There’s a monster in my basement. That isn’t a metaphor, in case you were wondering. And it isn’t the tagline to some midnight horror flick. Fact is, Locryn Price is nothing if not a monster. One part human, the other part demon, the guy’s got a slab of ice where his heart should be.Ironic, considering the rest of him is hot enough to start a fire underwater. Not exactly what I was expecting to … exactly what I was expecting to find when I came home from college to surprise my brother. I mean, I always knew Russell was a little warped, but now we have a pissed-off, wisecracking demon in shackles and chains as proof.
The October winds are stirring, bringing more than just storms. Two of our friends are missing. Loc knows something, but he isn’t talking. And to complicate matters further, my former crush Max has joined forces with my brother. They think they’ll get answers using spells and pentacles and brute torture.
But the devil prefers to bargain.
My innocence in exchange for the hostages. Those are his terms.
Now I’m in his world. A world of demons, deception and the sweetest of seductions.
And losing my way in the darkness never felt so good.

After reading that hooking blurb there was no way I was passing this up it all sounded just so deliciously enticing.
And so often these things do disappoint us; failing to deliver on the promised attraction, but not here; this is one story I’m happy to impart that definitely lives up to its hype in every way possible.
Almost instantly upon starting this I was sold and invested for the whole duration “The price of Brimstone” managed to enthral and capture my attention just so effortlessly.
Weaving such an intricate web of misinformation and manipulation all wrapped up so prettily with a side-order of romance and a dash of devilish intent.
Being a new author for me so I wasn’t really sure what to expect here but it was all good and I’m pleased to say I was greatly entertained by this.
So the description here says it all there’s a monster or if you will Demon in Judes basement.
Placed there by her brother Russel and his friend Max so they can attempt to harvest information on the whereabouts of two of there friends.
And after Her brother’s extreme methods of inducement, Jude decides to covertly use her own powers of persuasion with much superior results.
But is she being played by a master manipulator, a demon deceiver and is there a greater power at play here moving its pieces in a macabre chess match; only time and Loc himself has the answer.
So I loved this so much. it was such an unusual tale that really stands out in its genre.
Locryn Price; well in my opinion though this is told from Jude’s perspective apart from a small part at the end (which I adored by the way; so typical Loc) this is his book.
Loc is the standout character that made this such an intriguing read for me without him; well there is just no real pull.
He had all the best one-liners and with his acerbic derisive wit, I couldn’t help panting after him tongue hanging out along with Jude herself as he attempted to transverse the rocky road of his own disinterested humanity.
With his unapologetic askew moral compass, It was then fascinating to spectate as Jude tried to see the best and hone in on his more human attributes.
Sometimes with a lot more success than others.
So amusing being a fly on the wall as Jude tries to explain the concept of Love To a less than impressed Loc.
So this wasn’t major fast paced and was quite a slow drawn out story but it seemed to work.
Managing to build up the anticipation just so nicely.
Amazingly humorous instances combined with an almost intensity at times make “The price of Brimstone” so utterly readable.
I adored the haunted carousel episode with the horses; the internal imagery this inspired within with its vivid prose setting the scene so splendidly.
Nightmares are only dreams that have grown bored of the monotony. They’re so much more interesting if you ask me.
Whether or not they’re bad depends on your point of view. To some nightmares consist of chaos and macabre imagery. That’s why people fear them. You see they don’t appreciate the thrill, the adrenaline rush of not knowing whats going to happen next. What sort of person are you, Judith? Do you embrace your nightmares? or do you run from them?
This was quite a long read in itself but I didn’t find myself drifting as It easily held my attention throughout.
There were not that many developed side characters really only Russel and Max and if I’m honest neither was much to write home about.
Russell himself was such a whiny tantrum throwing brat; just so needed a biotch-slap and Max, well he was just a bit MEH!.
Next, to Locryn he just seemed like such a wet blanket.
Besides these two there was only really Sky. Owen and a few lesser demons.
The main focus here really stays on Jude and Loc throughout which definitely does work.
I only really had some teensy grievances here that caused me to drop half a star and there only minor personal preferences.
I wasn’t struck on the ending here and would have prefered an alternative to what we were given.
I can’t really say much more as have no wish to spoil this for anyone.
I would also have liked to have been subjected to more of Loc’s POV; I’m not the biggest fan of the type of storytelling where we only get one viewpoint, much preferring dual.
As I said earlier we did get a snippet near the end but that was so not enough; it only whet my appetite for more.
So that’s it really; this for me was a fabulous read that I can’t recommend enough.
I would definitely read more Locryn, in fact, I would go as far as to say I need to with that bittersweet finale.
Team Loc all the way for me; I really would love to read more about this fascinating Demon.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “The Price Of Brimstone” of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions are entirely my own.

