The Price of Honor is an amazing read! It follows a complicated man with an even more complicated family. Oren Demetri is not the ordinary “perfect in every way” hero people are use to. He is a complicated man with a dark history. If you love his story like I do, continue reading the Infidelity Series. He has a major role in it and you will grow to live him even more!!!
My dear friend Aleatha is re-releasing one of her personal favorite stories; THE PRICE OF HONOR is quintessential Aleatha: hot, dark, and haunting. It’s a nail-biting thriller wrapped around an epic love story, and it’s one you don’t want to miss!
The Price of Honor was one of my most anticipated reads. We were introduce to Oren in the Infidelity series and he was such a complex character that his story needed to be told. I am SO glad Aleatha gave it to us!! The Price of Honor is beyond an epic love story. It’s about true love and having NO limits for the ones you love. I was truly memorized by Orens life and everything he went through. It was so much more than I ever expected. I now have a new found respect for Oren. This book left me with a broken yet mended heart. Aleatha, Amazing job!!!!
*You do not need to read the Infidelity series to read this book. This is a complete standalone book!
I have so much more respect for Oren Demetri – no pun intended. Throughout the Infidelity Series we got to know him through Nox’s eyes as a cold, driven man. Learning the back story to his life with Angelina and their choices made him real. For all the bad, there was also so much good and he loved with his whole heart.
I have been Aleatha’d Once again!
This is Oren’s story and it is fantastic! You don’t have to have read the Infidelity series to read The Price of Honor, but you should because it is awesome as well. I loved it and whole heartedly recommend it.
This was a fantastic read. I love the characters and storyline. It was very engaging
WOW!!! This was a masterpiece of words on every page Oren Demetri made so many sacrifices and choices in his life that brings on so much pain that it will literally gut you, you will feel every single thing these characters feel and have gone through so much heartbreak and love Oren and Angelina have endured but this is family and sacrifices are willing to be made until they cant be and they have given so much that it hurts. It is a beautiful love like no other and not forgetting whats important to you.
I had a preconceived notion of Oren Demetri having listened to Lennox (Nox) story. To me he was a horrible father and husband that’s how Nox portrayed him.
After listening to this book I have to disagree with Nox. His fathers fault was he fell in love with a needy woman, got involved with a demanding family, got in to deep trying to please all concerned. Yes in name he owned his own business, but in theory he wasn’t his own boss. He was under the Costello family’s thumb.
As a result Oren lost so much, Lennox especially, and his wife.
You can be assured that when you read this author’s books, you need to carve out enough time of your day to read because you won’t be able to stop. This is one of those books!!
What a stunning masterpiece!! An epic mafia tale, full of drama, suspense, intrigue, love, deception, family loyalty and values – gritty, raw and violent – its one hell of an emotional rollercoaster, completely enthralling, I loved it with a passion!!
Oren has always been a bit of an intrigue for me reading the Infidelity series, so I couldn’t wait to get a hold of this. This can definitely be read on its own, as this is all about Oren , his story of how and why he is the way he is, and of course his family – Nox and his mum Angelina.
This is just one of those books you have to read for yourself to appreciate the absolute mastery at work here. You only get glimpses of Oren in the Infidelity series, nothing can prepare you for his life’s story. The love he felt for his wife and family, but being in that family means you have certain obligations whether you want them or not.
An intense, emotional, thrilling and epic ride, one you need to read without a doubt. A masterful 5 star read!!
Have you read any books by Aleatha Romig? If your answer is no, why not? You should. If your answer is yes, then you will know when I say if I did not know the author of this book when I started reading, I could make a good guess who the author was by Chapter 2. Her books are always captivatingly written, painting you a picture with finesse and knowledge to put you in the story, as if you were sitting right there watching quietly from a corner. The Price of Honor is yet another magnificently written book from this author. It is an epic story of one man’s life from young child to adult…the making of a man. It is a spinoff book from the author’s Infidelity Series (not about cheating!). The Price of Honor follows Oren Demetri’s rise to power as founder and head of Demetri Enterprises, his personal life and his involvement with the New York Mafia via family ties. It is dark, gritty, emotional, complicated and everything one comes to expect from an Aleatha Romig book. You do not have to read The Infidelity Series to read and enjoy The Price of Honor, although having read the series myself, I found the story tie-ins really enjoyable. I personally loved this character in the Infidelity Series and my heart only ached for him more reading The Price of Honor. I will honestly say there were parts of this story that I did not enjoy, but to say more I feel would be spoiling the book for others. If you enjoy Mafia stories, powerful men and insights into their lives, grab The Price of Honor and enjoy!
I absolutely loved RESPECT-“The Making of a Man.” I loved, cried and hurt throughout this s
tory. I wasn’t sure if I could even write this review–without more tears. RESPECT is an emotional ride that is worth every tear I cried. Even hours after I closed this book- Oren hasn’t been far from my thoughts. He has been permanently embedded in my heart and soul.
I sat in awe and tried to process every piece of this story that took my heart.I wanted and needed more; my only solace was Oren would be back in the Infidelity series.
Aleatha has made me love all her alphas. Tony Rawlings from Consequences stole my heart from the moment we met. My heart fluttered the day I was introduced to Nox Demetri from the Infidelity Series. Malcolm (One Night) and Duncan (Plus One) warmed me with love. And Jacob (The Light Series) showed me there was always more. I have a special place in my heart all of her characters.
But nothing, nothing could have prepared me for how much love I would have for Oren Demetri from RESPECT. Oren ripped a piece of my heart and left a gaping hole before he refilled it with not only love but RESPECT.
