the way he looks after her and woos her the book has lots of laughs
and fun characters. This is a great series of books. I recommend the Blue Water books.
My first Lucy Score book, but not my last! I really wasn’t sure what to expect, but the blurb was so funny I couldn’t pass It up for a much needed laugh. And I’m glad I didn’t, because it was hilarious! I loved that neither main character had a typical background, and that they weren’t cardboard “rich people” but characters with heart and soul and personal quirks and hilarious senses of humor. The storyline had unexpected twists and I didn’t see the conclusion coming. This was a delightful read.
The Price of Scandal by Lucy Score is the first in the Bluewater Billionaires books, a series of four standalone novels each penned by a different author in a shared world/friend group. The premise is refreshing and delightful – flipping the script of the billionaire trope and making the women the billionaires.
Lucy Score is a new author to me (though one that has been on my TBR for a while now) and I was delighted to finally dive into one of her books. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I had high hopes that were absolutely met and then some with this book.
Emily is a brilliant, innovative, level-headed woman; not only is she a science nerd, data enthusiast, negotiating champion, and business strategist extraordinaire, but she’s also got a remarkable sense of humor and a true drive. I loved the Emily was so clearly smart but didn’t fall into the “genius who lacks the ability to interact with other people because intelligence is incompatible with social engagement” trope. It’s one I truly loathe, especially since in business or academia, social skills are incredibly important (it doesn’t matter how smart you are if you can’t convince people to follow your leadership or sell them on your ideas or negotiate with them).
Derek, on the other hand, is no billionaire but is equally brilliant in his own field. He’s less scholastic in his brilliance and more street smart – incredibly observant and one who learns from his own experiences and watching his others. He’s also got a slew of offhand skills that make him incredibly compelling (Haircut? He can do that. Pickpocketing? Check.) and that’s not even to mention just how secure he is in his masculinity.
Emily is embroiled in scandal after a date gone wrong and a big IPO for her company is coming up. Enter Derek – a professional image rehab specialist there to repair her image to make sure the IPO doesn’t flop. The more Derek spends time with Emily, the less his interest in tearing down her walls and finding the authentic woman behind the public front is about doing his job and the more his interest is driven by his own personal desire for her.
Emily and Derek were perfect for each other – Derek truly cares about what Emily really wants out of life and is determined to help her get it and Emily finds herself trusting him in a way she trusts no one else. As their bond grows, so does the thicket of scandal around Emily and it takes real teamwork for the both of them to get the HEA they want.
I really appreciated the attention to detail in this one; we weren’t just told Emily was an amazing scientist, we were SHOWN. Specific things she was working on were discussed which was super cool. Not to mention, the double standard and struggles women in STEM face was directly addressed. Honestly the only thing I didn’t love about The Price of Scandal were small things – like “semen” actually being used in a sex scene or the hero’s British accent being demonstrated almost exclusively through the excessive use of “love” and “darling”. Nothing that really changed the story or how much I enjoyed it, just small things that didn’t line up with my preferences.
Overall The Price of Scandal by Lucy Score is a fantastic start to the Bluewater Billionaire series and a great introduction to Lucy Score herself!