The Price of Brimstone by Allie Gail

Judith Sterling’s life has been full of mystery and monsters but she only seems to think the monsters were not real and just a figment of her imagination, until the day she goes back home after losing her job her grandmother decided that she needs to go back to where it all began. But once there she discovers that monsters are real or Cambion demons are because her brother and his best friend Max have one trussed up like a thanksgiving turkey in the basement.
Locryn Price a Cambion demon has been held captive for a few weeks in the basement of Russ Sterling’s home, but he is just going with the flow not really revealing any info into the disappreance of Russel girlfriend and friend Owen, not until Judith discovers that he is there he decided to play along a little bit more.
Here is something to know about demons as well as demi demons they are master manipulators and they get what they want, or try to. And that just what Locryn is trying to do with Judith sterling, he’s trying to get more than her virtue; her very soul is at stake.
“But have you ever danced with the devil in the morning light?”-Locryn
The Price of Brimstone was and exceptionally well written book and I for one was engrossed with how well the characters were written, the way that felt that each emotion was stated you could almost see in in your mind eye as they went on this amazing journey to find not only self-redemption of a half demon who is discovering what love is supposed to be and how it feels but to see a human help them discover it in a special way.
This was my first book by Allie Gail and I feel that she did a suburb job with this book, there were a few things that I had to reread just to make sure I got the concept of what she was trying to get across with the Latin wording used for the spells that were in the book. But all in all this was an amazing read and I recommend it as a paranormal romance.
WOW – A definite must read – One twisted turn after another!
“Nightmares are only dreams that have grown bored of the monotony”
This read was literally an amusement park of misdirection – carnal desires and OMG moments
I am going to try and do this without spoilers and repeats of the blurb- because truly the smallest detail will ruin the overall “WTH” effect that this book constantly provides its reader.
↪ Loc – He is one of the bad guys- but ohh you gotta love ’em
Dark – Brooding – a bit Mischevious and definitely someone you want to be very very wary of-
He has a way of manipulating the situation to get the outcome he prefers and currently, he wants June
He never answers a question with a straight answer, which can get quite annoying – but he does provide you with a direction to find what you are looking for – Though you may not want the answers you find
↪ June – Great lead female character! I really liked the fact that she just accepts who she is and how she feels. HIghly intelligent and very determined. Tends to follow her heart – even when she knows her decision may come with a hefty price – She deals with the devil to ensure the release of her friends and the safety of her family – but the deal has small print that may just cost her everything
↪ Max – Grew up with June and Russ – Level headed, loving – just the all-around perfect boy next door – Not really anything special about him
↪ Russ – Lord in heaven how did this boy survive as long as he has? This is June’s not so level-headed brother – also the reason why everyone’s lives seem to be snowballing out of control – definitely hot-headed and a bit self-absorbed
↪If you are looking for a captivating read that plays on the darker sides of romance and is guaranteed to incite your inner demon – look no further Brimstone has all the thrills and chills of a great paranormal read!
I really really hope this story continues!
Returning home after loosing her job due to layoff, Judith ( Jude ) is more than a little flummoxed by her older brother Russell’s scruffy state and his and longtime best friend Max’s shiftiness.
Turns out Russell’s girlfriend sky and other longtime best friend have been missing for a while, and not just run away but vanished…. Judith isn’t convinced after hearing either his or max’s story of what happened but she is convinced by the man they are holding captive in the basement. Except he isn’t a man..not really.. Jude’ s father was a demon exorciser and after meeting with the ‘man’ who killed her parents…she knows the man in the basement is more… especially when he heals so quickly.
Locryn Price is a cambion, half human half demon… and he wants Jude.
First read by this author… and other than reading the blurb… which literally slapped me with a ‘READ ME’ kipper about my face.. I went into this book knowing nothing.
This book is a grower of a story laying the foundations of the characters and past thoroughly…where it then kicks in to high gear and literally knocked my socks off. There is an overall atmospheric creepy feel to the book which was so brilliantly created and carried throughout. A number of the secondary characters sleeved the poop outta me and I applaud a book that can do so. It was artistically and creatively done and made for a fantastic read.
Without giving too much away.. (because I hate that) …is an anti hero in the truest sense of the word… fiendish and crafty and torn and conflicted. His relationship and interactions with Jude we’re bloody brilliantly created, he had a truely wicked dry sense of humour and I couldn’t help but love his character. He is by far the best charachter. Loc is charismatic and secretive and
Seductive…. and you just can’t help but feel for him… or at least I couldn’t.
This is a book about good and evil, black and white all the shades between… its also one of sacrifice… Jude’s for her friends, her family but ultimately Loc’s sacrifice …. and I absolutely loved it. (
When Judith loses her job and heads to the childhood home she co-owns with her older brother Russell, she didn’t expect the not so welcome greeting she received. When she finally discovers why Russ and his best friend (and her crush) Max want her out of the house, she realizes it’s for good reason. There is literally a monster in her basement . . .
Locryn Price is a human demon hybrid. He may or may not have something to do with the disappearance of Jude’s friends. Russ and Max are convinced he’s behind the disappearance and are using any means possible to try to get the information out of Loc, including torture. But, Loc’s got other ideas. He’d rather strike a bargain with Judith.
When the sexy as sin demon offers to return Judith’s friends as well as forgo vengeance on her brother and crush in exchange for her innocence, she feels she has no choice but to accept. When she finds herself in a world she could never have imagined, surrounded by demons and deceptions, she realizes that losing herself to Loc’s dark seductions is much more than she bargained for.
Allie Gail had me hooked from page one! I adore a unique take on paranormal romance and The Price of Brimstone was simply phenomenal.
Jude is an amazing young woman. She strong and intelligent and puts everyone’s needs above her own. She pure and full of light and is such a bright spot, that she makes Loc feel more human than he ever has before.
Loc really is a sexy devil. He’s made for deception and seduction. Yet, he feels a connection with Judith he was never supposed to feel. And, when push comes to shove, this demon uses his humanity to do the right thing in the first selfless act he’s ever been a part of.
The plot was enthralling and unexpected. I seriously didn’t know what was coming next or how this book could possibly end. The chemistry between Judith and Locryn is hot as hell and the cast of side characters intriguing. With mind-blowing imagery and a truly phenomenal ending, The Price of Brimstone is a paranormal delight that proves maybe a demon can learn what love is. 5 stars!