Oren believed in RESPECT, not only to receive but to give it. A man of his word–loyal to a fault. He is passionate, and his only desires are to love, protect and care for those who he cares.
RESPECT is a must read!!! Aleatha has a talent of few. Her words touch you –every key stroked and words typed is a labor of love. Thank you for this journey–it will forever live in my heart.
I won’t lie. I didn’t read the synopsis of this book. It’s Aleatha Romig, so I just naturally read it. I will always read anything she writes. For some reason, I had a scenario in my mind what this book would be. However, I was more wrong than I was right.
I was scared going into this book. Aleatha has said over and over in her promos for this book that it can be read as a standalone. Based on what I assumed I would get from this book, I wasn’t sure that was possible. I was wrong, again. This book does completely stand on its own. If you haven’t read any of this series, have no worries about reading this book.
I knew that I was going to get to see the side of Oren Demitri that I knew existed. I had seen some of it towards the end of the series. So to see what made him who he is is a real treat. I couldn’t have imagined the struggles he went through to become successful.
If you are expecting a lovey dovey story, just lose that thought right now. It’s raw and real. Aleatha did a wonderful job getting into his head and telling a truthful story about how a boy became a man and the sacrifices he made, along with the repercussions of those sacrifices.
This book isn’t just about how Oren became the man he is in the Fidelity series. It’s also gives us more insight to Nox and Silvia, and their bond. This is about how the family became what it is in the original series. I am very pleased that Aleatha decided to give us this story.
The Infidelity series is one of my top reads so I was beyond excited to see we were getting Oren’s background story. This wasn’t the twisted I’d come to expect from Aleatha but it was a harrowing tale of divided family loyalties; of a man who was trying to be the best that he could in a world he was never truly part of. My heart just broke for Oren and the troubled relationship he had with Angelina due to the pressures demanded on his time by the Costello’s whilst trying to make a name for himself in order to provide and keep safe his wife and child. It was a beautiful love story of two kids who met in college, felt love at first sight then met years later and got married still feeling the spark that was ignited in college.
I’ll admit, I didn’t much care for Oren in the Infidelity series, he was always the pinnacle of hate for Lennox and was portrayed to be a neglectful and absent father through Lennox’s eyes. Here we see how the relationship between Oren and Lennox broke down. My heart just bled out for Oren and my feelings have completely done a 180. I completely fell in love with Oren; I could feel the strain and torture that troubled him everyday. There were so many other characters that we briefly became aware of in the Infidelity series, it was great to get to know these in greater detail too. Aleatha writes with feeling, with passion and with depth. She brings her characters to life and we truly see the story through their eyes.
Told completely from Oren’s POV the book completely took over my life for a couple of days I was that absorbed in to the world of the Costello’s and the Demetri’s that the world could have ended and I wouldn’t have known! This truly was the making of a man!
You don’t have to have read the Infidelity series to read this, but I think it does compliment this book as it explains certain events in greater depth. A must read!
If you have read then Infidelity series then you have met Oren and Angelina. Oren is Nox’s Dad and he always interested me because I knew there was more to him then what we saw. He had so many more layers and I loved discovering more about him. I think this will be better for you if you have read that series but I can see it as a stand alone.
This is all about Oren’s struggle to build his empire and his story about his love for Angelina. Oren worked so hard and sacrificed so much for respect and his wife. I think some choices were right and some were so wrong and along the way the respect aspect took over and just might have been the downfall. The turmoil, the heartache, and the brutal truth behind everything. It’s another Aleatha Romig masterpiece and one you should not miss, especially if you have read the Infidelity series.
If you have boxes, this checks them all, Aleatha never ceases to amaze me.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
This story is filled with love, heartache, pain, heartbreak, and death. You will laugh, cry and in the end, you will be left in awe.
This is Oren Demetri’s story, there were small glimpses of him in the Infidelity series but here we learn what Oren went through and gave up for family and love. From seeing Angelina in a college class to marrying her and raising a family with her. But he was always building his empire and doing what The Costello family needed him to do. The Costello’s was Angelina’s family and being part of the mafia in the New York area, when the family called, Oren had to go. But at what cost does he leave his wife and son at home.
Angelina knows what her uncle and cousin are and what they do. She doesn’t want to know but she knows. She doesn’t want Oren to be a part of it but he can’t say no to the family even if it is her family that he married in to. When Lennox comes along, both Oren and Angelina want him to have a choice in his life, not to have him pushed into the family business.
Oren must pay the dues from his company to keep Lennox away but he knows it will cost him his family at home to some extent.
How far will Oren go before it becomes too much? Will Angelina accept that Oren will always go when her uncle and cousin call him? How will his absences affect Lennox as he grows older?
I knew once I started reading this one it was going to rip me to pieces. It has taken me most of the day to get my mind right to write this review. Aleatha Romig has a way of pulling you into a story and not letting you go until you have been wrung out completely. But in the best way possible, her stories are full of twist and turns that will keep you on the edge until you reach the end and think, “How did she do that?”
So if you are looking for a fantastic story with all of the feels and then some, read this one and then read the Infidelity series (not about cheating), I promise you will not be disappointed. I loved everything about this story.
**Wicked Reads Review Team**
This was not a typical romance. There was no happy ending. It was tragic and sad.
Good story but writing was difficult to read.
Just so-so. More words devoted to incidentals than in developing any suspense. Makes it easy to skim.
There were things I liked and things I didn’t. I loved the story. It spans 30 years and I think it was well written and flowed well. Although it was slow, I was reading with anticipation, wondering what was going to happen and what turns the story would take. What I didn’t like was Oren. I found him to be…disappointing. I did like that the story is told from his POV.
